Jharni Narasimha is a unique temple of Lord Narasimha situated 300 mtrs deep inside the cave. Here Lord Narasimha killed the rakshasa Jharasura; the latter requested Lord Narasimha to bless him with His shelter. Hence the rakshasa is present in the form of water. Devotees have to walk in the waist deep crystal clear water to have darshan of Lord Narasimha. It is indeed an enthralling experience to visit this temple and be blessed here.

Vellore (formerly known as Rayavelur or Vellaimaanagar) is a Sprawling city and the administrative headquarters of Vellore District in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. 1. Sri Parthasarathy Temple
Built by the Pallavas in the 8th century, Sri Parthasarathy is one of the oldest temples in Chennai, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The structure that we see at present is the result of renovations and upgrades made by the kings of the Vijayanagar Empire in the 16th century. The main highlights of the temple are five icons depicting the forms of Lord Vishnu – Rama, Krishna, Narasimha, Ranganatha, and Gajendra. With elaborate carvings on the towers and pillars, the temple is amongst the 108 sacred centers of Sri Vaishavites, and is swarmed by devotees throughout the year.

2. Government Museum
Established in 1857, the Government Museum is the second oldest museum in India. With sections ranging from Art to Zoology, the museum possesses archaeological and numismatic collections. The main attraction of the museum is the huge collection of Roman antiquities and South Indian bronzes. Built-in Indo-Saracenic style, the National Art Gallery within the museum is another crowd-pleaser, which houses rare works of famous artists including Raja Ravi Varma. 3. Valluvar Kottam
Valluvar Kottam is an architectural marvel that was built to pay tribute to the famous Tamil poet Saint Thiruvalluvar. The monument is a 101-feet high temple chariot standing on a region that was once the deepest point of Nungambakkam Lake. Made of 3000 blocks of stone, the chariot is the replica of the temple chariot in Thiruvarur. A 33-meter tall statue of Saint Thiruvalluvar is installed in the chariot and all the chapters from his famous work, Thirukkural, are depicted in the corridors of the front hall of the chariot. Furthermore, there’s an auditorium that can accommodate approximately 3500 people.

4. Santhome Cathedral Basilica
Also known as San Thomas Cathedral Basilica, this minor basilica is one of the significant religious sites for Christians. Inspired by the Neo-gothic style, the cathedral is a beautiful piece of architecture with large windows and well-lit interiors. It is believed that one of the 12 apostles of the Christ who visited the place was put to death in 72 A.D. Santhome Cathedral Basilica is built on the top of his resting place. The museum in the church has the fingerprint of the apostle, a stone receptacle, and a lace head that was used to kill the apostle.

5. Kapaleeshwarar Temple
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Kapaleeshwarar Temple was built in the 8th century by the Pallavas. However, the structure that we see today was rebuilt in the 16th century by the rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire. Amongst the most beautiful temples in Chennai, the temple exhibits a rich history and culture of the city. There is a 37 meters tall gopuram in the temple, which is inspired by Dravidian architecture. The temple has bronze idols of 63 Nayanars and other beautiful sculptures, so, if you are an art lover, this temple is a must-visit attraction.

6. Marina Beach

Semmozhi Poonga is a botanical garden set up by the Horticulture Department of Government of Tamil Nadu. Attractions like water and rock gardens make this place a popular picnic spot in Chennai.

Tiruvannamalai is one of the most venerated places in Tamil Nadu. In ancient times, the term “Annamalai” meant an inaccessible mountain. The word “Thiru” was prefixed to signify its greatness, and coupled with the two terms, it is called Tiruvannamalai.
The Temple Town of Tiruvannamalai is one of the most ancient heritage sites of India and is a centre of the Saiva religion. The Arunachala hill and its environs have been held in great regard by the Tamils for centuries. The temple is grand in conception and architecture and is rich in tradition, history and festivals. The main Deepam festival attracts devotees from far and wide throughout South India. It has historic places besides Tiruvannamalai, Arni, Vandavasi, Devigapuram connected to East India and French companies. In the late Chola period this district was ruled by the Cholan of Sambuvarayar having Padavedu near Arni as HQ. We can now find the fort and note along with a Shiva temple namely Kailasanathar in Arni town.
Administrative Units
Tiruvannamalai District was created from erstwhile North Arcot District on 30-09-1989. The district is surrounded by Kanchipuram district in the East, Villupuram district in the south, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri Districts in the West and Vellore District in the North as its boundaries. Tiruvannamalai District is divided into 3 Revenue Divisions namely Tiruvannamalai, Arni and Cheyyar and 12 Taluks namely Tiruvannamalai, Kilpennathur, Chengam, Thandarampattu, Kalasapakkam Polur, Arni, Chetput, Cheyyar, Vembakkam, Vandavasi and Jamanamarathur. They are further sub-divided into 18 development blocks, 4 Municipalities and 10 Town Panchayats and 860 Village Panchayats.

Thinai, Samai and Varagu millets, Seetha and Jackfruit are producing in Jawadhu hills. Banana plantation is widely practiced in Padavedu region. Approximately 56 % of people are depended on Agriculture related works.
Industries
Tiruvannamalai district is a backward district in terms of Industrial production. Agricultural based industries like Sugar mills are situated in Polur, Cheyyar and Kozhunthampattu. The Lakshmi Saraswathy Cotton mill is functioning at Sevur near Arni. Cheyyar SIPCOT industrial estate is famous for production of finished leather goods and automobile accessories and provides more employment opportunity for the people in the North eastern part of this district. Apart from these, Granite industries make Black Stones, Colored Stones and soft stones.
Tourism
Tiruvannamalai District is famous for spiritual and religious aspect. The world famous Annamalaiyar temple, Padavedu Renugammbal temple, Thennnagur Pandurangar Temple and Devikapuram Periyanayagi amman temple are some of the main spiritual centers. Sathanur Dam, Jawadhu Hills are the famous tourist places. Tirumalai Jain temple, Mamandur cave temples, Koolamandal and Brammadesam are the heritage sites of this district.
Education
Tiruvannamalai District is divided into 5 educational district viz Tiruvannamalai, Arni, Cheyyar, Chengam and Polur comprising a total of 1798 primary schools, 219 Highschools,160 Higher Secondary School apart from CBSE schools are functioning in the district. Forest Department schools with hostel facilities are running for tribal people in Jawadhu hills.
Health
There are 417 Health Sub Centers and 114 Primary Health Centers and 20 Hospitals and one Government Medical College are funtioning for the service of people under the control of Public Health Department. Five vetinary hospitals and 113 dispensaries are functioning under the control of Animal Husbandry Department.
