The Georgia Mountains Region or North Georgia mountains or Northeast Georgia is an area that starts in the northeast corner of Georgia, United States, and spreads in a westerly direction. The mountains in this region are in the Blue Ridge mountain chain that ends in Georgia. At over 1 billion years of age, the Blue Ridge mountains are among the oldest mountains in the United States and sometimes mistaken to be the oldest mountains in the world (they are only about one third of the age of South Africa's 3.6 billion year old Barberton greenstone belt.). The mountains in this region are also a part of the vast system of North American mountains known as the Appalachian Mountains that spans most of the United States longitudally along the eastern areas of the nation and terminates in Alabama.
The region is known for its ruggedness and scenic beauty. The Cherokee who lived in these mountains called them ᏌᏆᎾᎦ/Sah-ka-na'-ga - Blue Smoke Mountains. Large portions of the North Georgia mountains are included in the more than 750,000 acres (3,000 km2) that comprise the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Barberton has always been a geological wonder, so it is no surprise that Universities and Schools come to this area where they can learn more about the earths history but it can't always be just education, so we add in tours to make it more of a fun education experience. The Makhonjwa Mountains were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2018 already and it is the 1st WHS for Mpumalanga and the 10th for South Africa, if you have not visited Barberton yet, and don't know what to do in our town please feel free to contact us on 066 222 1028.

Today we are celebrating all the delicious must eat foods in Ohio. This is a top 10 list of Ohio's most iconic must eats. This is what is popular in Ohio and this is what it is known for. This is food that has been invented in the Buckeye state or must eat Ohio food you can only get here. This is a list for true Ohioans or an Ohio bucket list of foods that everyone from Ohio should try once before they die. So lets get into Ohio's Best of the best when it comes to food. So here we go, our top 10 list and Ohio's best food
#10 Goetta sausage from Cincinnati. Cincinnati has a large German population and this specialty meat was invented when the immigrants wanted to stretch a buck by adding oats and different herbs and seasonings to their meats to make the meat go farther and last longer. Goetta pronounced Get- uh can be found anywhere that serves breakfast food and around Cincinnati grocery stores. And just over the river in Newport, KY there is a two wee long Goettafest Goetta festival.
#9 Barberton Chicken. We are in Barberton, Ohio at Belgrade Gardens a restaurant that has been open since 1933. Barberton, Ohio has a large population of Serbian American immigrants. During the Great Depression many people in Barberton including the immigrants from Serbia lost their farms and one Serbian couple decided to start up a chicken restaurant that served fried chicken with a mixture of Serbian spices. The Barberton chicken restaurant was such a hit that other Serbian families decided to set up chicken restaurants. Now there are now 4 Barberton chicken restaurants that together sell 7.5 tons a week of chicken.
#8 in Australian they're called Lamington bars but somehow the recipe made its way in Cleveland and we just simply call them coconut bars.
A white cake rolled in chocolate sauce and then in fine coconut shavings.
#7 Cleveland Cassata cake.
Cassata cake originated in Italy as a cake made with candied fruit and ricotta cheese. Cleveland kids did not love the taste of this cake so a famous Cleveland Italian Baker changed it to a sponge cake with strawberries, custard and a light wip topping. Other bakeries in Cle started copying the new Cassata. And the new version is what Clevelanders know now as Cassata.
#6 Sauerkraut Balls ! Sauerkraut Balls were invented in Akron Ohio. Sauerkraut it not a favorite of my kids but it is a favorite of Ohioans.
#5 Blue Ice Cream
Blue Ice Cream was invented in the 60's for Kings Island Amusement Park and the new Smurf ride. They made a Smurf ice cream to sell outside the attraction. Smurf ice cream eventually turned into Blue Ice Cream and is now a cult classic Blueberry soft serve in the Cincinnati area.
#4 We go to Banter in Cleveland for a Polish Boy. A Polish boy is a sausage sandwich topped with French Fries, cole slaw and barbeque sauce.
#3 we go to the Tackle Box to in Freemont, Ohio to have some of Lake Erie's finest fresh fish. When in Cleveland you must have a Perch or Walleye dinner.
#2 We go to Skyline Chili for one of Ohio's favorite foods Cincinnati Chili. Cincinnati Chili is a ground meat chili with unique seasonings like cinnamon and nutmeg. The chili is then served over spaghetti noodles and topped with your choice of cheddar cheese, onions, beans, and oyster crackers. It's all an odd and wonderful combination of flavors.

Barberton Makhonjwa Geotrail - unveiling
To celebrate the launch of the geotrail and commemorate private sector and government co-operation, two plaques were unveiled. One at the Nukain Mabuza inspired painted rocks Gateway in Barberton and the other at the Makhonjwa/Lebombo viewpoint on the trail itself. Pack your picnic basket and enjoy a fun day on the trail that takes you back 3.6 billion years.
Mike's Place Restaurant – An Amazing Place with Cool Decor – Following the Tolle Road – Kent, OH
This week’s adventure I discover that I don’t know the difference between Akron and Kent Ohio! Bad geography aside, I continue my tour of the great state of Ohio with Tolle from @TheTolleRoad and Road Trip Rich. Tolle brings me to the very cool and awesome roadside gem Mike’s Place Restaurant. I take a look around all the eclectic decorations and stop to have some really amazing ribs! Have I mentioned; it’s in Kent and not Akron? A short one, but lots of fun to see! Do come along!!!

Barberton Manor Guest House ****
Barberton Manor Guest House, built in 1927 after a Sir Herbert Baker design, is a National Heritage and still in its original state, but offers modern day comfort. Dinner by prior arrangement.
The spacious bed and breakfast in Mpumalanga, South Africa, is situated close to Swaziland (Mbabane) (40 km), 60 km from the Kruger ParkKruger National Park and 45 km from Nelspruit (Kruger Mpumalanga Int. Airport).
Barberton, a small town nestled in the Makwonja Mountains has a rich history: in the 1880's gold was found at Eureka City, which turned this small settlement into a booming town.
It also is a place of geological interest: 3.5 billion years ago, the earliest lifeforms on earth lived in this area. Their fossils can be found in the rocks around Barberton and attract many scientists every year.

Huntington,WV
Huntington is a city in Cabell and Wayne Counties in the State of West Virginia. It sets on the Ohio River at the point where West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky meet. The Visitor Center was a must stop, they offered so much information about the city and points of interest with maps of locations. They were very friendly and welcoming. Huntington is full of hustle and bustle as many bigger cities are. There are many shops and restaurants. It has something for everyone. Huntington has one of the largest shopping malls in the state of West Virginia. Named America's Best Community in 2017. I can understand why, its a great city!

I WENT TO AKRON, OHIO JUST TO WATCH TRAINS!!!
In this video I went to Akron Ohio to watch trains! my first stop was kenmore Ohio were we saw a csx mixed freight train. Then I moved over to Barberton Ohio. where we saw the coke express train and a mixed freight train. there was a interesting conversation. they were talking about the crew stretching there legs and getting some coffee. then we went to go check out abc railway in Barberton. then I moved over to Kent Ohio to check out the viaduct. we saw a couple trains. on the way back to Akron I saw the shelly company sd40-2. then we went to check out wheling and Lake Erie Brittany yard there was a train working the yard but I didn't get to see it leave the yard. thanks for checking out csx new castle sub with me.

The general offices are located in Barberton, Ohio. The primary yard operations are in Barberton with secondary switching and storage at Firestone Yard in Akron.

The New Castle Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation in the U.S. states of Pennsylvania ond Ohio. The line runs from New Castle, Pennsylvania, west to Greenwich, Ohio, along a former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad line.
At its east end, near Mahoningtown, the New Castle Subdivision becomes the New Castle Terminal Subdivision. Its west end is at the Willard Terminal Subdivision just east of the Greenwich Subdivision junction at Greenwich. Along the way it junctions with the Newton Falls Subdivision at Newton Falls, Ohio, and the CL&W Subdivision at Sterling, Ohio.
