Tirunelveli is one of the oldest cities in India located on the banks of Thamirabarani river. Mundundurai Wildlife Sanctuary
Mundanthurai Kalakkad Wildlife Sanctuary was declared as a tiger reserve in 1988. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 817 square kilometers. The sanctuary is located near Ambasamudram at a distance of 20 km from Nellai.
Koothankulam Bird Sanctuary
Kuttankkulam is a small village near Nelliyavaram Nanguneri. Every year, at the end of December, migrating birds abroad abroad go back in June or July. This bird sanctuary is soon to be included in a series of popular water reservoirs. About 35 kinds of birds come here. Birds come here because the village is very quiet and good weather conditions for the ethnicity of birds.
