BANDA ACEH: The Most Dangerous City in Indonesia? (I Don't Think So...)
Welcome back to Indonesia! Decided to start my 2023 travels in Indonesia back in Sumatra. This time I decided to go to the northwestern most part of Indonesia and visit Banda Aceh.
I was told by many people not to visit Banda Aceh because of its strict religious practices. It is the only place in Indonesia that implements Sharia Law. Although they only enforce it on Muslims.
In this video, I check out the beautiful Baiturrahman Grand Mosque located right in the heart of the city. A city that was devasted by the 2004 tsunami that killed roughly 75,000 people in Banda Aceh City alone.
After a visit to the mosque, I go just right across the street to see what the local food vendors are selling. I see something new and give it a try.... it was not very good...
More to come from this day of jalan jalan, it was a very long day so I decided to split the video into two parts.

What is Banda Aceh like? I spend a couple of days exploring the provincial capital of Sumatra's Aceh province. This Indonesian city is well-known for its Sharia Law and religious conservatism, but I want to look a bit beyond that, exploring what there is to see and do here.

I've travelled to North America just once as a YouTuber, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
In 2022, I took my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting Kenya and Tanzania, before heading to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus, and afterwards going back to Italy for the second time to cover Milan and Sicily. I then visited the Caribbean for the first time, covering the Dominican Republic, before heading to both Brussels and Amsterdam, then covering Taiwan and the Philippines in Asia. I finished off the year with a trip around Morocco.
I started my travels in 2023 by finally visiting Paris, taking the Eurostar from London. I then headed over to Qatar for a few days, before heading to Asia, with videos following from India, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Mongolia, Thailand and Sumatra (Indonesia).

Banda Aceh for First Timers | Traveloka ‘You Go, We Go’
Did you enjoy our previous travel vlog in Phuket? Well, we’re back with more — and this time in the beautiful land of Banda Aceh with Firefly.
We flew with Firefly Airlines from the Subang Skypark Terminal to Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport.
Our first day started off with lunch at Rumah Makan Adytia Jaya (Ayam Pramugari). Since the town is known for their strong coffee, our next stop was Dedy Kopi. After an eventful day, we checked in at Pade Hotel and filled our tummies at Mie & Nasi Goreng Bardi for dinner.
Our second day definitely got more interesting with PLTD Apung, Museum Tsunami Aceh, and Kapal Tsunami Lampulo on our list. It was quite a touching experience to be able to see things first hand, and paying our respects to both the lost ones and the survivors. Then, we headed to our last stop: Masjid Rahmatullah.
Our third day adventures eventually escalated to taking a ferry from Ulee Lheue Ferry Pot all the way to Pulau Weh, where we explored the Japanese Coastal Fortress and Pantai Paradiso. We were ready to see some dolphins and go snorkeling!
We took our last day more chill and featured Masjid Raya Baitulrahman, Rumoh Aceh, and UD .SYR Coffee.

Our vacation in Bandar Aceh for 4 days was great. Greeted by nice local people here, they are very friendly and helpful.
Aceh is a underrated place to visit. There are so many beautiful places. The place I like most is Pulau Subang Aceh, we had sight seeing, snorkelling and watch dolphins in the morning.
Food in Aceh is very cheap especially the seafood. We spent for seafood only Rm140 for 5 pax. Overall our vacation in Aceh was awesome.
