Munich, Bavaria’s capital, is home to centuries-old buildings and numerous museums. The city is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration and its beer halls, including the famed Hofbräuhaus, founded in 1589. In the Altstadt (Old Town), central Marienplatz square contains landmarks such as Neo-Gothic Neues Rathaus (town hall), with a popular glockenspiel show that chimes and reenacts stories from the 16th century.
Bavaria, officially the Free State of Bavaria, is a federal state in the south-east of Germany. With an area of 70,550.19 square kilometres, Bavaria is the largest German state by land area, comprising roughly a fifth of the total land area of Germany.
Germany is a Western European country with a landscape of forests, rivers, mountain ranges and North Sea beaches. It has over 2 millennia of history. Berlin, its capital, is home to art and nightlife scenes, the Brandenburg Gate and many sites relating to WWII. Munich is known for its Oktoberfest and beer halls, including the 16th-century Hofbräuhaus. Frankfurt, with its skyscrapers, houses the European Central Bank.

Bad Tölz is a charming town located in Bavaria, Germany. In winter, especially at night, the town takes on a serene and picturesque atmosphere. The crisp winter air, coupled with the potential for snowfall, transforms Bad Tölz into a scene straight out of a winter wonderland.
As darkness descends, the streets may be adorned with twinkling lights, creating a magical ambiance. The historic architecture, with its traditional Bavarian charm, may be softly illuminated, casting a warm glow on the cobblestone streets. The Isar River, which runs through the town, might be partially frozen, adding to the beauty of the winter scene.
The Bavarian Alps, which surround Bad Tölz, may be visible in the moonlight or under the soft glow of streetlights. The snow-capped peaks and slopes contribute to the idyllic winter scenery, making the town even more enchanting.

A Historical Journey through Beautiful Bad Tölz (Bavaria, Germany)
Only 50km south of the city of Munich sits the historical town of Bad Tölz. As well as being a spa town, Bad Tölz is famous for its well maintained late-medieval and early-baroque buildings along the Marktstrasse. A short hike up the Kalvarianberg will also bring you to the Kalvarianbergkirche, an 18th century church that sits upon a medieval execution site and provides a beautiful view of the town from above.

Bad Tölz is a historic medieval town located in the south of Bavaria, Germany near the Austrian Border. It is known for a great view of the Alps with the greenish-blue Isar River.
This tour starts from Bad Tölz Town Center and continues along with the Isar riverside. After we cross the river, we hike through the forest and uphill to Kalvarienberg for the panaromic town view. We walk downhill back to the town center to conclude the tour.

Bad Tölz is a city in Germany, a regional center, a resort, located in Bavaria, in the valley of the Isar River. The place at the foot, where the modern thermal spa Bad Tölz is located, was settled immediately after the Ice Age. The Celts, the Romans, and the tribes of the barbarians managed to visit here. And in 1155, the name Tölz first appeared. In this place, the landowner Hainricus de Tolnze built a castle to control the waterway, along which the timber was rafted and the salt was transported. The official version says that the settlement of Tölz appeared in 1180. But the status of the city was given to him only in 1331. The year 1453 was marked by a fire that destroyed the castle, the main street and the church. After this tragedy, the city was restored already in stone. In 1899, the prefix Bad was added to Taurus. This was due to the fact that the healing properties of thermal water were discovered in the city and it began to position itself as a resort.
Bad Tölz, Germany: charming town on the German Alpine Road (Deutsche Alpenstrasse)
Bad Tölz was to be our last major stop on the German Alpine Road (Deutsche Alpenstrasse). After we left, it was getting darker, began to rain, and we had to be in Salzburg, Austria very soon. Of all the wonderful towns we visited on the Alpine Road drive, Bad Tölz seemed to grab me the most - an absolute delight and we saw so very little of it, due to severe time constraints. If we ever return to the region I want to see it again and spend much more time exploring this charming town.

Der Ort Bad Tölz liegt im mittleren Isartal, am nördlichen Eingang zum Isarwinkel, von wo man auf die bayerischen und Nordtiroler Kalkalpen blickt. Die Kreis- und Kurstadt liegt auf ca. 650 bis 700 m ü. NHN und ist somit eine der höchstgelegenen Kreisstädte Deutschlands.
