This Vlog is based on my recent visit to Jhansi Fort(Jhansi ki Rani Lakshmi Bai ka Kila) in Jhansi city of Uttar Pradesh. This is actually Jhansi Fort tour in which you will get to know about the History of Jhansi Fort and I should say it is more like Jhansi Fort documentary. It is better to travel with a local guide so I completed Jhansi Fort tour with Guide. For the entertainment purpose, every evening Jhansi Fort light and sound show is also held here.
A lot of people also want to know the history of Jhansi Fort in telugu, tamil etc but as I know Hindi, so i made this video in my native language. The view here is magnificent and I even thought of taking Jhansi Fort drone view but its not allowed. This Jhansi Fort video reveals all the secrets of the fort(Jhansi Fort ka rahasya) as well. There is a flag hoisting point on the fort which is known for Jhansi Fort Independence Day flag hoisting. If you even plan to visit, don't forget to put on Jhansi Fort status on your Facebook and Instagram.
Jhansi Fort or Jhansi ka Kila is a well known fortress located on a large hilltop known as Bangira, in Uttar Pradesh state of Northern India. It served as a stronghold of the Chandela Kings in Balwant Nagar from the 11th till the 17th century. The Jhansi fort is situated right in the center of Jhansi city. It is at a distance of about 3 km from the Jhansi Railway station. The nearest airport is to Jhansi Fort is Gwalior, which is 103 km away. You can also reach this fort by public convenience like bus by getting down at the Jhansi Museum Bus Stop.
The fort stands strongly in the hilly area clearly shows how the North Indian style of fort construction differs from that of the South. In the Southern India, most of the forts were actually built on the sea beds such as the Bekal Fort in Kerala. The granite walls of this magnificent fort are between 16 and 20 feet thick and on the southern side, the city walls meet. The southern face of this beautiful fort is almost perpendicular. There are 10 gates that give access to the fort. The names of the gates are Khanderao Gate, Datia Gate, Bhanderi Gate(Rani laxmi bai escaped from this gate in 1857 battle), Unnao Gate, BadaGaon Gate, Laxmi Gate, Sagar Gate, Orchha Gate, Saiyar Gate and Chand Gate. Notable things to see in the fort are the Shiva temple, Ganesh temple at the entrance, and the Kadak Bijli cannon that was used in the uprising of 1857. The memorial board reminds one of the hair-raising feat of the Rani Lakshmibai in jumping on horseback from the fort. History
The construction of the Jhansi fort is known to be done by the Bundela Rajput chief and the ruler of the kingdom of Orchha Veer Singh ju Deo Bundela in 1613. It is known to be one of the strongholds of the Bundelas. In 1728, Mohammed Khan Bangash attacked Maharaja Chattrasal. Peshwa Bajirao helped Maharaja Chattrasal in defeating the Mughal army. As a mark of gratitude, Maharaja Chattrasal offered some part of his state, that also included Jhansi, to Peshwa Bajirao. In 1742 Naroshanker was made the subedar of Jhansi. During his tenure of 15 years, not only he extended the strategically important Jhansi fort (the extension is called Shankergarh), but he also built other buildings. In 1757, after Naroshanker was called back by the Peshwa. Madhav Govind Kakirde and then Babulal Kanahai were made the subedars of Jhansi. From 1766 to 1769 Vishwas Rao Laxman served as the subedar of Jhansi. Then Raghunath Rao (II) Newalkar was appointed the subedar of Jhansi. He was known to be a very able administrator, increasing the revenue of the state and building both the MahaLakshmi Temple and the Raghunath Temple.
