The Last Coal Fired Steamship in the US (SS Badger) ???? 60 miles across Lake Michigan

We ride the SS Badger from Ludington, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin 60 miles across Lake Michigan.
➡️ Join us as we ride the last coal fired steamship in the United States. We tour the ship, watch the loading and unloading, tour our stateroom, play games and more.

The SS Badger is the last coal fired steam ship operating in the United States at 410 feet long and almost 60 feet wide, it can carry 600 passengers and 180 vehicles, everything from mopeds to tractor trailers.
➡️ The SS Badger is a rail car ferry built in 1952 and is a National Historic Landmark.
She was converted to a automobile ferry in 1992.
The ship which still has most of its historic equipment and fixtures. The safety and navigation equipment has been updated, but much of it is as it was back in the day.

We were very surprised how well preserved the ship was on the inside. Everything from the door locks and electrical equipment seemed as good as they were 60 years ago.
➡️ We also got the chance to participate in some nostalgic fun playing “Badger Bingo”.before finally arriving at Wisconsin.

BOISE, IDAHO: The WORST City In The USA To Live In - Horrid Rabid Badger Infestation

We left Seattle and traveled across some of the most beautiful countryside in existence to our destination, Boise, Idaho. While there I talked with several locals, who claimed that Boise is a terrible, ugly city that is very cold, overrun with dangerous badgers and Big Foot was even mentioned. So I explored several areas of the city to see for myself. Includes drone footage of the skyline.

Top Things to Do in Madison, Wisconsin | 10K Road Trip Vlog 41

The State Capitol Building is the #1 thing to do in Madison, Wisconsin, and for good reason. It's AMAZING. We've been to a ton of incredible buildings all around the world, from Europe to Asia, and this deserves to be on the list.

The architecture and materials used are beautiful. The tour is interesting and informative (and FREE) and lasts for one hour. Tours are daily except holidays, from 9am to 3pm on the hour except for a break at noon. Sundays are only 1-3pm. The summer has an additional 4pm tour and apparently the observation deck is only open in summer. Check out all the tour details on the Capitol's website:

We highly recommend the tour, but you can always take the self-guided tour if you want.

The University of Wisconsin is also at the top of the list of things to do in Madison. The campus is beautiful, but the main reason you should go there is to visit the Daily Scoop (Babcock Hall Ice Cream) located at Memorial Union Terrace, right on the lake on campus. It's so creamy, so smooth, and so delicious. Let me know if you get the Freshman 15 - that's 15 scoops, 5 toppings, whipped cream, and a cherry!

Number 3 on the list of top things to do in Madison is to eat the Fried Cheese Curds. We got ours from The Old Fashioned because it is one of the highest rated restaurants in the city and it's conveniently right next to the Capitol Building. The fried cheese curds are fantastic and you should plan a cheat day around them.

Thanks for joining us on this road trip! We hope you're having as much fun as we are. :)

Ludington is the largest city and county seat of Mason County with a population just over 8,000 people. Ludington is a harbor town located on Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Pere Marquette River. Ludington is also the home port of the SS Badger, a vehicle and passenger ferry with daily service in the summer across Lake Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
