Rambihari palace near siliserh lake (Alwar) is a beautiful property done by Mr. Kaushik, the place itself speaks of Rajasthani culture, the architecture, the furniture, the beautiful wall colors all speak about it. The antique lampshades, poster beds, paintings, wooden carved cupboards and sofas actually makes you feel like you are staying at a very royal place with all the modern facilities. We stayed there for 2 days and never felt like leaving.
The place has a beautiful scenic view all around. One can actually see the lake from the balconies there. The sunrise and sunsets are amazing.
The food is the best part of the palace, though they only serve vegetarian but it's mouthwatering. One must try the rajasthani food here - dal baati choorma, gatte ki sabzi, lahsun ki chutney... it's delicious. I still have the taste of it on my tongue. ????
The place is very hygienic and clean. The swimming pool is done beautifully. I would highly recommend a visit to this place.

In today's episode I'm going to take you along with me to the Moosi maharani ki chhatri, city museum and make you taste some of Alwar's best street food.

This is the City Palace of Alwar also known as the Vinay Vilas Mahal built by Raja Bakhtayar Singh in the year 1793.

Alwar’s most artistic monument is the moosi maharani ki chatri. As the legend goes, it is named after the king’s mistress, who performed sati here when he died. After the sati, she came to be accepted as king’s wife.

There are intricate designs that shine brilliantly under sunlight.

Bala Qila, on a hilltop, can also be seen from Bakhtawar Ki Chhattri

There is an artificial lake which was built by Maharaja Vinay Singh in 1815. There are also a number of temples on the banks of the lake. A beautiful garden had been setup known as Purjan Vihar.

Footsteps of Maharaja and Moosi Rani are engraved in the marble and is jagah ki kaafi manyata hai. Kehte hai is mein apne aap hi paani bharta rehta hai and this holy water can be used to fight any skin ailments. A lot of people come here to take a sip of this holy water.

At present the ground floor of the fort is used as government offices while the other floors have been converted into the museum.
Museum Entry Fees is Rs 20 For Indians and, Rs 100 for Foreigners
The palace complex has courtyard, galleries, , and offices.

On display in the museum are some ancient Mughal and Rajput painting dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The museum has a rich collection of some rare and antique Persian, Arabic, Urdu and Sanskrit manuscripts. Amongst these manuscripts, the most prominent ones include Bostan, Waqiat-e-Babri and Gulistan. Other attractions of the museum consist of an array of Indian armory weapons and a copy of Mahabharata, painted by Alwar artists.

Weekend road trip from Delhi to Alwar, Rajasthan covering a distance of around 150 kms. So this place is perfect for a weekend getaway from Delhi to places under 200kms.
The journey took us around 3hrs. The route is from Delhi to Gurgaon towards Jaipur and finally Alwar.
Along the route you'll find plenty of dhabas, restaurants and public conveniences.
