Forest Safari in Bandipur Tiger Reserve | JLR Safari package | Karnataka Wildlife
Bandipur Tiger Reserve is situated in Chamarajnagar district of Karnataka and also a part of South India's largest forest. It was established as a tiger reserve in 1973 and this is one of the most famous forest in South India for wildlife tourism. Jungle Lodge Resorts and Forest department are coordinating the safaris here. We have selected JLR option for this safari.

Bandipur tiger reserve and national parrk is one of the first Nine Tiger Reserves in the country. Bandipur National Park is regarded as one of the most beautiful and better-managed national parks of India.

Bandipur is located amidst the picturesque surroundings of the towering Western Ghats on the Mysore-Ooty highway in Karnataka, it is an important part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve that constitutes Karnataka’s Rajiv Gandhi National Park (Nagarahole) to its Northwest, Tamil Nadu’s Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary to its South, and Kerala’s Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary to its Southwest. The total extent of Bandipur National Park is 872.24 sq km. It is located partly in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar District and partly in H.D.Kote and Nanjangud taluks of Mysuru District.
The National Highways NH-181 and NH-766 pass through Bandipur national park. This road has been a major concern as speeding vehicles have killed many wild animals in spite of frequent warnings to travelers from the forest department officials and restriction on movement of vehicles in some stretches between 9 P.M to 6 A.M. This has raised fears of extinction of habitat of wild animals exclusively found in Bandipur national park.
Bandipur Forest Safari:
Jungle Lodges and Resorts alone is now licensed to operate Bandipur jeep safaris. Mini-bus safari is operated by the Forest Department begin from the range office. The bus safari is conducted between 6:30 am- 9 am and 3:30 pm-5 pm. The fee is 600 INR per person. Trekking is now permitted in Bandipur. Elephant safaris have been discontinued.

Visiting OOTY after 15 years. Banglore to Ooty Road Trip Via 36 Hairpin bends one of the most scenic route of South India.
Our road trip started in month of May morning 4:00 am and reached OOTY by 10.30am. Bandipur tiger reserve road opens at 6 am and closes evening 5 pm for animals movement. Total journey time including breakfast break 6.35 hrs. After covering 2 tourist places we checked in our resort Mango Hill.
We took Bangalore Mysore express way- Bandipur - Mudumalai- Masinagudi - 36 Hairpin bends- Ooty route. This route allowed for Uphill only

Nepal Ep 6: After an incredible trek to Annapurna Base Camp, today we start our journey from Pokhara back to Kathmandu with the first stop over at the hilltop settlement of Bandipur. This was a place I absolutely fell in love with for its architecture and preserved heritage.
This trip was with Nepal Tourism Board in November 2019 for Visit Nepal 2020.
