De sprong van Jan van Schaffelaar
Tijdens de Hoekse en Kabeljauwse twisten (1350-1500) was de stad Utrecht ingenomen door de Hoeken. Voedselconvooien naar die stad werden onderschept door Kabeljauwse huursoldaten van de verdreven bisschop David van Bourgondië. Jan van Schaffelaar was bij hem in dienst. Op 16 juli 1482 verschanste hij zich met een twintigtal ruiters voor de Hoeken in de Barneveldse toren. Deze belegerden en beschoten de toren. Vervolgens beloofden de Hoekse soldaten de Kabeljauwen vrijgeleide als zijn hun aanvoerder naar beneden zouden werpen. Daarop sprong Jan van Schaffelaar zelf en offerde zijn leven voor dat van zijn manschappen.

For anyone who wants to indulge in the most beautiful garden and home decorations, statues, home accessories and furniture, the sculpture garden in combination with the showroom village is the home paradise on earth!
Outside you will find particularly beautiful images spread over more than 3000 square meters. Nice garden decorations in a nostalgic wooden canopy to brighten up your garden. A complete surprise awaits you inside! A residential shopping village of over 1300 square meters spread over two floors with everything for the home! The showroom village does not contain the word village for nothing. The word shop wouldn't be enough.

Garderen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Barneveld, in the forests of the Veluwe. The village has 1,994 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2008).
Garderen was a separate municipality until 1818, when it was merged with Barneveld.
The village is located in an agricultural enclave on the west side of the Veluwe. It has been a tourist destination for a long time, owing to its bed & breakfasts with high-quality food, but it has always remained a conservative and religious village.
Facilities in the village include a primary school, a medical practice, a cemetery, De Hoop windmill, various hotels, restaurants, cafes and snack bars, camping grounds, and basic shops. Several dozen other companies are located in the village.
Garderen is older than the village of Barneveld and was originally the capital of the later city of Barneveld. The church of the Dutch Reformed Church was originally built in the eleventh century. The current tower dates from the fourteenth century. From 1812 to 1818 Garderen was an independent municipality with a separate administrative designation. After this it became part of the municipality of Barneveld.
Wow. Sand castles as never before:
We decided to visit the Sand Sculptures in Garderen. What a pleasant surprise! It is sent in an environment with garden shops and restaurants. The sand sculptures themselves are magnificent, from the nice entrance indoors to the world scenes outdoors, going into the area with an outrageous animal scene and finishing with 25 scenes from modern Dutch history. An absolute must that took us about 2 hours.
A fantastic park full of sculptures, some of wood and the most made from sand. A treated sand but still …from sand. Every year there is a theme for the sand sculptures. This year’s one is Dutch Masters. Just amazing! But its not only the sculptures which can enjoy them indoor and outdoor. There are playgrounds for kids, shops and restaurants and around the park, forest with paths for walking or biking. You can spend in the area from two hours to a day!

Lichtjestoer Trekkers Stroe 2022
Op 19 december 2022 vond er weer een Lichtjestoer plaats in de Gemeente Barneveld met meer dan 100 schitterende met kerst verlichte trekkers! De route begon vanaf legerplaats Stroe via Garderen, Voorthuizen, Zwartebroek, Terschuur, Barneveld, Kootwijkerbroek naar uiteindelijk weer de eindbestemming Stroe bij Restaurant de Landing, waar de route ook begon.
Daar was iedereen welkom om gezellig na te praten over de actie en route en waren er festiviteiten met hapjes, drankjes en een zangkoor.
Tevens was er de uitverkiezing van de drie mooiste trekkers door een driekoppige jury, waaronder als speciale gast Caroline van der Plas van de BoerBurgerBeweging, gecomplementeerd door VVD-raadslid en pluimveehouder Theo Bos en voorzitter René Ratterman van Plaatselijk Belang Stroe. William van der Dussen uit Stroe werd winnaar, goed voor de wisselbeker en een helikoptervlucht voor twee personen met HeliFlight in Stroe. Rens Donkersteeg uit Harskamp werd tweede en Boyd van Engelenhoven uit Harskamp derde.
Het eerste idee voor de lichtjestocht ontstond volgens Get-Jan Brouwer van Stichting Lichtjestoer Barneveld drie jaar geleden in Raalte na een demonstratie bij de Jumbo: Met een paar honderd boeren demonstreerden we daar tegen het moedwillig laag houden van de melkprijzen. Toen we na afloop in een oude vee-kar wat met elkaar zaten na te praten, ontstond het idee om iets leuks te doen voor de burgers, want zij hebben last van onze acties. En wij vinden eigenlijk ook niks aan dat demonstreren, ik wil ook gewoon boeren en niets anders. Maar soms moeten we het doen voor onze eigen bestwil.’’
In Stroe en Kootwijkerbroek kreeg het idee al snel een concrete vorm.
We wilden de mensen gaan opvrolijken met een mooie lichtjesstoet.’’
Ook ontstond het idee om pakketten met smakelijke streekproducten af te leveren bij de verzorgingshuizen. Dat waren er in het eerste jaar vijf, dit jaar zijn het er acht: Kruimelstaete in Garderen, Nieuw Avondrust in Voorthuizen, Nieuw Eendracht in Zwartebroek en Neboplus, Elim, Ruimzicht en Norschoten in Barneveld. Ook gaat de stoet langs Norschoten in Kootwijkerbroek.
Brouwer was geraakt door de reacties tijdens na afloop van de twee eerdere edities: De bewoners van de verzorgingshuizen vonden het prachtig dat we langsreden en we kregen heel veel appjes en andere leuke reacties.’’

The liberation of the Dutch area of Apeldoorn in 1945 in color! De bevrijding rond Apeldoorn in 1945
In my previous film about the liberation of Deventer on April 11, 1945, you saw how the Canadians crossed the river IJssel near Gorssel and the next day moved west towards Apeldoorn and the North part of the Veluwe.
Apeldoorn was liberated by the Canadians on Tuesday 17 April 1945. In fact, that liberation was much easier than the Canadians initially thought
Great resistance by the Germans was expected. The reason was that the Germans had resisted fiercely at the Apeldoorns canal and near Teuge.
In the night of 16 to 17 April, two resistance members, Albert van de Scheur and Gijs Numan, crossed the Apeldoorns Canal at the lock north of the Deventer Bridge to meet the Canadians to report that only a few Germans were left in the city. With this they managed to prevent a heavy shelling of the city. Finally, the Canadians entered the city in large numbers, only to be hindered in their advance by a few snipers that were left behind.
The Canadians were welcomed with open arms by the population, as can be clearly seen in this film. The towns of Lieren, Oosterhuizen and Beekbergen were also liberated that same night, followed by Apeldoorn-South and Ugchelen; Barneveld followed a day later.
Apeldoorn appeared to have emerged from the war relatively unscathed, in contrast to other cities in the east of our country such as Arnhem and Nijmegen.
After the failed Operation Market Garden in September 1944, many evacuees from the Arnhem area had come to Apeldoorn where they found shelter in, among other hospitals and the Dutch Queens Palace Het Loo.
Note: This film concentrates mainly on the area north of Apeldoorn around towns like Harderwijk.

In mijn vorige film over de bevrijding van Deventer op 11 april 1945 is te zien hoe de Canadezen ter hoogte van Gorssel de rivier de IJssel overstaken en daags later richting het Westen naar Apeldoorn en het ten noorden daarvan gelegen deel van de Veluwe trokken.
Apeldoorn werd op dinsdag 17 april 1945 door de Canadezen bevrijd. Feitelijk ging die bevrijding veel gemakkelijker dan de Canadezen aanvankelijk verwachten. Men rekende op grote weerstand door de Duitsers. De reden was dat bij het Apeldoorns kanaal en ter hoogte van Teuge de Duitsers fel tegenstand hadden geboden.
In de nacht van 16 op 17 april staken twee verzetslieden, Albert van de Scheur en Gijs Numan, het Apeldoorns kanaal over bij de sluis ten noorden van de Deventerbrug om aan de Canadezen te melden dat er nog maar enkele Duitsers in de stad waren achtergebleven. Daarmee wisten zij een zware beschieting van de stad te voorkomen.
Uiteindelijk trokken de Canadezen in groten getale de stad binnen waarbij zij slechts in hun opmars werden gehinderd door enkele achtergebleven sluipschutters.
De Canadezen werden met open armen door de bevolking ontvangen zoals in deze film is te zien. Ook Lieren, Oosterhuizen en Beekbergen werden diezelfde nacht bevrijd. gevolgd door Apeldoorn-Zuid en Ugchelen en Barneveld een dag later.
Apeldoorn bleek redelijk ongehavend uit de oorlog te zijn gekomen, in tegenstelling tot andere steden in het Oosten van ons land zoals Arnhem en Nijmegen.
Na de mislukte operatie Market Garden in september 1944 waren veel evacués uit de omgeving Arnhem overgekomen naar Apeldoorn waar zij ondermeer onderdak vonden in ziekenhuizen en Paleis het Loo.
Noot: Deze film betreft voornamelijk het gebied van Noord Veluwe, met name rond plaatsen als Harderwijk.

Terschuur (in het Nedersaksisch ook wel: Schuurdaarp of Sjuurdaarp) is een dorp in de gemeente Barneveld, in de Nederlandse provincie Gelderland. Het dorp ligt in de Gelderse Vallei, vlak tegen de snelweg A1. Het dorp telt, inclusief de omgeving, 1510 inwoners (2008[1]). Het dorp vormt een tandem met het een paar kilometer noordelijk gelegen dorp Zwartebroek; veel sociale activiteiten worden gezamenlijk ondernomen.
De buurtschap Kallenbroek ten zuiden van de A1, bij het bos- en heidegebied Erica, behoort ook tot Terschuur. Verder staat een paar kilometer ten zuiden van het dorp een korenmolen uit de 15e eeuw, Den Olden Florus.
Landgoed de Schaffelaar te Barneveld
Dronevlucht over het landgoed Schaffelaar en het landhuis, Huize de Schaffelaar., lokaal ook wel het Schaffelaarse Kasteel genoemd.
Apeldoorn, die zweite königliche Residenz der Niederlande
Palast Het Loo und die zugehörigen Palastgärten sind charakteristisch für den königlichen Charakter Apeldoorns. Der Palast wurde ab 1686 von Statthalter Wilhelm III. erbaut. Nach seiner Inthronisation zum König von England nutzt er den Palast jedoch hauptsächlich als Jagdschloss. Jahrhundertelang bleibt es jedoch eine wichtige Adresse für das königliche Haus. Insbesondere König Wilhelm III. und später seine Tochter, Königin Wilhelmina, lebten dort praktisch permanent. Nach ihrem Tod wird Palast Het Loo zum Museum umfunktioniert, in dem das Haus Oranien -Nassau eingehend beleuchtet wird.
