The Canton of Valais / Wallis is one of Switzerland’s most touristy and fascinating regions. It is well-known due to the world-famous Matterhorn, the villages of Zermatt and Saas Fee and the many other skiing resorts. However, the Canton of Valais / Wallis offers way more than these: There are plenty of other attractions such as dams, villages, mountain tops, panoramas, zip lines, lakes, funiculars, glaciers museums, thermal baths, hiking trails, bisses, castles and train lines. This video summarizes the Top 15 attractions in brief, including all the necessary information one needs when planning his/her trip to the Canton of Valais / Wallis.
A highlight is definitely Zermatt with the Gornergrat and the panorama up to the Matterhorn. Furthermore, Zermatt is a wonderful village to visit. The Aletsch Glacier is also a place one shall not miss when visiting the canton of Valais. It's the largest glacier of the Alps. Wonderful is going up to the Eggishorn for the sunrise tour in July/August. The Aletsch Glacier is going to glow in a beautiful golden color. The old town of Sion is very stunning: Italian vibes in the Canton of Valais. Very much alive and apparently a foodie lab! Thus, do not miss to take your dinner there: Hérens beef, valaisans tomatoes and apricots are local specialities. Also visit the 2 castles of Sion. The Pierre Gianadda Foundation is considered to be one of Switzerland's top museums. The museum hosts a brilliant collection of paintings (Cézanne, Picasso and Mathys), old cars and roman artifacts. A trip up to the Mont-Fort near the village of Verbier is another highlight of Valais / Wallis. The 360° panorama up there allows you to see the Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn... on your way down, better take the zip line: It's going to be very thrilling! At Martigny, you may also visit the Barryland museum. It's a foundation that takes care of the Barry dog breed; one of Switzerland's national animals. It's a very family friendly attraction. Saas-Fee is a beautiful village to visit, surely because of it's many glaciers. The Metro Alpin up to the Mittelallalin and the ice pavilion are a highlight. Take a break at the baths of Leukerbad. This is premium wellness up in the Swiss Alps! Consider bathing at the Hotels of the Thermal bath of Leukerbad village. Really nice is also the Grande Dixence dam, the largest dam of Switzerland. Very thrilling is the zipline just along the dam! The underground Lake at Saint-Léonard is considered being one of Switzerland's most unique natural treasures. It's a great attraction to visit during rainy weather. The dam at Emosson with the world's steepest funicular and the panoramic train is another hidden gem attraction of Valais. Visit it and enjoy a brilliant vista over Mont-Blanc! Relax at the Lake of Champex-Lac, one of the best lakes one could visit in Switzerland. Pure nature and few people. The Bisse de Clavau is a serene hiking trail in the middle of the vineyards above Sion. From there you may enjoy a great view over the Rhone valley and the Swiss Alps. The Stockalper palace of Brig is a place for people who love to visit medieval heritage places. It's a castle with beautiful arcardes. Not the glacier express but the steam railway train over the Furkapass are considered the most stunning trainline one can take in the canton of Valais / Wallis. Today we are in the Val de Bagnes making our way up to the famous ski resort that is Verbier.
Verbier is a village located in south-western Switzerland in the canton of Valais. It is a holiday resort and ski area in the Swiss Alps and is recognized as one of the premier backcountry ski resorts in the world. Some areas are covered with snow all year. Skiers have settled in the Verbier area in order to take advantage of the steep slopes, varied conditions, and resort culture.
With it's the gateway to the 4 Vallées ski area. Trails on Mont Fort Glacier have views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. Mont Gelé is known for its off-piste ski slopes. South, in secluded Haut Val de Bagnes nature reserve, waterfalls cascade into Mauvoisin Lake, site of the arched Mauvoisin Dam.

Top 10 WINTER Switzerland – Best of Snow Season – Christmas, Skiing and Action
Winter is no doubt a magical season. There is a lot to experience during the cold months, but the question is, what are the best things to do? Certainly going up to the Swiss Alps, enjoying the snow, visiting villages after snowfall and enjoying Christmas and the cultural season. Visit the magical valley of Lauterbrunnen with its very beautiful after snowfall and especially when the many waterfalls are frozen. The best time to visit would be during January and February. Roam around the village, get to see the many viewpoints at where you may take great photos. During Winter, you also may go for hiking. A great secret tip would be a visit to the Zinal glacier, which has a natural ice cave that is safe to see during January and February. The hike takes roughly 90 minutes and then you will arrive in a wonderful ice cave with the bluest light you could get to see during daytime. The Blausee is a tranquil lake that is very nice during snowfall. It’s a touristy spot but always worth a visit when there is snow. During December, there is also a Christmas market that is not held on a yearly basis. When there is snowfall and the Christmas market is on, you will find yourself in a perfect Winter Wonderland. Arosa is a very family-friendly tourist destination that also has a great ski resort. There are many slopes to be tried out, a panoramic viewpoint up on the Weisshorn, a squirrel trail and of course many great hotels to stay at. A very cozy one is the Arosa Kulm Hotel that has a long tradition. Refuel yourself at the spa, enjoy the great food and the comfortable rooms. It’s certainly a great idea to visit a village up in the Swiss Alps. A beautiful one would be Bosco/Gurin. Bosco Gurin often has snow and is described by many as a true Winter Wonderland. The village is seldomly busy, so you may enjoy a great time up there away from the touristy hotspots. The village has a beautiful blend of Ticinese and Walser architecture and is the only village of this kind in Switzerland. Stay beyond the sunset to enjoy a beautiful Winter Wonderland mood. Nearby Lauterbrunnen is the village of Mürren that is car-free and a great place to be visited. The village is quiet an calm despite laying in one of the most touristy regions of Switzerland. You may enjoy a fantastic toboggan run in there or go up to the Schilthorn to enjoy a great 360° panorama over the Swiss Alps. Engelberg is another tourist hotspot but during Winter definitely worth a visit. Go up to Mount Titlis to enjoy a stunning panoramic view over the snow covered Alps and try snowtubing at one of the middle stations. Engelberg and mount Titlis surprisingly not a very expensive places and thus, despite being a hotspot, a budget-friendly tourist attraction. Going up to the Grindelwald First is another Top attraction to be visited during Winter in Switzerland. From there you get a nice view over the Swiss mountains of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and you also can go for the thrilling First cliff walk. Grindelwald is one of the most beautiful Winter villages of Switzerland and a great place to ski at. The First is quite high up and considered quite snowsure. A good hotel to stay at in Grindelwald would be the Hotel Sunstar. Zermatt is no doubt one of the best among these Top 10 Winter places in Switzerland. There are too many great things to do up there. Taking a magical Winter train ride up to the Gornergrat, heading up to the Rothorn or Kleinmatterhorn or just roaming around this beautiful, peaceful and happening alpine village. Zermatt is in particular magical during snowfall, it really looks truly enchanting. During Winter, there is a high chance to enjoy breathtaking views up to the Matterhorn. The best place to be visited would be the Mont-Fort that offers the greatest 360° panorama over the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. You can see Mont-Blanc, the Matterhorn and various other famous peaks of the Alps. During Winter, you usually will have a good chance for great visibility. The Mont-Fort is part of Verbier and 4-Vallées, a world famous tourism region in Switzerland. Verbier is a very beautiful village and certainly worth a visit, especially after heavy snowfall.

BEST 360 Panorama in Switzerland! Breathtaking Swiss Alps and Zipline
The best 360 panorama of Switzerland and the Swiss Alps is not in Zermatt, not in Interlaken and not at the Titlis. It’s somewhere at where you would not have thought to look at. I came here for the first time in 2021 during Summer and went again during Winter. The panorama is fantastic, you can see the Matterhorn, Dents du Midi and the Mont Blanc and of course more peaks of the Alps in Italy, France and Switzerland. The Mont-Fort is among the cheaper attractions of Switzerland, it costs you not even 100.- CHF to go up there. You will need to take five cabin rides, starting in Bagnes, continuing to Verbier and then up to the Col de Gentiannes to access the last cabin ride. Believe it or not: the highest located Zipline of Europe is at the Mont-Fort. You will have a thrilling adventure of sliding down over 1400 m length. How cool is that? The panorama at the Mont-Fort is brilliant, the place is less crowded and thus perfect for you to enjoy.

Val de Bagnes Ride in a Sunny Switzerland - 4K Motorcycle Tour
Explore the Val de Bagnes on a great motorcycle drive in the Swiss Alps on a bright sunny day, on a Honda CB500X to the Dam of Mauvoisin.
The Val de Bagnes is a 25 km long glacial valley, ran down by a 31 km long river called the Drance of Bagnes. The highest peak of the valley is the Grand Combin (4,314 m). And known for its cheese production.
It's also a valley prone to many natural risks, the biggest of them comes from the glacier breakup of Giétro and the flooding that comes with it. As in 1595 where the flood covered 40 km of land, 150 people died on that event and hundreds of buildings were destroyed. A second one is in 1818, even if local people saw it coming months before and started draining the glacier dam holding back the river. But on 16th June, 20 million cubic meters of water hit the valley with the flood peaking to 20 m high, killing 40 people and destroying many cultural sites, dwellings, bridges and mountain pastures.

Driving around VERBIER resort | Looking for a pure break?
Verbier, the most cosmopolitan holiday resort in Valais, is situated on a sunny plateau and offers a unique panoramic view of the Mont-Blanc and the Combins massif.
In winter, the extraordinary skiing region offers limitless pleasure for advanced skiers from all over the world as well as for beginners. In summer, mountainbike and hiking enthusiasts can choose from among numerous marked trails. The alpine village has countless activities in store for families, senior citizens and young people alike: paragliding, heliski, sledding, golf, museums, and local produce to try.
Winter
As soon as the first snow falls, Verbier becomes a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts. The 4 Valleys ski zone − with no less than 410 km of ski runs and over 89 ski lifts – embraces five resorts: Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon and La Tzoumaz. A cable car takes skiers to the summit of Mont-Fort (altitude: 3330 m), from where the descent is one of the most superb black runs in the Alps.
Non-skiers can also enjoy the winter countryside on a snowshoe walk, by taking the hiking trails or launching out on the longest toboggan run in the French-speaking region of Switzerland (length: 10 km). The resort of Verbier is known to ski tourers as a staging-post on the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt.
Summer
Over 500 km of signposted trails guide hiking aficionados across the Verbier heights and the Val de Bagnes. Seasoned hikers can set out to discover classic routes such as the Tour du Val de Bagnes and Tour des Combins. Mountain-bike enthusiasts will find plenty of itineraries – no less than 826 km – and a bike park. The region also offers various other leisure pursuits: 2 golf courses, climbing routes, an adventure park, paragliding and many activities besides. One attraction not to be missed: the climb to the summit of Mont-Fort, with sweeping views from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc.
