Unique Places in Budapest | The Villa District nobody knows about | Hungary ????????
If you are looking for Unique Places in Budapest, which are not listed on tourist maps, then in this video we show you a unique Hidden Gem area thats worth a visit if you want to see things off the beaten path.
There is an Unknown part of Budapest which is doesn't get the attention it deserves: The Villa District between Ajtósi Dürer sor and Thököly út! Officially it's not known as Villa District in Budapest, so that also kinda shows how unknown this place really is. However there are a ton of stories to make this area stand out!
The Villa area is located in the 14th District, also known as Zugló. It is a real in-between compared to the busy downtown and the laid back outer city districts. In older times many famous Hungarians lived in these areas, and a lot of successful businessmen built their homes here. Today in this small part you can visit many historic buildings and some of them are kept in really good shape! Most of them even have very unique stories, like one that has a Lion statue that was part of a trial, or a building that looks like a castle and doesnt really fit with all the other buildings.
It is a really chill and cool place, so if you want to visit an off the beaten path area on your trip to Budapest, this is quite a nice place to hang out. There are also some new restaurant popping up, and we visited one of them:

We really enjoyed our food here and the service was also very kind and nice. Good to see you can get excellent restaurant experience further away from the inner city.

We love to travel! In this travel vlog we visit Lake Balaton Hungary. After our city trip to Budapest, we travel to Lake Balaton to stay for a week (our first digital nomad experience!).
Balaton Lake Hungary (Dutch: Balaton Meer; German: Plattensee) is the largest lake in Central Europe. It is a popular destination while traveling Hungary. We explore lake Balaton in this travel video. We enjoy the romantic Tihany peninsula, spend a lovely day at Tihany Beach and visit Tapolca, an old town with a large cavern system.
If you travel Europe in 2022, you should definitely consider visiting Balaton Lake! Beside one of the continent’s most beautiful capitals, Budapest, most of the tourists are curious about the Puszta and the traditions of horse keeping. But how much more can Hungary offer! St. Stephen's Basilica - Since it was on the way to the first restaurant, we stopped for a quick visit to St. Stephen's Basilica, a Roman Catholic basilica in the heart of Budapest. It’s spectacular.
Első Pesti Rétesház - Hungarian Restaurant - Located right in the heart of Budapest, around the corner from St. Stephen's Basilica is Első Pesti Rétesház. Local Hungarian friends had recommended the strudel there, so that’s exactly what I went for. I’m not sure about the other food, but their strudel is fantastic. I tried a sour cherry and a cabbage, both extraordinary. Total price - 1,300 HUF ($4.29)
Hungarian Parliament Building - Also known as the National Assembly of Hungary, this is a landmark and iconic building of Budapest.
Pozsonyi Kisvendeglo - But there was nothing I wanted more than to get started eating local Hungarian food on this tour. So we walked over to Pozsonyi Kisvendeglo, a local restaurant with an indoor section and lovely outdoor terrace. First I ordered one of their specialities, bone marrow with garlic and toast. Then without a doubt, there was nothing I wanted to eat more than Hungarian goulash, the most well known of all Hungarian food. Their goulash was outstanding, flavorful from paprika, and loaded with tender chunks of beef. Additionally, their Pörkölt, a Hungarian meat stew, served with pasta dumplings, was delicious. Ying had the steak with mushrooms, also fantastic. Great Hungarian food! Total price - 8,400 HUF ($27.69) for everything
Matthias Church - Church of the Assumption of the Buda Castle - After lunch we walked across the river to Matthias Church, which was very busy, and unfortunately it wasn’t open on the inside due to a wedding. But the outside was still worth a visit.
Buda Castle - Royal Palace - Finally, the last of the Budapest attractions we visited on this tour was Buda Castle. And then we were ready to eat again!
Náncsi Néni - Located not too far, but outside the limits of Budapest, is a restaurant that I really wanted to try, and so we caught a taxi directly there. Náncsi Néni is exactly what I was hoping for, a local Hungarian food restaurant, serving traditional Hungarian dishes, all within a picturesque tree shaded courtyard. We tried the catfish paprikash stew, and the roasted duck with liver. Both were delicious. Náncsi Néni is a little more of a Hungarian upscale restaurant, but it was well worth it, for the food and ambiance, and it’s a great place for kids too. 18,300 HUF ($60.33) - Total price for everything

Things to do in Budapest, Hungary
In this travel video, our VERY FIRST INSTALLMENT of ALL OVER THE MAP, we look at Budapest, Hungary. Budapest is of a similar size to our home of Toronto, Canada, but we were unprepared for the beauty of the architecture and the reasonable prices that seemed to have disappeared in recent years from most other parts of Europe.
We quickly found that the best way to travel around Budapest was by bike. The MOL Bubi bike rental system was easy to use and virtually free if we could adhere to some pretty simple time restrictions.
We always try to check out local food when we travel and try to steer away from the more touristed restaurants. In Budapest we found a number of great options with various dumplings and stews that we were largely unfamiliar with.
The bathhouse was another aspect of Budapest that we had not experienced the like of in our previous travels. During our 4-day stay the bathhouse we visited proved to be one of the highlights.
Our time spent at the Lehel market was largely off-camera as we ran into some issues filming within the market building, however that didn't stop us from taking the goodies we found there back to our Airbnb and having a picnic on the balcony.
Finally, our time spent at St. Stephen's Basilica and the memorial titled 'The Shoes on the Danube' left us in a bit of a solemn state of mind, but isn't that what travelling is all about? Learning about the past, the present, different cultures and learning from that knowledge for the future.
We would go back to Budapest in a heartbeat and we hope that our video encourages you to visit Budapest.

This is a Budapest 4K Full Tour video of the St. Stephen's (Szent István Bazilika) Basilica. I will start on zrinyi utca, one of the most picturesque streets in the city and then go inside the Basilica. Afterwards, I will make my way up the tower and out to the balcony where you can see a 360 view of Budapest.
Indoor shots of the Basilica was from my Canon R6 due to it being so much better in low light than the osmo pocket.
