Our visit Nuremberg travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Nuremberg Bratwurst, beer and pretzels), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting castles, churches and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Nuremberg tourism brochure, Nuremberg itinerary or Nuremberg, Germany city tour.

10 Things to do in Nuremberg, Germany travel guide video transcript:

We started our day by taking the U-bahn to the centre of town and getting off at Lorenzkirche. This put us on the south bank of the Pegnitz River, where we took the opportunity to browse some markets before visiting St Lorenz Church.

This is a beautiful gothic church complete with pointed vaults, stained glass windows, and sculptures.

From there we walked across one of the city’s many bridges and continued on to the Beautiful Fountain (yes, that’s the name), searching for a bit of good luck.

One of Nuremberg’s most famed attractions is the Imperial Castle located in the northwest end of the Old Town. The castle is a testament to the power of the Holy Roman Empire during the middle ages.

And we couldn’t come all the way to Nuremberg and not try the famed Nuremberger sausage! We went to Bratwursthäusle, right in the heart of the Old Town by St Sebaldus Church.

Later that afternoon we went into Nuremberg’s deep underground on a tour of the historic beer cellars. Nuremberg has been a beer brewing city for centuries.

While in town, we also took a walk down Weißgerbergasse, which may just be one of the prettiest streets in Nuremberg. This curved cobbled street is lined with half-timbered houses.

Albrecht Dürer’s one time home is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. He was a German Renaissance artist across many mediums, but he is best known for revolutionizing printmaking and elevating it as an art form. At certain times of day, they offer a guided tour with an actress who plays the role of Agnes Dürer, the artist’s wife.

The bridge we were looking for is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, or the Holy Spirit Hospital. It’s not a bridge in the usual sense of the word, rather a medieval building that sits across part of the Pegnitz River.

On a more serious note, we couldn’t leave Nuremberg without also visiting the Dokuzentrum, also known as the The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds.

And that’s a wrap for a our guide to Nuremberg, Germany. If you have any other suggestions of cool things to do in Nuremberg, feel free to share those with fellow travellers in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Germany video series showcasing German food, German culture and German cuisine.

BEST THINGS TO DO IN NUREMBERG GERMANY (TRAVEL GUIDE)

There are plenty of things to do in Nuremberg. In our Nuremberg Germany travel guide, we show you how to spend 24 hours exploring the best sights.

Our first stop on our Nuremberg city tour was at Zum Gulden Stern. Here we tried the original Nuremberg Röstla (grilled bratwurst). They were delicious!

After lunch, we made our way to Henkersteg (Hangman's Bridge). From the bridge we could also see Weinstadel, the famous half timbered house. Next we found Weißgerbergasse. This street is filled with beautiful half timbered houses that were owned by leathermakers.

We then made our way to Albrecht Durer's House. He was one of Germany's most famous artists. His house is located in Tiergärtnertor Square. This square is filled with red and white houses, and it's the perfect place to try Nuremberg's iconic red beer (rotbier) at Hausbrauerei Altstadthof. Not very far away from the square is the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg. We walked up the steep hill to get great views of the city of Nuremberg. After visiting Nuremberg's castle, we walked to Haupmarkt.

Hauptmarkt is Nuremberg's main market located in the Old Town. In the market area is Schöner Brunnen (Beautiful Fountain). The fountain has a gold ring that you are supposed to turn for good luck. Also in the main market is Frauenkirche, Nuremberg. The church has a mechanical clock that puts on a show at noon. While in the market, we wanted to try the famous Nuremberg gingerbread so we went to Wicklein - Die Lebküchnerei.

After the yummy gingerbread, we made our way to St. Lorenz Church (Lorenzkirche). The church houses a very large organ with 12,000 pipes. Another Nuremberg attraction to check out is the Way of Human Rights. It's an outdoor sculpture with columns that are engraved with human rights. Our last stop in Nuremberg was at Handwerkerhof Nuremberg. It's a medieval shopping village with restaurants and workshops.

NUREMBERG: Germany's most historic city ????????️, top sites to see & visit

City of Nuremberg Germany - top sites to see and visit, tour of Nuremberg in Germany. Let's go visit Nuremberg (Nürnberg), Bavaria’s second-largest city and the unofficial capital of Franconia, which is an energetic place where the nightlife is intense and the beer is as dark as coffee. As one of Bavaria’s biggest draws Nuremberg (Nürnberg) is alive with visitors year-round, but especially during the spectacular Christmas market. For centuries, Nuremberg (Nürnberg) was the undeclared capital of the Holy Roman Empire and the preferred residence of most German kings, who kept their crown jewels here. Rich and stuffed with architectural wonders, Nuremberg (Nürnberg) was also a magnet for famous artists, though the most famous of all, Albrecht Dürer, was actually born here. ‘Nuremberg shines throughout Germany like a sun among the moon and stars,’ gushed Martin Luther. By the 19th century, the city had become a powerhouse in Germany’s industrial revolution.
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE ►
The Nazis saw a perfect stage for their activities in working class Nuremberg. It was here that the fanatical party rallies were held, the boycott of Jewish businesses began and the infamous Nuremberg Laws outlawing German citizenship for Jewish people were enacted. On 2 January 1945, Allied bombers reduced the city to landfill, killing 6000 people in the process.
After WWII the city was chosen as the site of the war crimes tribunal, now known as the Nuremberg Trials. Later, the painstaking reconstruction – using the original stone – of almost all the city’s main buildings, including the castle and old churches in the Altstadt, returned the city to some of its former glory.

WELCOME to NUREMBERG. Things to do in the city.

We spend the day in Nuremberg, Germany. Home to a medieval old town and 1000 year old castle. Nuremberg is the second largest city in Bavaria. Nuremberg is an energetic city, with a great nightlife, amazing architecture, and one of the best destinations for beer lovers. As one of the most important cities in Bavaria, Nuremberg draws visitors all year around, but specially during Christmas when the beautiful Christmas market becomes the city’s biggest attraction.

SUBSCRIBE! -
------------------

When people think of Nuremberg, they usually think of gingerbread, toys, Christmas, the Nazi Party Rally Grounds or the Nuremberg Trials. The old town of Nuremberg is much more than this and indeed Nuremberg probably comes closest to many tourists' expectations of a typical German city: on the one hand one can find half-timbered houses, gothic churches within a medieval city wall in the shadow of the towering imperial castle, which was one of the most important residences of the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. On the other hand, Nuremberg and the surrounding cities are home to many well-known German companies, e.g. Adidas, Diehl, Faber-Castell, Playmobil, Puma and several divisions of industrial giant Siemens. Finally, Nuremberg even can live up to culinary expectations with breweries and beergardens and its most famous dish, the Nuremberg sausages with Sauerkraut.

Imperial Castle, Nuremberg:
The Imperial Castle is Nuremberg's most famous landmark. From the 'Freiung' (sanctuary) and Sinwell Tower visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the old quarter. Other attractions at the castle include the Imperial Castle Museum and the imperial apartments.

The rock cut cellars of Nuremberg:

Through many centuries, the citizens of Nuremberg have built vaults and corridors into the bright red sandstone below their city. In 1380, the widespread cellar system was mentioned in a document for the first time. In all those years, the cellars were primarily used for the ripening and storage of beer – mostly the city's famous red beer.

Today, the craft brewery Hausbrauerei Altstadthof again uses a small part of the widespread maze-like cellar system to ripen and store specialty beers and beer schnaps.

Of course, visiting the craft brewery and the whisky distillery will be part of the tours. Afterwards, there will be time to taste the local specialties in the brewery tavern. Just come around, it is worth a visit!

Nuremberg is the second most visited city in Germany. The city's old town is a great attraction with its medieval feel, which is why Nuremberg was chosen as the location for the Christmas market. The Christmas market is the largest in Germany and attracts millions of visitors each year. I love Nuremberg because of its great attractions and historical sites, but I also love the Christmas market and its great atmosphere.

Places to see in ( Fuerth - Germany )

Places to see in ( Fuerth - Germany )

Fürth is a city in northern Bavaria, Germany, in the administrative division of Middle Franconia. It is now contiguous with the larger city of Nuremberg, the centres of the two cities being only 7 km apart. The city of Fuerth is a small city located in Middle Franconia. Located nearby the larger city of Nuremberg, it was first mentioned in 1007 AD. In the year 2007, the city celebrated its thousandth anniversary. During the 30 year war in the 17th-century, the whole city was almost completely destroyed by fire set by the Croatian soldiers. It survived other wars such as World War I & II and grew to be a city in its own rights. The first German railway was opened here in 1835 which connects to Nuremberg. There’s a lot of cool things to see in this city and we’ve compiled a list of 10 places specially for you.

The beautiful Stadpark is a green lung right in the middle of the city. There are loads of things you can do here. You can go for a jog by the running trails or simply ride a bicycle around the bike paths. The Wolfsgruber mill (also known as Wolfsgrubermühle in German) is one of the oldest mills in Fuerth. It was first mentioned in the early 17th-century and belonged to the Eckart family. It was then passed on to the Wolfsgruber family in the 19th-century.

The Logenhaus was first erected by the famous German freemason, Leonhard Bürger as a place for the Masonic lodge of Truth and Friendship in 1890. The unique blend of many different kinds of historical styles makes this building one of its kind in Bavaria. The Grüner Markt (also known as Marktplatz) is an open area which is in the centre of the old town of Fuerth. The place is lined with a variety of cafes, beautiful courtyards and an array of interesting shops.

The Fuerth State Museum has a massive collection of anything and everything that has to do with the history of the city. The collections were first collected by Conrad Gebhardt, the merchant and deputy of the Reichs parliament. Located at the basement of the Fuerth Town Hall, immerse yourself in awe and mystery as you delve into the minds of the criminals from the past to present in this museum.

Hainburg Nature Reserve huge 213 hectare (526 acre) nature reserve was first listed as a conservation area in 1995. Before that, it was a training ground for the US Army. The Schloss Burgfarrnbach is a neo-classical castle which was made in the early 19th-century. It is now home to the scientific library and countless other city archives which provide the basis for the permanent exhibitions in the Stadtmusuem.

The Rundfunkmuseum is a radio museum which was founded in 1993. If you’re an audiophile, a visit to this place is a must. The Alte Veste (Old Veste) is a tower hill castle which was erected as an observation tower by the Berg family in the 13th-century. During the town war, it was overrun by the Nurembergers and the Old Veste was abandoned in the late 14th-century.
