/// ABOUT US ///
Hi! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Ecuador. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! During our last year of university, we spent 4 months in Honduras on a semester abroad and fell in love with Latin America. Since then, we began planning and saving to do an extensive Latin America tour. 2020 delayed those plans by half a year but during this time stuck in BC, we explored a new hobby (like everyone in the pandemic) of videography and photography. We are now using our new skills to document our adventures around Ecuador. Our desire through these videos is to provide helpful and inspiring content for other travelers while also showing people around the world how beautiful and underrated Ecuador truly is! WHAT TO DO IN BAÑOS + WHAT DOES IT COST? // ECUADOR TRAVEL VLOG

There are so many activities to choose from in Ecuador's adventure capital, Banos de Agua Santa! In this video we bike to Pailon del Diagblo, visit a high wire park called Banos Parque Aventura, rent a Jeep to drive up to Casa del Arbol (the swing at the end of the world) and cap off our visit to Banos with a trip up to Las Manos de Dios for some epic views of
Tungurahua Volcano. Throughout the video with share the cost of everything so you can see how much money you can expect to spend on your trip to Banos!

We had a hard time deciding what to do in Banos de Agua Santa because there are so many great options! The one thing we knew we had to do was rent some bikes and ride them all the way to Pailon del Diablo to check out this epic waterfall. What we did not expect was the near-army crawl we had to do to get up close to the waterfall! That turned out to be good practice for the high-wire circuit we attempted afterwards, which we couldn't pass up for the price tag of only $20. This adult-sized jungle gym ended with a zipline and turned out to be way more fun than we expected. You can find the company at:

The next day we rented a set of wheels so we could drive ourselves to a few cool spots near town. The first was Luna Volcan where we got our first glimpse of Banos from above before heading higher up the hill to Casa del Arbol. Unfortunately, Nicole ended up getting super sick here and never got to swing at the end of the world, but her bestie Kayla stepped in and tried the swing as besties do :)

The last activity we wanted to try before leaving Banos was taking a chiba (party bus) up to Las Manos del Dios (the Hands of God). We stumbled upon a random party when we first entered the site and joined the crowd before finally checking out the Hands of God and catching our final views of Tungurahua Volcano.

Banos Travel Guide - Exploring beautiful Ecuador

Banos Travel Guide - Exploring beautiful Ecuador

Baños (de Agua Santa) is a small city in the Andean highlands of Ecuador under the smoke of volcano Tungurahua. Its name, which is Spanish for Baths (of sacred water), comes from the famous hydrothermal springs in the area. It's equally popular with foreigners as with Ecuadorians, and is known as the adventure capital of Ecuador. The streets are lined with hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, and tour agents. Although it is very touristy, lots of people love it, more for the activities and surroundings than for the city itself. It's an important hub for outdoor sports and jungle tours.

Getting around is easy, just walk. Nowhere is more than a 15 minute walk from where you start and usually even less. It is relatively flat in the city centre. Also check out the mountain biking section should you wish to explore further afield. There are also plenty of taxis around should you need one. Baños is known as the Gateway to the Amazon, as it is the last city still located in the mountain region before reaching the jungle and other towns that are located in the Amazon River basin.

Baños is located at an elevation of 1,820 metres (5,971 feet) on the northern foothills of the Tungurahua volcano, whose activity has been characterized by frequent powerful ash explosions and lava flows that can be seen from Banos. The city is also a Roman Catholic religious center, as some Catholic believers say that the Virgin Mary appeared nearby a waterfall. Due to this belief, a sculpture of the virgin, called Virgen de Agua Santa, was placed in the city's cathedral.

Along with the town Pillaro, Baños is known as a good starting point for exploring the remote Llanganates National Park and its attractions including Cerro Hermoso. The city itself has a main central park across from the cathedral. Nearby waterfalls include Virgen de Agua Santa, Inés María, Agoyán, El Manto de la Novia, Pailón del Diablo and Machay.

Baños is a popular tourist destination in Ecuador due to its natural environment (it is home to more than 60 waterfalls) and its adventure sports. Locals and visitors alike undertake rafting, kayaking, canyoning, bridge jumping, hiking, biking and horseback riding. Under the Köppen climate classification, Baños has a subtropical highland climate.

La Casa Del Arbol Hailed as the Swing at the End of the World this awesome and cheap ($1pp) activity will have you sitting on a plank of wood as you sail out over the edge of a steep hill. Reachable by a 3 hour hike from Banos. There is a bigger swing called El Vuelo Del Condor. You will be strapped in a metal half-box and overlooking the city. You can go there from La Casa Del Arbol either by a bus or walk. It is very breathtaking and should be done in 5 mins. They charge you around $10 for the swing and another $5 if you want pictures.

Baños is not just well-known for it's adventures, but also for Healing and Health. A newly open Ayurvedic clinic - Bioethika Center for Healing is offering all kinds of natural Ayurvedic treatments including the special Ayurvedic massages, located at Luis A. Martinez and Thomas Haflants, just next to the Libreria Cafe. There are many studios in the centro or hostals, within 50m of each other on the same street. They all cost around $20/hour but are mostly local women without full training. The nicer spa locations around town cost $35/hour.

A lot to see in Banos such as :

La Casa del Arbol
Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Agua Santa Church
Eco Zoologico San Martín
Termas de la Virgen
La Aldea Mágica
Mirador La Virgen
PARQUE AVENTURA SAN MARTIN
Parque Palomino Flores
The Flight of the Condor

Ecuador is one of the most diverse countries in the world though it's comparably tiny. Beside the Galapagos Islands (which is the #1 tourist destination in Ecuador) the country has a lot more to offer, therefore I focussed on La Sierra in this video which is a paradise for landscape lovers and outdoor adventurers.

Another reason to visit the Andean region is that you have the chance to dive into the local culture and get a real feeling of Ecuador. The places to see in Ecuador I focussed on in this short video are the result of my own travels along the center from north to south and are easily doable in 2 weeks time.

Things to do in Ecuador covered in this video:
01) 00:36 - Otavalo market in Otavalo
02) 01:00 - Hike the Cuicocha lake
03) 01:25 - Middle of the World, Mitad del Mundo & Quitsato in Cayambe
04) 01:48 - Quito, capital & UNESCO World Heritage
05) 02:08 - Termas de Papallacta (hot springs)
06) 02:24 - Cayambe Coca National Park
07) 02:45 - Quilotoa & Shalala viewpoint
08) 03:13 - Tren Crucero & Nariz del Diablo (Devil's nose)
09) 03:47 - Inka ruins in Ingapirca
10) 04:04 - Cuenca & it's beautiful old town

We picked up our empty cargo van in November 2020 and built her into our tiny home on wheels over the next year. We finally hit the road in January 2022 alongside our sweet pup, Hopps, with a motto to live with less to experience more. After 7 months of life on the road, new adventures were calling and we decided to put our van in storage and head out on a backpacking journey across the world! Our goal is to explore and really experience different countries and cultures and inspire people to step out of their comfort zone and do what makes them happy. How to Visit Waterfall el Pailón del Diablo near Baños Ecuador

Using public transportation from Baños de Agua Santa to Rio Verde provides the greatest flexibility for just fifty cents each way. You have to choices to access La Cascade el Pailón del Diablo. The more developed entrance is just downstream but the upper access has wonderful views too. Both accesses have suspension bridges for interesting views. The lower access has a cave like access route to get behind the waterfall. Watch the video for more and leave questions in the comments.

Best of Baños, Ecuador | Adventure Travel | Revive My Reality

We really didn't know what to think about this small city nestled in the beautiful Andean mountains. A town named after bathrooms? As soon as we arrived we realized that Baños, Ecuador is a great place with a ton to do, even on a budget! Here is what we will cover in this video:

1) Ruta de las cascadas; Basically, we rented bicycles and rode downhill for 2 or 3 hours stopping to see several beautiful waterfalls along the way.

2) La Casa del Arbol aka The Treehouse. A inexpensive playground for adults, complete with a massive swing on top of a mountain!

3) Hot springs, a great way to relax and unwind after a long day. They are heated by a nearby Volcano.

4) Canyoning was an absolute blast. Rappelling down a raging waterfall sounded easy for some reason, but once we started we realized we were in way over our heads! We had a great time and this was probably the most memorable activity in Baños.

Wonderful Ecuador (Bike Rentals). We originally tried using the bicycles available for rent at our hostel, but honestly they just didn't seem like they would make it the entire length of the trip. We ended up renting from Wonderful Ecuador and were very satisfied with the quality of the equipment and customer service.

Team Adventure (Tour operator) We used this agency for the canyoning pictured in the video. The guide spoke good English and was very supportive throughout the entire process, even the scary parts. He was fun and motivated us to make it the entire way! Look them up while you are in town!

Escape to Ecuador; Our good friend Santiago owns a very high quality tour company that specializes in custom Ecuador tours at VERY reasonable pricing. If you want to visit this beautiful country but are unsure where to start, we highly recommend visiting their website below

Banos, Ecuador Quick Start Travel Guide

You'll find a lot of adventurous things to do in Baños. including trips to the thermal baths that give the town its name — Baños means “baths” in English. These baths get their heat from the activity of Baños friendly neighborhood volcano, Tungurahua.

The town of Baños is a small, basic town in the Ecuador countryside, but you can find comfortable accommodations as well as shops. Baños, Ecuador is known for its local specialty candy called melcocha. Ecuador grows sugarcane in abundance, which locals boil and stretch into a sticky, mouthwatering candy.

See more of the Baños landscape on the swift currents of the Puyo and Pastaza Rivers, either on a whitewater rafting tour or in a traditionally crafted canoe. The Pastaza River flows through Sangay National Park, one of Ecuador’s most remote parks. You can combine all of Baños’ most exciting things to do on a canyoneering tour of the Río Blanco, where you can rappel down a cliff face, following the path of a rushing waterfall. Other parks offer a more straightforward adventure, with a quick zip-line through the trees.

Baños isn’t too far from the Amazon, and you’ll find it has a similar climate, with high humidity, frequent rain showers, and warm temperatures. Most visitors don’t notice the occasional shower, since they’re already soaked from the waterfalls, rivers, and hot springs. Make sure to venture to one of the area’s most breathtaking waterfalls on a hike from Baños to El Pailón del Diablo, or “the Devil’s cauldron,” in English. The 262-foot (80-m) torrent of water spatters the adjoining staircase with mist and noisily churns the water of the plunge pool.
