Tour to Alytus with Jerulita Team guide
Daniel Gurevich, the guide of Jerulita Travel explores the city of Alytus, the 6th large in Lithuania. The city located on the two banks of Nemunas River has a rich a peculiar history. Once it was divided into two parts: one belonged to the Russian Empire while the other one to Prussia. The differences between the two parts can be seen even nowadays.
The history of the Jewish community of Alytus (Alyte in Yiddish) goes back to the 15th century. Most of the Jews lived in the vicinity of the Shul in the so-called “Prussian” part of the city, while the cemetery was across the river on the “Russian” side. By the end of the 19th c, the Jews made up a third of the city's population. The building of the Synagogue renovated recently, is shown in this video episode.
The Jews of Alytus did not escape the sad fate of all the Jews of Lithuania. An extremely impressive monument was erected in forest Vidzgiris at the edge of the city.

Hello everyone and welcome to Kaunas - the second largest city in Lithuania. I'm so exited to make this video because I grew up in Kaunas and want to show you all what the city has to offer.
Some of the famous places are: Kaunas gothic old town and centre, Pažaislis monastery and Kaunas reservoir with a yacht club, old city funiculars, numerous museums and galleries including museum of Lithuania's most famous painter and composer M. K. Čiurlionis, and a quirky Devil's museum. In Kaunas you can also learn a lot about soviet past from its unique shops and cafes still left in the centre, and 9 fort museum which is infamous for its role in the second world war.

Hello everyone and welcome to Klaipėda district, the outskirts of Klaipėda city, but definitely not boring!
I visited this region many times and the footage in this video is actually from a few different trips. One of the days I was really unlucky with the weather, but that didn't stop me from filming ????
There is so much to do in Klaipėda district - from the most popular sights like Olando kepurė (Dutchman's cap), Seaside Regional Park and Karklė, Dreverna resorts, to plenty of water activities, like kite surfing, sailing and more. The historical sights also weren't forgotten - Memel Nord bunker, Priekulė town and more.
Also special thanks to my sister, for some footage and pictures from her stay in Dreverna resort, which she really fell in love with during the summer.

Welcome Mažeikiai district, Lithuania, one of the furthest places to go to from Vilnius. It's worth getting there, as the district has plenty of interesting sights to see: the only in Lithuania Gramophone museum, authentic XIX century pharmacy - museum, the home of the pioneer of Lithuanian aviation, the beautiful Renavas manor house and much more!
Mažeikiai district really impressed me, even though it was so far to drive to. It took me 2 days to see all the sights and I think it would be a great addition to a trip through Samogitia, combined with the nearby Akmenė district or Samogitia capital Telšiai.

I start this season with Prienai district - a place on the crossroads in the south of Lithuania. Situated next to the famous Birštonas resort it shares the same beautiful nature of Nemunas Loops Regional Park which can be explored through the windows of glider planes - popular aviation sport in the region.

Rumsiskes
Rumsiskes is an open-air museum that is a microcosm of Lithuania’s history laid out in a vast collection of buildings and artifacts. Alytus
Alytus is an ancient town that dates back to the 14th century featuring beautiful forest covered hills surrounded by an almost ten-mile-long bend of the Nemunas River. The town is a cultural and natural oasis with a rich yet saddening history. Monuments like the obelisk that was built over a mass burial ground of civilians and war prisoners killed during the horror of World War II tell of a tragic past.
Klaipeda
Klaipeda is the third largest city in Lithuania, offering visitors a unique blend of old-world charm and new-world modernity. This former Prussian capital has maintained much of its German-style architecture with the cobblestone Old Town and one remaining tower of the former redbrick castle. Its rich history is only overshadowed by its importance as Lithuania’s singular port for passenger and cargo ferries as well as massive cruise ships.

Dzūkijos Dvaras Hotel
Alytus  anhören?/i (deutsch, 18. Jahrhundert: Alitten, polnisch Olita) ist eine Stadtgemeinde im südöstlichen Litauen mit rund 50.000 Einwohnern. Sie ist das Zentrum des südöstlichen Landesteils (Dzūkija) und liegt gut 90 km südwestlich der Landeshauptstadt Vilnius an der Memel. Die Stadt liegt rund je 50 km von den Grenzen zu Belarus (EU-Außengrenze) und Polen entfernt. Sie ist auch der Verwaltungssitz der sie umgebenden Rajongemeinde Alytus.
Erstmals wurde der Ort 1377 in einer Chronik des Wigand von Marburg als regionales Zentrum im Schrifttum erwähnt. 1581 wurde dem Ort von Stephan Báthory das Stadtrecht nach Magdeburger Recht verliehen. In der Sowjetzeit wurden einige industrielle Werke gebaut, 1969 das Baumwolle-Kombinat (Alytaus medvilnės kombinatas, später Alytaus tekstilė) mit 6.000 Mitarbeitern (im Jahr 1980) und um 1963 der Kühlschränke-Hersteller Alytaus šaldytuvų gamykla (1972 beschäftigte der Betrieb 1.900 Mitarbeiter). 1989 gab es 12 Mittelschulen (allgemein bildende Schulen mit Abitur).
Alytus ist ein Zentrum der verarbeitenden Industrie. Eines der erfolgreichsten litauischen Unternehmen im produzierenden Gewerbe – der Kühlschrankhersteller Snaigė ('Schneeflocke') – hat seinen Sitz in Alytus. Des Weiteren finden sich hier chemische Industrie und der größte Sekt- und Spirituosenhersteller Alita.
In Alytus gibt es eine Fachhochschule (ehemaliges Polytechnikum). Der nächstgelegene Flughafen ist der Flughafen Kaunas.
In Alytus befindet sich eine HGÜ-Kurzkopplung zur Kopplung des polnischen und des litauischen Stromnetzes. Die von ABB gelieferte Anlage wurde 2015 fertiggestellt und verfügt über eine Übertragungsleistung von 500 MW bei einer Betriebsspannung von ±70 kV.
Das im Stile einer Parkstadt weitläufig in eine Flussschleife der Memel gelegene Alytus bietet keine erwähnenswerten touristischen Sehenswürdigkeiten. In der Umgebung sind der Nationalpark Dzūkija und der Kurort Druskininkai zu nennen.
Die Memel, auch Njemen, (litauisch Nemunas  anhören?/i, belarussisch Нёман Njoman, russisch Неман Neman, polnisch Niemen) ist ein 937 km langer Strom, der von Belarus über Litauen in das Kurische Haff und die Ostsee fließt. In einem Abschnitt markiert sie die litauische Grenze zu Belarus, am Unterlauf die Grenze zur russischen Oblast Kaliningrad
Die Memel entspringt in Belarus auf dem Belarussischen Höhenrücken etwas südwestlich von Minsk.
Von dort fließt sie anfangs in westlicher Richtung nach Hrodna. Danach wendet sie sich in überwiegend nördlicher Richtung nach Litauen, wobei sie den Baltischen Landrücken durchbricht und dann ab Kaunas wieder westlich fließt. Direkt vor Kaunas wird sie für ein Wasserkraftwerk zum Kaunasser Meer aufgestaut. Die Altstadt von Kaunas liegt an der Mündung des größten Nebenflusses Neris. Kurz nach Jurbarkas wird die Memel ab Smalininkai zum Grenzfluss zwischen Litauen und dem Kaliningrader Gebiet. Das Memel-Becken hat eine Größe von 97.928 km².
Die Memel bildet ein Mündungsdelta aus. Nachdem bereits bei Sowjetsk/Tilsit südwestlich ein Mündungsarm (Matrossowka, dt. Gilge, prußisch gilus, gilin, gillis (tief), litauisch Gilgė oder Gilija) abzweigt, markiert der Hauptstrom – ab diesem Punkt im Deutschen Ruß genannt – bis Rusnė den weiteren Grenzverlauf, wo er sich dann erneut mehrfach aufzweigt und das eigentliche, heute als Schutzgebiet ausgewiesene Memeldelta beginnt. Die Atmata (dt. Atmath, prußisch at, von, aus, her, prußisch mat schwenken), der nördlichste Mündungsarm gilt als Hauptstrom und offizielle Wasserstraße, der südlichste Arm, die Skirvytė (dt. Skirwieth oder Skirwiet, prußisch skirti teilen, trennen, scheiden, absondern, kennzeichnen, prußisch wistit, wirbeln) bildet den weiteren Grenzverlauf. Alle Arme münden in das zur Ostsee gehörende Kurische Haff.
An einer Landzunge gegenüber der Mündung der Atmata, auf dem Ventės Ragas, liegt Litauens bedeutendste Vogelwarte.
