Amarkantak ...... Narmada River is a famous religious tourist destination full of natural beauty as well as the origin of the Son River and Johila River. Amarkantak, situated in the Maikal hills, is a popular Hindu pilgrimage center in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh. At this place 1065 meters above sea level, only the Vindhya and Satpura hills of central India merge. The Narmada River flows westwards and the Son River in the east direction. The beautiful waterfalls, sacred ponds, high hills and serene environment mesmerize the tourists. Nature lovers and religious people love this place. Amarkantak has been glorified in many mythologies, traditions and legends. It is said that Narmada, the daughter of Lord Shiva, flows from here in the form of Jeevandayini river. There are many temples dedicated to Goddess Narmada, which are considered as the idol of Durga. Amarkantak is also famous for many Ayurvedic plants.
Airways- The nearest airport to Amarkantak is at Jabalpur, which is at a distance of about 245 kilometers.
Rail route - Pendra Road is the nearest railway station to Amarkantak which is about 35 kilometers away. In terms of convenience, Anuppur railway station is much better, which is 72 km from Amarkantak.
By Road: Amarkantak is connected by road to Madhya Pradesh and nearby cities. Regular buses are available from Pendra Road, Bilaspur and Shahdol.

अमरकंटक ...... नर्मदा नदी, सोन नदी और जोहिला नदी के उदगम स्थल होने के साथ साथ प्राकृतिक सुंदरता से भरपूर एक प्रसिद्ध धार्मिक पर्यटक स्थल है। मैकाल की पहाडि़यों में स्थित अमरकंटक मध्य प्रदेश के अनूपपुर जिले का लोकप्रिय हिन्दू तीर्थस्थल है। समुद्र तल से 1065 मीटर ऊंचे इस स्थान पर ही मध्य भारत के विंध्य और सतपुड़ा की पहाडि़यों का मेल होता है। नर्मदा नदी यहां से पश्चिम की तरफ और सोन नदी पूर्व दिशा में बहती है। यहां के खूबसूरत झरने, पवित्र तालाब, ऊंची पहाडि़यों और शांत वातावरण सैलानियों को मंत्रमुग्ध कर देते हैं। प्रकृति प्रेमी और धार्मिक प्रवृत्ति के लोगों को यह स्थान काफी पसंद आता है।
वायु मार्ग- अमरकंटक का निकटतम एयरपोर्ट जबलपुर में है, जो लगभग 245 किलोमीटरकी दूरी पर है।
रेल मार्ग- पेंड्रा रोड अमरकंटक का नजदीकी रेलवे स्टेशन है जो लगभग 35 किलोमीटर दूर है। सुविधा के लिहाज से अनूपपुर रेलवे स्टेशन अधिक बेहतर है जो अमरकंटक से 72 किलोमीटर दूर है।
सड़क मार्ग- अमरकंटक मध्य प्रदेश और निकटवर्ती शहरों से सड़क मार्ग से जुड़ा हुआ है। पेंड्रा रोड, बिलासपुर और शहडोल से यहां के लिए नियमित बसों की व्यवस्था है।

Amarkantak is a pilgrim town and a Nagar Panchayat in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, India. The Amarkantak region is a unique natural heritage area and is the meeting point of the Vindhya and the Satpura Ranges, with the Maikal Hills being the fulcrum. This is where the Narmada River, the Son River and Johila River emerge.
Popular 15th-century Indian mystic and poet Kabir is said to have meditated on Kabir Chabutra, also called the platform of Kabir situated in the town of Amarkantak.
Amarkantak is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India.
Roads running through Rewa, Shahdol, Anuppur, Jabalpur, Katni and Pendra connect it. The nearest railway stations are Anuppur and Pendra Road 43 km via Keonchi and only 28 km via Jwaleshwar. The nearest airport is Dumna Jabalpur (Jabalpur Airport) in the city of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh (240 km) which has daily flight service to Delhi and Mumbai.
Places To Visit In Amarkantak
1. Narmada Kund & Temples
Located in the heart of the ancient town, Narmada Kund is the place of origin of river Narmada, and it is surrounded by 16 pristine stone temples. Few of the main temples in this complex are Narmada Temple, Lord Shiva temple, and Shri Radha Krishna temple. This temple provides eternal peace and calm to the visitors who can delve into the stunning views that exude positivity and good vibes.
Aarti timings: 6 am – 12 pm, 4 pm – 9 pm
2. Ancient Temples Of Kalachuri Period
These ancient temples date back to the 1042 – 1072 AD and are located just behind the Narmadakund towards south. Marvel at the famous architecture that includes the Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple and the Machhendranath Temple. The temples belong to the Kalachuri period and were built by Kalachuri Maharaja Karnadeva.
3. Dudh Dhara Falls
Dush Dhara is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in India, and the second waterfall of Narmada River that gets its name from its colour which is milky white. Dudh is a hindi word that literally translates to milk and the locals compare the colour of the waterfall to milky white. Hence, the name Dush Waterfall. You’ll be mesmerized by the beauty of this pearls dropping and jaw-dropping waterfall that will come as a respite on your trip.
4. Shri Yantra Mandir
This unique temple features an interface of interlocking triangles, snake hoods and a stunning architectural structure rising out of a valley. The whole temple is a geometric representation of the Primal Force, Maha Shakti and it attracts worshippers and well-wishers from across the globe.
5. Kapil Dhara Fall
The Kapildhara waterfall is a major attraction for people travelling to Amarkantak. The holy waters of the Narmada river plunge from a height of about 100 feet and this cascade of waterfall gets its name from the famous sage Kapil, who had resided at this place and performed severe religious austerities.
6. Mrityunjay Ashram
This is a very peaceful ashram where you find some solace away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Find yourself a quaint spot in the ashram and do introspection, spend some time alone that will truly rejuvenate your soul. Take a stroll in the garden and feast your eyes on the lush greenery around you.
7. Kabir Chabutra
One of the most prominent tourist spots in Amarkantak, it’s where the famous saint Kabir resided and spent many years doing meditation amidst the lush surroundings and a serene environment.
By Air: Jabalpur airport is the nearest airport to Amarkantak, located approximately 254 km.
By Rail: Pendra Road is the nearest railhead to Amarkantak, located 17km away from the holy town.
By Road: You can take bus to Jabalpur and Rewa that are well connected to Amarkantak or take State Buses to Amarkantak from Pendra Road.

.In this video I am sharing my first visit of Amarkantak. Yesterday I have hitchhiked and reached Amarkantak from Rantapur. Amarkantak situated at Madhya Pradesh. and Chhattisgarh Border. Amarkantak is Hill Top City of Madhya Pradesh. This place is the origin of river Narmada.This is also the place of origin of Sonbhadra river.It is on the high top of the mountain and the atmosphere here is captivating, pleasing. The panoramic view here is made just by looking at it.This is a very old place from where it is believed that both Narmada River and Son River spent their childhood on these mountains. Both the rivers originate from here, but the directions of both are different. One moves towards east and the other flows towards west.The climate here is very cool and pleasant even in summer. The forests here remain full of backlash throughout the year. It has green climate throughout the year. Being on the top of the Indians, the panoramic view that you will see from here is very pleasing to the mind. There is a wonderful scene.This is a holy land, Tapobhoomi. Here even today many sages and saints will be seen doing it then and once upon a time Kabir also came here and did it then. Nearby is the Kabul Chabutra where Kabirpanthis live even today. Kabir ji did it there then and this land is Tapobhoomi. It is absolutely heaven.
