Come accade dalla scorsa stagione, di tanto in tanto, Borghi d’Italia diventa Capoluoghi. Con questa puntata vi portiamo alla scoperta di Verona, una delle città più belle del Veneto e dell’Italia. Nel corso del programma incontriamo il sindaco, il vescovo, i volontari della Verona Minor Hierusalem e gli altri protagonisti della vita cittadina. Visitiamo il centro storico, il magnifico vescovado, la cattedrale, la basilica di San Zeno, la maestosa Arena, i musei civici con le opere del Bellini, Veronese, Tiepolo, Mantegna etc. Poi, proseguiamo per la casa di Giulietta; percorriamo la suggestiva Romea Strata ma ampio spazio è dedicato all’itinerario, conosciuto fin dall’antichità, della “Piccola Gerusalemme”. Naturalmente come tradizione non mancano i piatti tradizionali e le altre tipicità del luogo con in testa il Pandoro e il vino Amarone.

Sant'Antonio in Polesine is a Catholic monastic complex of the nuns of the Order of Saint Benedict located in Ferrara, Italy and dedicated to Anthony the Great. Administratively, it is part of the deanery of Ferrara, part of the Archdiocese of Ferrara-Comacchio. The name in Polesine does not refer to the area of Polesine, but to its original situation, high ground surrounded by water. The monastery, founded in the early Middle Ages by Augustinians hermits, stood on an island in the middle of the Po River.
Beatrice II d’Este, daughter of marquis Azzo Novello and a Benedictine nun, received the monastery from her father as a gift for her community. Around 1257, Beatrice moved into the convent, where she died in 1264 to be beatified in 1270. Since then, the monastery has been under the patronage of the House of Este. Only the convent church is open to the public. The church is in baroque style, with a 17th-century frescoed ceiling by Francesco Ferrari.
The nuns' church has side chapels with frescoes of the school of Giotto—on the left, Storie dell'infanzia di Gesù e della Vita della Vergine done between 1315 and 1320. On the right is Storie della Passione—and a central chapel with frescoes of multiple periods, including an Annunciazione of Domenico Panetti (15th century) and a ceiling with 16th-century grotesques. The presence of pagan images in an ecclesiastical setting, bears witness to the close ties between the monastery and the court, where such decorations were fashionable in the late 1600s. There is also a sculpted and gilt altarpiece depicting the Flagellazione by Nicolò Roselli (16th century). The complex also includes a cloister and a monumental tomb of the founder, Beatrice.

Well, this is it, this is the city I moved to. Rovigo Italy, a small city of roughly 50,000 people in the Veneto region. It's situated about 70km north of Bologna. I originally visited for a few meetings and without any intention of moving here. Now just a matter of months later, I call Rovigo, Italy my home. Rovigo is not a major tourist destination, but actually, a place where people live their life. Life in Italy depending on where you live will differ, and after having lived in the distinctly Austrian influenced region of Alto Adige/Südtirol, I can say this has been quite a welcomed change. Having lived in Alto Adige previously, now living in Veneto, it really feels like I finally live in Italy :) It actually feels like I moved to Italy, but for real this time.

L'autostrada A31 Rovigo - Piovene Rocchette (detta della Val d'Astico) attraversa da sud a nord la provincia di Rovigo, la provincia di Padova e la provincia di Vicenza, partendo dalla SS 434 Transpolesana, nei pressi di Badia Polesine, e terminando a Piovene Rocchette. Il suo percorso di 88,7 km è gestito interamente dalla società Autostrada Brescia-Verona-Vicenza-Padova S.p.A.
I lavori di costruzione del tratto a nord dell'A4 sono durati 4 anni, dal 1972 al 1976, e all'inizio venne definita scherzosamente Pi-Ru-Bi, dalle lettere iniziali dei cognomi dei tre politici democristiani Flaminio Piccoli, Mariano Rumor e Antonio Bisaglia (originari, rispettivamente, delle tre città di Trento, Vicenza e Rovigo, che sarebbero state unite dall'autostrada), i quali vollero fortemente, tra la fine degli anni sessanta e i primi settanta, tale arteria.
Il via libera del Consiglio dei ministri alla realizzazione della Valdastico sud è avvenuta nel dicembre 2002 mentre l'approvazione definitiva dell'ANAS è del 13 maggio 2004.
Nel febbraio del 2005 si è trovato un accordo tra le tre province (Vicenza, Padova, Rovigo) e 22 Comuni, per ultimare a sud quel troncone di 36 km costruito negli anni settanta.
Nel maggio 2005 però il TAR del Veneto accolse un ricorso degli enti privati sopracitati e annullò l'ordine di avanzamento dei lavori. Toccò al Consiglio di Stato ribaltare tale sentenza, accogliendo le richieste delle autorità locali, sostenute da una petizione popolare. Nonostante ciò, nel settembre 2005 presero il via i lavori per il prolungamento dell'autostrada fino all'interconnessione con la superstrada Transpolesana a Badia Polesine in Provincia di Rovigo, per un'estensione complessiva di 54 km circa.
Dal 2005 al 2012 è stato costruito il tratto a sud A4-Longare Montegaldella (apertura 22 settembre 2012). Nel 2013 è stato aperto il tratto seguente a sud fino ad Albettone-Barbarano Vicentino. Il 30 giugno 2014 è stato aperto il tratto da Albettone ad Agugliaro. Il 15 dicembre 2014 è stato aperto il tratto sud dalla Superstrada Transpolesana al casello di Santa Margherita d'Adige. Il tratto da Noventa Vicentina a Santa Margherita d'Adige è stato aperto lunedì 23 marzo 2015.
L'ultimo tratto inaugurato, tra Noventa Vicentina e Agugliaro, è stato aperto il 31 agosto 2015.
L'autostrada è a due corsie per senso di marcia più corsia d'emergenza e ha undici uscite autostradali: Badia Polesine, Piacenza d'Adige, Santa Margherita d'Adige, Noventa Vicentina, Agugliaro, Albettone-Barbarano Vicentino, Longare - Montegaldella, Vicenza Nord, Dueville, Thiene-Schio e Piovene Rocchette, che coincide con il termine dell'autostrada.
Il ponte sul fiume Adige che attraversa il fiume tra i comuni di Badia Polesine e Piacenza d'Adige, di lunghezza complessiva di 1087 metri, è un ponte strallato lungo 590 metri, la cui campata centrale è la più lunga in Italia.

Oh, you can’t get an appointment at the Italian Consulate for two years?
We understand that not everyone has the time to wait. Some people need to get their Italian citizenship and passport as soon as possible. Perhaps you have a job opportunity in Europe that requires EU citizenship, or are planning to retire in a European Country. Or maybe you just want to move to Europe and stay there longer than the three month maximum of a tourist visa. Often times, timing can be an important factor when acquiring your dual citizenship. Don't worry, we have a solution for you!
Applying at the consulate is not the only way to get your Italian citizenship by descent. Italian citizenship law also allows individuals to apply directly in Italy where the citizenship application can be completed within a fraction of the time.
So what do you need to do?
First, call us here at ICAP where we can explain the various towns where you can Apply in Italy. Once you have decided on a town you will travel to Italy where you must stay until your citizenship application is completed which takes on average 60 to 90 days depending on the Municipality.
Second, you will register as a resident at the Town Registry where you will receive a Codice Fiscale which is similar to an American Social Security card.
Third, you will apply for a Permesso di Soggiorno, or Permit to Stay for reasons of applying for Italian citizenship. This establishes your residence as opposed to simply being a tourist in Italy.
Finally, you must submit all the required Italian and US documents with official translations.
Once your citizenship has been registered you will receive your certificate of birth abroad and certificate of Italian citizenship. With these documents you can then register at the Italian Consulate where you legally reside and apply there for your Italian Passport upon your return home.
