Bad Godesberg (Kölsch: Bad Jodesbersch) is a municipal district of Bonn, southern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. From 1949 to 1999, while Bonn was the capital of West Germany and later Germany, most foreign embassies were in Bad Godesberg. Some buildings are still used as branch offices or consulates.
Bad Godesberg is located along the hills and cliffs of the west bank of the Rhine river, in west central Germany. Godesberg is also the name of the steep hill, of volcanic origin, on the top of which are the ruins of the Godesburg, a castle destroyed in 1583 during the Cologne War.

Lahnstein offers scenic and picturesque landscape, Roman history, fairytale palaces and forts. It is a beautiful old town with extensive hiking route network, delicious local cuisine and many more.

Apologies for the length of this video -- almost qualifies as documentary; and in a way it is. This is about extending my usual loops in the mountains between Rhine and Ahr by a shorter climb (8 km) and a longer downhill (36 km). The downhill from Ramersbach to Bad Breisig is uncut, the full stretch -- that's why it could run as a documentary ...
I was inspired to ride these roads by ride videos of Marcus Bersheim, a cyclist from Kempenich, who knows the area very well, and has shown its routes in many videos. His channel is here:

From the way down over the hills I have done many videos, just browse my channel for Dernau, so all this video has is the uncut downhill to Dernau through the vineyards -- it is for comparison to the downhill through Vinxtbachtal.
