Arendal is a Norwegian city and municipality located in the county of Agder.
Arendal is part of the geographical region of Sørlandet. The municipality is bordered in the southwest by Grimstad, in the northwest by Froland, and in the northeast by Tvedestrand municipalities.With a population of about 45 000 people,Arendal is the region's largest town, with roots dating back to the 1500s.At the time it had no formal town status, it was not until 1723 that Arendal was granted a full town charter.For centuries, shipping, shipbuilding, and timber trade, as well as mining and ironworks, were key industries in this region.Frequent interactions with people from other countries put their mark on the local culture and traditions.In terms of tonnage handled, Arendal was the country's largest port in 1880.

Arendal, Norway - City Tour & Drone, 4k
The cozy town of Arendal is one of the southernmost Norwegian towns. There are several resort areas around Arendal, which makes it one of the few Norwegian places suitable for summer beach holidays.
We visited it in December and were glad that life here does not stop even in winter! Small ferries run between the islands, the city is beautifully decorated, and the residents are getting ready to celebrate Christmas!
If you go along the E18 highway, be sure to stop by for a coffee in Arendal, as well as go up to the observation deck and stroll along the cozy promenade!
The city appeared on the world map around the middle of the last millennium. In the 17th century, it officially became a port, and in the 18th century - a trading city. From time immemorial, local residents traded in fishing, trade, forging and smelting metal, worked in mines and shipyards. Many Norwegian ships left the stocks here.
