What to know if you go - internet service and cell service are poor in the whole region. Plan on being “unplugged” for most of the time.

Why we love it - the whole Disney experience is top-notch! Lots of things to do and it feels like you are in the woods.

Things to see: rent a golf cart and drive around the campgrounds (or ride bikes) - Disney parks and transportation (ferries, etc).

What to see/where to go: Climb the dunes! Santa Cruz within a 30 min drive, Pismo Beach, the cinnamon rolls from Old West Cinnamon Rolls

Why we love it - The views! Close and easy access to the shuttles (when running) and hiking trails. We walked down to a creek and played in the water.
What to know if you go: Only water and electric sites, and there is a dump station, also it was a tight fit with a 40-foot rig and our Jeep on the site.
What to see/where to go: Hiking, scenic drives - The Narrows is a bucket list item and we are glad to have done that with our family!

Jaycation visits Del Mar Heights and visits the most popular places to eat, shop and visit when in Del Mar. First up is Del Mar Highlands Town Center where we try out Sidecar Doughnuts and Coffee. After we take a stroll around the town center to see what other things there are to do and visit in the area.
One Paseo is a fairly new shopping center with a quaint and high class boutique feel. With many boutique shops, gourmet and healthy restaurants, One Paseo is a great place to shop and dine. San Diego is known for its craft brewing scene and Harland Brewing is one of the hippest and newest breweries in San Diego. We try their Waimea Haze IPA and enjoy a stroll around One Paseo.
For Happy Hour we head to Seasurf Fish Co. in Del Mar Heights where we enjoy $2 fish tacos, $1 shucked oysters and & $6 Poke Nachos! Some of the best seafood in town for a great happy hour deal!
Finally we take a quick walk around Torrey Pines State Beach and visit the Fairmount Grand Del Mar where a popular celebrity once got married!

Exploring California's Highway 39 - Closed For Over 40 Years
California State Route 39 as it heads into the mountains north of Azusa has been called California's Forbidden Highway or California's Forgotten Highway, as the last four and a half miles of it have been closed since 1978, preventing it from connecting with State Route 2. Because of the closure and dead end, the road sees very little traffic, despite being only miles from the second largest city in the United States.
In this video, we drive up the road through the Angeles National Forest (the same road part of Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift was filmed on) and check out what there is to see along the way. We then explore the section of road that has been closed for over 40 years, a road that was once considered one of the most scenic in California.
