How to reach Muruguma?

Purulia, a town close to the western border of West Bengal, is one of those places which is situated in the middle of a lush greenery flanked with waterfalls and natural unadulterated wildlife. The Kasagbati and Panchet water reservoirs serve Purulia’s water requirements and also make for a photographer’s paradise. Saheb Bandh is another small water reservoir where one can go boating and fishing. Purulia’s bird population includes the Pakhi Pahar, which translates to Bird of the Hills. These birds are attracted to rocks on the hillside from which the name of the hill is derived. Tourist Places In And Around Purulia Deer park at Purulia close to the Kangsabati dam and the Ajodhya hills are two of the many tourist spots that add to the success of Purulia tourism. The town’s landscape is picture perfect and has had an influence on an Australian company that markets designer homes under the name Purulia. Other attractions of Purulia include various pilgrimage sites like Shyam Rai Temple and Biharinath Hill. Joychandi Pahar is another tourist spot which attracts tourists due to its hilly terrain. Festivals Festivities are at their best during Durga and Kali Puja at Purulia. Diwali sees the entire city decorated and painted with different hues. The Santhal Tribe celebrates their festival, Bandhna, which involves dance, music and meat based feasts. Sometimes, the locals also indulge themselves with country liquor called Hadia.
Getting Around While transportation within the town is not much difficult, it’s better to have one's own vehicle. Nevertheless, the few hotels and lodges that Purulia features are well equipped with their own vehicles that can be hired.
How To Reach Puluria Puluria has good network of roadways and railways. It connects all the major cities of West Bengal.
Best Time To Visit Purulia The best time to visit Purulia is the winters.

This ride is very special to me because for the first time my mother and my brother came along with us on this trip. It was a short trip around 60 kms from my himetown and the place is surprisingly beautiful, much more than what I was expecting.
Chandil Dam is a very peaceful and astounding place with breathtaking views and the reflection of sun on the reservior was surreal.

Baghmundi is a village, with a police station, in Baghmundi CD Block in Purulia Sadar West subdivision of Purulia district in the state of West Bengal, India.
Geography
Baghmundi lies in the vicinity of the Ajodhya Hill and Forest Reserve Area.[1]
The Bagmundi–Bandwan Upland is an area descending from the Ranchi Plateau. At some places the high lands are very steep and rise to heights ranging from 475 to 700 m. The Ajodhya Hills are spread across the Baghmundi and Balarampur areas.[2]

Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Baghmundi had a total population of 4,035 of which 2,095 (52%) were males and 1,940 (48%) were females. Population below 6 years was 561. The total number of literates in Baghmundi was 2,340 (67.36% of the population over 6 years).[3]
Police station
Baghmundi police station has jurisdiction over Baghmundi CD Block. The area covered is 275 km2 and the population covered is 135,530. It has 41.91 km inter-state border with Tiruldih and Nimdih police stations in Seraikella-Kharswan district and Sonahitu PS in Ranchi district of Jharkhand.[4][5]
Transport
SH 4 running from Jhalda (in Purulia district) to Junput (in Purba Medinipur district) passes through Baghmundi.[6]
There is a road from Baghmundi to Sirkabad going over the Ajodhya Hills

Chandil Dam standing on the Subarnarekha River is a place of scenic beauty. This dam is one of the most visited places of jharkhand.
The multi-purpose chandil dam was built across the meeting place of both the rivers. The dam is 220 meter in height and the height of its water level is 190 meter from different places tourists coming from different parts of the country enjoy boating and the natural beauty in and around the dam.Chandil is famous for its importance in the field of tourism. The River Swarnarekha flows through this region. The Karkori River originating from the Hundru falls mingles with the Swarnarekha River here at chandil.
How to reach :
By Air : You can reach Chandil Dam from Kolkata Airport or Ranchi Airport By train.
By Train
: There are regular trains from other major cities of the country to Tatanagar or Chandil.
By Road : Chandil dam is 21 km from Tata Nagar bus stand.

We visited Murguma lake and suicide point near Murguma
lake two months ago. This is a wild place as well as tremendous beauty.

Murguma dam:
The Murguma Dam is constructed on the Saharajhore River,
one of the tributaries of Kangsabati River in West Bengal,
India. The dam is constructed near Murguma village in the foothill of
Ajodhya Hills, Purulia District.
A number of other streams also flow into the dam directly from Ajodhya Hills.
Murguma is about 375 km from Kolkata & one hr.
drive from Ajodhya Pahar. The Rupasi Bangla train
is available early morning that traverses between Kolkata and Purulia.
The train reaches Purulia around 12:30 pm.
From Purulia Station, you can hire a car and reach Murguma.
You need to avail the Ranchi road and travel to Murguma, via Begunkodar.
The distance is around 45 kilometers and it takes about 1 hour 20 minutes
from Purulia another popular train is Howrah Chakradharpur Passenger,
reach Jharkhand’s Muri Station. From Muri Station,
Muruguma is situated at a distance of 35 kilometers.
You can also reach Murguma from Jhalda Station.
Suicide point:
The suicide point is just 1.5 kilometers from the Murguma dam. This is a jungle area
on the hill and possibly it is one of the highest points of Purulia.
The jungle is habituated with elephant movements.
After reaching the Suicide point entrance you have to do a little trekking to
reach the actual suicide point. The trekking root is awesome.
The calmness of the zone is mesmerizing. According to a local one
of the babu from Kolkata committed suicide due to his personal problems.
Some say the man was a Japanese who came from Kolkata.

In this video, starting from Dassam falls, we travel to Chandil dam, Jamshedpur and towards home through Ghatshila. The route taken in this video: Dassam falls -Taimara - Chandil - Asanbani - Jamshedpur - Ghatshila - Beheragora.

The Murguma Dam is constructed on the Saharajhore River, one of the tributaries of Kangsabati River in West Bengal, India. The dam is constructed near Murguma[4] village in the foothill of Ajodhya Hills, Purulia District. A number of other streams also flow into the dam directly from Ajodhya Hills. The dam is surrounded by hills, forests, and a number of small islands. The place is situated at the northwest end of Ajodhya Hills which is considered as an eastern extension of Chota Nagpur Plateau. The area is basically inhabited by tribal people, mainly Santal people. The economy is mainly dependent on agriculture.[8] However, the place has a good potentiality to be a popular tourist spot which can improve the economic condition of the local people. The government is promoting this place as a tourist destination. This dam is a part of one of the key small irrigation projects[9] in rural as well as arid areas of West Bengal having a considerable percentage of the tribal population.[7][6] It is one of the promising tourist spots of the Eastern Chota Nagpur Plateau region. To date, no facility for boating offered. The dam and surroundings are preferred locations for backpackers.[10] The dam features in the tourism brochure of the Government Tourist Department of Purulia District. The nearest railway station is Jhalda, from where the place is accessible by single metaled road. The other option is to follow the Purulia-Tamna more-Arsha-Begunkodor-Murguma(50 km) route. The accessibility is somehow not so good but that is perhaps one of the reasons that the place still offers wild beauty. Distance from nearby places: Ajodhya Hills Top = 20 km, Jhalda = 16 km, Begunkodor town = 6 km, Begunkodar rail FH = 12 km, Kolkata = 340 km, Purulia = 50 km, Durgapur = 185 km (via Bankura) 165 km (via Asansol), Bankura = 140 km, Jamshedpur = 110 km, Ranchi = 95 km, Asansol = 134 km.
Being far from urban disturbance, this dam is a location for research on indigenous aquatic flora and fauna. This area was affected by Maoist insurgency a few years back but now returned to normalcy.

In Baghmundi police station area, in the lap of Ayodhya hills, there is an unknown village called Pardi. The village is quite large. On the road from Baghmundi to Balrampur, the narrow paved road on the left from Banshitar turns to the right through the dense Shal forest and crosses the village of Chirugara to reach Pardi village. The tribal houses of this Chirugara village are beautiful. Beautifully decorated courtyards and walls with remarkable, colorful motifs. Some of them are flowers and some of them are animals. In a word, you can't take your eyes off it. Pardi Dam, a short distance from Pardi village.
In the village of Pardi, the dam has been constructed by tying up the river Kanthaljhuri. This Pardi Dam is in the lap of Gorgaburu, one of the peaks of the Ayodhya Hill Range. The quiet, silent dam sits alone in secluded solitude, decorated with unique treasure. The region is like a sage's sanctuary. If you stand on the bank of the dam in the morning or at sunset, the mind is bound to feel you are in heaven. Gorgaburu hill is very close to this dam, you can be climbed on his back with love, it is another experience. There is a small field on the bank of the dam. People who come to rock climbing camp here. Now the Eco park is being built with the help of the Government. It is expected to gain more popularity as a picnic spot once it is ready. From Malgudi Resort, you can visit Pardi Dam.
