Bad Urach
We made a quick trip to Bad Urach for the afternoon and decided to see what all the hub-bub was about. It was a very quiet Saturday and we got to see the village, the city castle and a castle ruin. Definitely a hidden treasure that we will have to visit again!
Wandering around the most beautiful market square - fairytale Bad Urach, Germany
This wasn´t meant to happen, but I am so glad it did. I was very tired that day, so we thought we´d quickly visit the Blautopf in Blaubeuren to let the dogs have a walk on our way home from the Black Forest. But when you fall asleep, things can all change while you´re dreaming...
And it was like a dream to wake up in Bad Urach, Swabia. So, in spite of an injured foot, I filmed as much as I could and I hope you´ll forgive me for not showing you more of this wonderful, fairytale town and surrounding area.
I hope you enjoy the longer than usual vlog at the end. I obviously was very tickled by what had happened.

In this video we are going to see the magical waterfall and the ruins of Hohen Urach castle in the Bad Urach town.
Bad Urach is a town in the district of Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 14 km east of Reutlingen, at the foot of the Swabian Alps and is known for its spa and therapeutic bath.
Apart from visiting these places, it is a perfect place for hiking.
You can arrive in the city via road or rail. From Stuttgart, it takes around one hour to drive by car and around 1.2 hours via train.
If you are planning to come on a weekend with car, then try to come early otherwise it is really hard to find parking place.
The parking place and train station are next to each other. Also there is a restaurant next to the parking place, Maisental, where you can grab coffee and snacks.

Just a short drive south from Stuttgart is the beautiful and historic town of Bad Urach. One of the many things to do is visit the scenic and dramatic waterfall in the forest. It is only accessible only by footpath, and if you're feeling really up to the task, the castle ruin of HohenUrach is only a few more kilometers to walk.

Bad Urach, Castel Hohen Urach and Waterfalls! Most beautiful hiking trail of Germany voted in 2016
▬▬▬▬▬▬CONTENT OF THE VIDEO▬▬▬▬▬▬
We are visiting the Uracherwaterfalls and the Castel Hohenurach near #Bad Urach a great medival town. We are hiking on a roundtrip that covers the castels ruins and the main Waterfall. We also where here to cover other parts of the Trail that are not that commonly used. (link below)
The Uracher waterfalls are counting as some of the best natural wonders of the Swabian Alb. The premium hike starts and meanders along a small stream that itself is beautiful leading up to the Uracherwaterfall. From here we go on and visit the ruins of the Castel Hohen Urach that is one of the biggest castel ruin complex in southern germany. It was built in the 11 th century and rebild in the 16th century and was later a württembergisches state Fortress as well as a prison. All that can still be seen or imagined if you are in the Castel. The view is stunning and not only the toen of Bad Urach can be seen.
The outdoor of the Swabian Alb is amazing and it has a lot of trekking to offer, not only the most beautiful hiking trail of Germany of 2016. If you travel to the south of Germany make sure to visit Bad Urach.
We visited the Fohlenhof and a nice overviewpint tower called Hohe Warte and the also beautiful Gütersteiner Waterfalls check out that trip as well.

Everyone who plans to visit Bad Urach gets a good insight into what to expect.
Unfortunately there is no video of the nearby Gütersteiner waterfalls
as both the ascent to the Urach waterfall and many hiking trails were closed due to falling branches.

A nice hike at the Urach Waterfall in the autumn.
The waterfall is a quick one day trip in south west Germany near Stuttgart. It's situated in a beautiful natural park that offers multiple trails including one that leads to the ruins of the Hohenurach castle.
The hike to the top of the waterfall takes about 30 minutes, without any major obstacles, just some parts where the trail is covered by water. It's worth a quick visit even if you don't get to the top.

Bad Urach Waterfall
About 30 miles south of Stuttgart, Bad Urach offers up a quick escape from the bustle of city life. And one of the chief attractions is the local waterfall. From the small parking area serving visitors to the park, it takes about 15 minutes of hiking to reach the falling water. The path runs alongside the the Brühlbach stream, which gently courses through the Maisen valley.
It's a pretty easy walk, set against a peaceful backdrop of wooded calm. As you approach the waterfall you reach a series of steep steps that take you the rest of the way.
