MORELIA and TOLUCA in MEXICO. Are they worth a visit?
On our way to Mexico City, we are passing through the city Morelia and Toluca. We arrived in Morelia during a tropical storm, making the city quite gloomy. When the sun came out the next day though, the colonial city really came alive. Not a lot of tourists visit this city, making it quite a nice experience.
Toluca is a huge city very close to CDMX where tourists also dont tend to come. We stayed here for a couple of nights to hike the Nevado de Toluca. Walking around here gives you a great view on how many people live in the cities.

The Mexican City they told us NOT to visit
Despite being located about an hour from CDMX, Toluca isn't a very highly recommended city. That didn't stop us from having an absolute blast though!

In today's Mexico travel vlog, we're in the city of Toluca in the State of Mexico. Why'd we end up here when there are so many more desirable cities close to Mexico City? We're meeting some old friends of ours!
We start off the day at Diego's family's restaurant, Cafe Lusso. Later, @MyTrishAdvisor and Diego are reunited with our husky Laska and we explore the historic center (zocalo) of Toluca. Then, we visit Dulceria Hernandez, a candy store that's over 100 years old! In total Mexico style, we get invited back as we're leaving and get to know the family over some pulque. Finally, we see the highly impressive Cosmovitral, aka the Botanical Garden with the largest stained glass display in the world. This week was a ton of fun!

Las Grutas de la Estrella en el Estado de México | A 10 km de Tonatico y cerca de Ixtapan de la Sal
Si usted desea realizar un inolvidable paseo familiar, a sólo 10 km de Tonatico se localizan las Grutas de la Estrella, en cuyo interior se pueden admirar las diversas formas naturales, de las estalactitas, estalagmitas. Grutas de la Estrella en el Estado de México
Las Grutas de la Estrella una maravilla de la naturaleza, han sido producidas por el escurrimiento del agua a través de las fisuras de la roca, depositando sales minerales y bicarbonato de calcio, que han permitido crear figuras bautizadas por los lugareños como el Mamut, los Novios, la Mano, el Palacio, el Águila, los Candiles, la Cruz, el Perfil de Cante y el Pórtico.
Para ingresar hay que bajar 450 escalones, acondicionados con senderos, escaleras, puentes y un sistema de iluminación que proporcionan una gran comodidad para el visitante.
A un lado de su camino, se observa el río que va descendiendo a lo largo de tres cascadas, son los ríos Chontalcuatlan y San Jerónimo que se juntan, y que deberá cruzar a través de un puente a la entrada de la caverna.
A este tipo de maravillas naturales como las Grutas de la Estrella, los científicos las llaman fenómenos de erosión kárstica, porque crean figuras inimaginables.
No hay pretexto, los visitantes pueden llegar en coche por la carretera a Toluca en dirección a Ixtapan de la Sal, de ahí a cinco minutos se encuentra Tonatico y unos metros más adelante está la desviación a las Grutas de la Estrella.

TORREÓN, COAHUILA, Mexico - Hola! In this Travel Mexico video, we travel from Durango to the neighbouring state of Coahuila, more specifically, to the city of Torreón! They told me not to come here (ie everyone) due to the fact that it's supposedly not the safest city in Mexico and there's nothing to do. Unsurprisingly, 'they' were WRONG!
This video (in 4k) covers some first impressions of Torreón, we eat some amazing street food at a local market (lonches!), and head up the Teleférico to Cerro de las Noas, known for a particular type of cactus common across northern Mexican states and wait for it, the tallest CHRIST statue in NORTH AMERICA!!
If you're thinking about moving to Mexico or becoming one of the increasing number of expats in Mexico, your choices aren't limited to popular areas like Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. Durango/Coahuila are states that, granted, you'll need to be able to speak Spanish in, but the city and state has so much to offer, just as much as those other places!

Walking around Toluca ???????? Mexico
I spent the Day Walking throughout the City of Toluca ???????? Mexico , the one good thing about this city always somewhere to grab food . Other than that Toluca is a nice city to explore , a lot of sights I definitely like all the color buildings and especially the graffiti everywhere caked on the side of buildings. I've been coming to Mexico since 2006 , although Toluca is nice , but it's definitely not my favorite city here in Mexico that would be Progreso down in the Yucatan Peninsula . Progreso is a very boring city laid back right on the Gulf of Mexico , I will get back there eventually.

Hola amigos and welcome back to my 2020 Mexico travel series! This is Part 5 and in this video, we head to the west of Mexico City to Toluca, the 5th largest city in Mexico, one which I cannot believe more people don't visit! We check out some INSANE Mexican food *(comida Mexicana!) by outside the Cosmovitral while doing a mini Mexican food tour, including the insanely bright Chorizo Verde as well as Tacos de Obispo - two dishes very much unique to Toluca! If you enjoy a classic Mexican food hunt, these could be the dishes for you!
As mentioned, we also visit the Cosmovitral - a huge building in the middle of Toluca which used to be the 16th September market until the 70s. It was converted into a botanical garden and is the world's largest example of stained glass - it's truly spectacular!
So, if you're planning a 2020 Mexico trip or vacation (or looking for things to do in Toluca), particularly to Mexico City, consider adding Toluca to your itinerary. Despite some things being closed in Mexico due to Covid-19, I was actually pleasantly surprised that a lot of things were open in Toluca!
