Natural Beauty of Poland in Winter | Augustów Forest | POLAND | পোল্যান্ড | TRAVEL with PAL
Augustów Primeval Forest or Augustów Forest is a large virgin forest complex located in Poland as well as in northern Belarus and southeastern Lithuania. The forest covers about 1,600 sq. km., of which 1,140 sq. km. is in Poland. It is dominated by coniferous trees: pine and spruce, but birch, maple, hornbeam, linden, ash and alder can also be found. There are many tree stands of old trees, some of which are over 120 years old, with trees reaching 30-40 m in height.
The Augustów Forest is rich in mushrooms, berries, wild strawberries and raspberries. The protected plants include: the wolf bark, Turk's cap lily, pasque-flowers, Lycopodium, yew and many others. The Augustów forest is also home to many animals: deer, roe-deer, elk, wild boar, black grouse, fox, beavers, and marten.
Dr. Michał Skierczyński, an avid nature lover, is a Behavioural Ecologist and associated with nature guiding and nature teaching. He is the owner at DZICZENIE.

Augustów; Lithuanian: Augustavas, German: Metenburg, formerly known in English as Augustovo or Augustowo] is a city in north-eastern Poland with 30,802 inhabitants (2011). It lies on the Netta River and the Augustów Canal. It is situated in the Podlaskie Voivodeship (since 1999), having previously been in Suwałki Voivodeship (1975–1998). It is the seat of Augustów County and of Gmina Augustów.
In 1970, Augustów became officially recognized as a health and relaxation resort. In 1973, surrounding settlements were named a part of it, forming a popular resort town.
