10 Most Amazing Mayan Ruins - Travel Video

For almost a millennium, the ancient ruins of great architecture lay buried beneath the jungle vegetation on the Yucatan Peninsula. Abandoned by their creators these ancient temples and pyramids are a stunning reminder of a powerful civilization that once ruled the people of Central America. Although the accomplishments of the ancient Mayans are astonishing, no city would escape the inevitable collapse. One by one they were swallowed by the rainforest leaving the amazing Mayan ruins hidden, waiting to be discovered.

10 Best Places to Visit in New Mexico - Travel Video

Check out all the places seen in this video:

It’s no wonder that New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment. Whether exploring ancient ruins, shopping for silver or just enjoying the ever-changing colors of the sky at sunset, New Mexico casts its charm on every visitor. With varied landscapes that range from red rock mesas to snow-capped mountains, New Mexico encapsulates all of the geological features that attract visitors to the American Southwest. No other state, however, has such a unique palette of light-infused colors, which is why so many artists call New Mexico home. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in New Mexico:

LARGEST PYRAMIDS in MEXICO. Aztec Ruins near Mexico City. TEOTIHUACAN by Drone 4k

Mexico is no doubt one of the best travel destinations in the world. The most popular places to visit in Mexico are the beach resorts like Cancun and Tulum, located on the Yucatan peninsula. Mexico is also home to the world's largest pyramid. Many people think that world's largest pyramids are in Egypt, but actually the largest pyramid in the world is located in the town of Cholula close to the city of Puebla. If you are traveling to Mexico City, then you should definitely visit Teotihuacan. Teotihuacan is an ancient city located 40 kilometres northeast of modern-day Mexico City.
Teotihuacan is known today as the site of many of the most architecturally significant Mesoamerican pyramids built in the pre-Columbian Americas. Running down the middle of the site, which was once a flourishing pre-Columbian city, is the Avenue of the Dead. It links the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun, the latter two with panoramic views from their summits. Teotihuacan was the largest city in the pre-Columbian Americas, with a population estimated at 125,000 or more, making it at least the sixth-largest city in the world during its epoch. Nobody really knows who has built these amazing pyramids. The Aztecs came to Teotihuacan a lot later and they were amazed by the size of the pyramids.

It is hard to understand the scale of this city from this aerial drone footage of Teotihuacan. When you walk near the pyramids they look massive. Usually there are lots of tourists visiting the pyramids but I got the chance to fly the drone around Teotihuacan when it was completely empty.

10 Mayan Secret Places That Were Hidden for Centuries

The Mayan civilization is full of secrets. Even experts have been baffled by their highly sophisticated writing system, their knowledge of mathematics and astronomy, and the amazing architectural marvels they managed to create without any modern equipment. Every year, archeologists and researchers use the most advanced technologies to uncover the mysteries hidden behind the walls of temple complexes, buried in the depth of sacred cenotes and caves.

Well, how they managed to create them is a matter of discussion, but let’s not get into that. Instead, let's see at some of these marvelous architectural accomplishments. Tour guides never reveal these secrets of centuries-old ruins to ordinary tourists.

SUMMARY:
- Temple of KuKULkan, was built sometime between the 9th and 12th centuries CE. During the autumn equinox and the vernal equinox, one can see a snake-like shadow crawling on the pyramid's balustrade. It moves upwards in March and downwards in September.
- The Balancanché caves aren't included on the classic tourist route. The name translates to the cave of the sacred jaguar throne. These mesmerizing caves were first discovered by two American archaeologists in 1905 and have since then stirred curiosity.
- Cenote Ik Kil is located in the Yucatán State of Mexico. This place is otherworldly. While the Mayans used this site as a place for performing rituals, today tourists can be seen swimming.
- Nohoch Mul Pyramid is the place you should visit. If you aren’t afraid of heights and can muster the energy to climb its 130 steep steps to the top, you’ll be able to get a remarkable view of the Yucatán.
- Ancient city Tulum is the only Mayan city on the shore of the Caribbean Sea, located 39 feet (12 m) up on the cliffs of the Yucatan peninsula.
- The tallest and the most recognizable structure in Uxmal is also known by other names, like the Pyramid of the Dwarf, Casa el Adivino, and the Pyramid of the Soothsayer.
- Temple of the Inscriptions was built as a tomb for King Pakal, the ruler of Palenque in the 7th century. The inner walls of the temple are inscribed with about 600 hieroglyphs, some of which are yet to be deciphered.
- Located not far from Palenque, the ancient city, Yaxchilan, was one of the most powerful states in the Mayan empire. The city is known for its well-preserved stone ornamentation above the doorways of the main structures known as lintels.
- According to Professor Mary Miller, who specializes in Mayan art, no other artifacts from the Mayan times offer a better glimpse of the society than the Bonampak paintings.
- The Temple of the Great Jaguar was built as a funerary temple, and in the year 1962, archaeologists were finally able to locate the tomb of the ruler who built it. The body of the king was covered with large quantities of jade ornaments.

#Mexico is a culturally rich country in the southern part of the North American continent.

25-30% of Mexico is made up of forest land, this is 1.3% of the world’s total jungle. Mexico is also known for its warm waters, white sands and balmy breezes. Because of that Mexico is one of the most popular beach destinations. This country has the remnants of colonialism and preserves the ancient Aztec culture. The Castillo de Kukulcán, with its nine stepped platforms, is the centerpiece of Chichén Itzá, a Maya city that flourished from around 700 to 900 C.E. Mexico combines its rich heritage and modern urbanization for its tourists. The Holy City of Teotihuacan ???????? Mexico Pre-Hispanic World Heritage Site

The holy city of Teotihuacan ('the place where the gods were created') is situated some 50 km north-east of Mexico City. Built between the 1st and 7th centuries A.D., it is characterized by the vast size of its monuments – in particular, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, laid out on geometric and symbolic principles. As one of the most powerful cultural centres in Mesoamerica, Teotihuacan extended its cultural and artistic influence throughout the region, and even beyond. ( )

AZTEC RUINS National Monument | Exploring a Great Kiva as it Looked Before | New Mexico

New Mexico has no shortage of Ancestral Puebloan structures to explore, but one stands above the rest offering the chance to turn back time and step into a great kiva as would have been used centuries before. This is not to be missed!

Located in northern New Mexico stands Aztec Ruins National Monument. This near millennia-old great house illustrates how the Ancestral Puebloan people lived.

This park may be smaller than other nearby parks, however, Aztec Ruins have something one won't see elsewhere - a reconstructed Great Kiva. Visitors can step inside and down into the shaded kiva and into the past. Whereas other kivas one may see are open round pit-like structures in the ground, this great kiva has plastered and painted walls, with completed ladders and a wooden roof.

Elsewhere one may see T-shaped doors, intact rooms, and original wood. There are several rooms where one must duck very low to enter.

In total, the trail is a half-mile through the grounds.

Travel Guide New Mexico tm Chaco Canyon & Aztec Ruins Bloomfield New Mexico

Aztec Ruins National Monument

Follow ancient passageways to a distant time. Explore West Ruin, a center of ancestral Pueblo society that once housed over 500 masonry rooms. Look up and see original timbers holding up the roof. Search for the fingerprints of ancient workers in the stucco walls. Listen for an echo of ritual drums in the reconstructed Great Kiva. Adventure into the past.

Chaco Canyon
From AD 850 to 1250, Chaco was a hub of ceremony, trade, and administration for the prehistoric Four Corners area--unlike anything before or since. Chaco is remarkable for its multi-storied public buildings, ceremonial buildings, and distinctive architecture. These structures required considerable planning, designing, organizing of labor, and engineering to construct. The Chacoan people combined many elements: pre-planned architectural designs, astronomical alignments, geometry, landscaping, and engineering to create an ancient urban center of spectacular public architecture--one that still awes and inspires us a thousand years later.

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. *I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid.
