Little history on Pinal Airpark: The airfirld was originally built in 1942 to train soldiers for the ongoing war, WWII. Between '42 and '45, over 10,000 soldiers were trained here including over 2,000 Chinese soldiers. Many barracks, still seen today, held these soldiers. After the war was over, the airfield went dormant for a few decades until, similar to Victorville ( and Mojave ( the world needed somewhere to store unneeded aircraft who had been retired. Northwest Airlines was the first airline to store some aircraft here before the TWA 747-100 seen at 7:12 landed here for the last time in October of 1996. Since then, thousands of aircraft have landed here...some leave after long term storage like the the Dream Lifter we saw, whereas some never leave similar to the ANA 742s, NWA 742Fs, the TWA 741, and, due to the pandemic, the SAS A343s. Tucson Hot air balloon ride takes you on an hour long flight over the Sonoran Desert, Tucson Mountains, Saguaro National Park West, and the agricultural expanse of Avra Valley. I am uploading the preparation of the hot balloon for take off, and I have also included some scenes I took while flying. The ride is exciting from start to end where you learn how they pump in hot air into the balloon, fly and get to see an amazing view and the even ends with champagne and a brunch.

DEDICATION
On November 17, 2016 the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U. S. Air Force dedicated a new destination for visitors to the Ironwood Forest National Monument! You will find the new Titan II Missile Interpretive Site just off Johnston Mine Road.
THE SITE
The U.S. Air Force and the BLM partnered in the conversion of Titan Missile Site 570-3 into a historical interpretive site, this site is one of 18 across Arizona. The Titan II Missile sites were located in three places in the U.S. as a deterrent to nuclear war during the cold war period–Arkansas, Kansas and Arizona and they were manned 24/7 for 24 years, from 1963 to 1987. Each site was capable of launching a Titan II Missile in 58 seconds in case of attack on the United States. Green Valley is home to the Titan Missile Museum, a silo preserved in its originality for visitors to enjoy and learn more about this period in history. Now we have another site on the Ironwood.
Directions: North of Tucson Arizona use Exit 242 from I-10 (Avra Valley Road) and travel west approximately 19.5 miles to Johnston Mine Road. Turn left onto Johnston Mine Road. You will find the road to the site in about .2 miles to the right. There is plenty of parking and easily accessible flat walking areas. The views of the Waterman Mountains are great.
