I had no idea what to expect when I decided to visit the least populated county in the United States - Loving County, Texas. It was great! Mentone is the only community in the county and it was very busy. Besides exploring a bunch of old buildings, I got to hang out at The Stop - one of the only places to eat in Mentone. Most of the fields in Loving County are filled with the oil industry, and because of that, it is home to the highest per capita income in all of Texas. I really had fun in this little west Texas county!

Atchison, KS is both a city and the county seat of Atchison County, Kansas.
Atchison is located along the Missouri River. North. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,021.
As the birthplace of aviator Amelia Earhart, there is a museum, an annual festival and other associations with Atchison's most famous citizen.

I hope to illustrate some of the lesser known places that one can camp in the Central Western states. There are many campgrounds and other places which relatively unknown or overlooked which I feel would be of interest to tourists / vacationers and both tent campers and RV'ers.
I found many of these places to camp with Google's camping near _______ search terms. I was amazed how many small towns and state/federal lands allow camping. In addition, Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho publish very complete guides to lesser known campsites. I only listed and filmed the sites which were not USFS or the National Park System. As we traveled, we found quite a few and I made sure to record them on video to share with all of you.
However, one must take care in selecting these sites. Sometimes, it is only a dirt lot with no services and no bathrooms suitable only for self-contained RV units. Others, are down narrow rough roads suitable only for SUV's and trucks. Finally, and most importantly I review and rate how good I thought these campsites are and how suitable it is to tent camping. Sometimes they are true undiscovered gems which are little used or unknown outside the local community.
Kansas Highway K-7 - Atchison to Troy | Drive America's Highways ????
???? Drive America's Highways for 13 miles north along Kansas Higahway K7 from Atchison to just west of Troy in northeastern Kansas. ????️
We start the video driving north on K7 leaving Atchison. Driving north on the Glacial Hills Scenic Byway, we make our way through rolling hills and endless farmland with minimal traffic or fuss. Soon, we reach the intersection with K20 where we continue north.
A few miles later, we end the video as we turn off K7 on a local road towards Troy proper.
