Solo Ride to Maghera Beach along the Wild Atlantic Way in Donegal (S1E41)

Welcome to Éire Rider my name is Ben,

We continue on from Assaranca Falls and we head to Maghera Beach.

Maghera is one of the many beaches of the wild atlantic way and features some breathtaking scenery including some nearby caves.

Assaranca falls video link here and in top right of screen -

The beach extends for 5kms at low tide and the sand is soft. The tide goes out quite far however be warned that when the tide comes in, it comes in quickly. Be aware of tide changes when you visit.

The locations is surrounded by mountains and there are some lovely sand dunes you can explore when you make your way to the beach.

Maghera Beach is not a discovery point however this part of the country is worth exploring with a few locations very close by. An Port is also a great destination to visit along this stretch of coastline which is roughly about 30mins away. The roads in the area are tight and bumpy in places. Plenty of coastal scenery to see as you drive around the area.

One part of Donegal you will have to see for yourself. I have wanted to visit here to see the great falls of Assaranca many months ago and it didn't disappoint.

Among the Highest Sea Cliffs in Ireland is Slieve League (S1E37)

Fáilte and Welcome to Éire Rider my name is Ben,

Today we make it to our destination of Slieve League Cliffs and I am delighted to have finally made it here. This is a culmination of months of planning, exploring the Wild Atlantic way coastline from Mullaghmore to Enniscrone and to finally exploring our next leg of the wild atlantic way trip of Donegal.

Slieve League Cliffs are amongst some of the highest in Europe at approx. 601m high and are the 2nd highest Cliffs in Ireland.

What you will see in this video is the walk from the carpark to the viewing platform, seeing this dramatic coastline from the start to the finish line at the viewing platform. Drone footage includes some of the walk up and Slieve League cliffs.

The location is truly awe inspiring and I would highly recommend a visit to this stunning area. The view along the way is simply impressive with views over Donegal Bay and views of Benbulbin Sligo. Knocknarea can also be seen in this video and if the weather is right (like in this video) it will create a very special day.

Glengesh Pass in West Ireland on my BMW F800GS Adventure (S1E39)

Welcome to Éire Rider my name is Ben,

Today I head to Glengesh Pass in Co. Donegal in my F800GS Adventure. It is by far one of the best passes to travel to see and complete. The approach can be done from either side. I did the Carrick side and the approach to this pass is incredible as you will see in this vehicle. Wide open spaces with vast tracks of land with hills and mountains. A truly remarkable sight.

Glengesh is one of two Glacial valleys that carve the Northern edge of the
Banagh Peninsula.

The 2nd Glacial valley I will see in a future video also very close to Ardara. The pass is called Grannys Pass.

Both passes run parallel to each other when seen on a map.

The length of Glengesh pass is some 15 miles which is fairly long. You will see in this video as I descend the mountains stay fairly viewable until it flattens out.

Here is the google maps waypoint:

Ireland
Facts
Ireland is known for its wide expanses of lush, green fields. In fact, its nickname is the Emerald Isle.
But there are also large areas of rugged, rocky landscape. About 15,000 years ago,
Ireland was completely covered by thick glaciers.
The movement of these giant sheets of ice stripped the soil,
leaving huge tracts of flat, limestone pavement.

NATURE
The Irish have a great affection for nature and rural life.
The country's first coins even featured pictures of animals.
Low levels of development and pollution in Ireland have left most of the nation's open spaces relatively undisturbed.
Did you know that there are no wild snakes in Ireland?
The sea has stopped many animals common on mainland Europe from reaching the island.
There are also only two wild mouse species, one type of lizard, and just three kinds of amphibians.
