Traveling to Syria
After trying to do it on my own, gave up and arranged with a travel agency in Damascus to bring me into Syria, take me around certain interest points and then take me back to Beirut.A driver picked me up at my hotel in Beirut and took me to Damascus. The trip is about 4 hrs. long and we made a few stops; exchange money before entering Syria will save you money. Then the visa process at the border.
Right at this point, during the drive was told that Aleppo was being bombed and was not safe to travel there, and since it was part of my itinerary, the driver was “just informing me”
Well, part of my itinerary? I will go anyways, I told him. Once in Damascus, the guy in charge, Ayoub, asked me if I wanted to drop Aleppo due to the bombing, but I didn’t drop it.
