Nikšić ~ Discover Montenegro in colour ™ | CINEMATIC video

Nikšic is located in Nikšic plain, at the foot of mount Trebjesa. It is the center of Nikšic municipality, which is the largest municipality in Montenegro by area. Nikšic is the second largest city in Montenegro, after Podgorica, and is an important industrial, cultural, and educational center.

The first settlement in the area of modern-day Nikšić is thought to be formed in the 4th century, as a Roman military camp. The camp was probably founded on the site of the previous Illyrian tribal settlement.

map of Montenegro

Montenegro (/ˌmɒntɪˈniːɡroʊ, -ˈneɪɡroʊ, -ˈnɛɡroʊ/ (audio speaker iconlisten); Montenegrin: Crna Gora,[a] Црна Гора, lit. 'Black Mountain', pronounced [tsr̩̂ːnaː ɡǒra]; Albanian: Mali i zi) is a country in Southeastern Europe. It is located on the Adriatic Sea and is a part of the Balkans, sharing borders with Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north and west, Kosovo[c] to the east, Albania to the southeast, the Adriatic Sea and Croatia to the southwest, and maritime boundary with Italy. Podgorica, the capital and largest city, covers 10.4% of Montenegro's territory of 13,812 square kilometres (5,333 sq mi), and is home to roughly 30% of its total population of 621,000.

During the Early Medieval period, three principalities were located on the territory of modern-day Montenegro: Duklja, roughly corresponding to the southern half; Travunia, the west; and Rascia proper, the north. The Principality of Zeta emerged in the 14th and 15th centuries. From the late 14th century to the late 18th century, large parts of southern Montenegro were ruled by the Venetian Republic and incorporated into Venetian Albania. The name Montenegro was first used to refer to the country in the late 15th century. After falling under Ottoman rule, Montenegro regained its independence in 1696 under the rule of the House of Petrović-Njegoš, first as a theocracy and later as a secular principality. Montenegro's independence was recognised by the Great Powers at the Congress of Berlin in 1878. In 1910, the country became a kingdom.

After World War I, the kingdom became part of Yugoslavia. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, the republics of Serbia and Montenegro together proclaimed a federation. Following an independence referendum held in May 2006, Montenegro declared its independence and the confederation peacefully dissolved.

Montenegro has an upper middle-income economy and ranks 48th in the Human Development Index. It is a member of the United Nations, NATO, the World Trade Organization, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Council of Europe, and the Central European Free Trade Agreement. Montenegro is also a founding member of the Union for the Mediterranean, and is currently in the process of joining the European Union Montenegro is divided into twenty-four municipalities (opština). This includes 21 District-level Municipalities and 2 Urban Municipalities, with two subdivisions of Podgorica municipality, listed below. Each municipality can contain multiple cities and towns. Historically, the territory of the country was divided into nahije.

National Park Prokletije - Montenegro

The Prokletije mountain rang occupies an area covering eastern Montenegro, northern Albania and western Kosovo. In Montenegro this mountain range is called Prokletije (Cursed Mountains) most probably because of its inaccessibility and rugged features while in Albania it is called Alpe Shqiptare (Albanian Alps). The Montenegrin part of the Prokletije stretches across the municipalities of Plav, Andrijevica and Rozaje.

The mountain range was created by glaciation which left the most notable traces of this type of erosion among mountains in Europe, apart from Alps right here. About ten small glacial lakes in this region bear witness to this history. Some of them are to be found in the area with highest level of precipitation in Europe where even during the summer snow remains on its highest peaks.

In 2009 montenegrin part of Prokletije within municipality Plav, was proclaimed as fifth national park in Montenegro. It covers an area 16.630 hectares and includes two nature reserves: Volusnica and Hridsko lake. Protection zones around the park is 6.252 hectares.

The real richness of flora and fauna, as wel as fantastic views of Prokletije are a real draw for tourist and hikers. The main features of Prokletije which influenced the designation of sites of national importance are typical limestone relief and natural beauty.

Balkan Motorcycle trip Day 8 | Valbone - Andrijevica - Podgorica

8. diena

Brokastojam. Krāmējam močus. Eļļojam ķēdes. Tālumā dzirdam ierūcamies pazīstamus motorus - mūsējie ir nakšņojuši viesu namā kaimiņos. Samājamies un satiekamies viesnīcas pagalmā. Apmainamies ar stāstiem par piedzīvoto. Vakar bijusi grūta, lēna, slapja un ekstrēma diena visiem.

Pārsūtu visiem saimnieces welcome tekstu:
How are you?
I have to tell you, you've chosen one of best destinations for your vacation. Also if you are naturelover. People say 'Durmitor, all the mountains director'. It has 18 lakes, so beautiful landscapes, valleys and its peak (Bobotov kuk) is the highest peak on Balkan. It also has 3 canyons. One of them, Tara canyon, is the biggest in Europe and second one in the world. So, there is a lot of to see and enjoy.

Tiekam cauri. Otrā pusē skaists asfalta līkloču celiņš...

Paragliding in Podgorica full version

Podgorica (Montenegrin: Подгорица, pronounced [pǒdɡoritsa]; lit. area below the little hill) is the capital and largest city of Montenegro.

The city was known as Titograd (Montenegrin and Serbian: Титоград, pronounced [tîtoɡraːd]) between 1946 and 1992—in the period that Montenegro formed, as the Socialist Republic of Montenegro, part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY)—in honour of Marshal Josip Broz Tito.

Podgorica's favourable position at the confluence of the Ribnica and Morača rivers and at the meeting-point of the fertile Zeta Plain and Bjelopavlići Valley has encouraged settlement. The city is close to winter skiing centers in the north and to seaside resorts on the Adriatic Sea. Podgorica is home to approximately 30% of the country's population. It is also the nation's administrative center and its economic, cultural, and educational focus

Dan 6, 1. dio - SH 20 Albania

Ruta:

This part of the trip is amazing. The famous SH20 in Albania is often depicted through a serpentine image similar to Passo dello Stelvio. But she is much more than that. The first 10 km from the border with Montenegro is less interesting, but immediately after that begins a series of beautiful views, mountains, rocks. It passes through the Prokletije National Park. It is interesting that there is only one gas station near Skadar Lake on the entire recorded section. Therefore, it is definitely good to refuel before the trip. If you take into account that there is no gas station in Montenegro before Andrijevica (there is in Plav, but when we were there it was being renovated and it is not likely that it was completed in the 2021 season), it is certainly good to refuel. You can also buy it in Gusinje on the black market at a price of 2.5 Euro / l. Part of the road to Theth National Park is shown, but we leave the sequel for the second part of the video.
