Known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in Miami, Allapattah is a working-class community located northwest of Downtown Miami, west of Wynwood, and approximately five miles from Miami International Airport.
It is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the area, boasting a strong sense of community and a distinct Latin flavor.
In fact, Allapattah was even granted the title Little Santo Domingo because of its prominent Dominican population.
One can even go far to say it's a melting pot of anything and everything Caribbean and Latin America.
A place of culture, rich cuisine, a crafts wonderland, and Miami's next emerging neighborhood-- complete with that famous artsy flair!
It is home to 36,848 residents as of the latest US Census.
Located directly west of the highway, north of Jackson — the metropolitan area is an area that has never been synonymous with the arts, dining, or shopping, despite the numerous transitions the neighborhood has undergone regarding its population and prosperity.
In fact, Allapattah isn't a common area to find in Miami tourists' bucket lists, despite its proximity to the art, entertainment, and culinary districts of Wynwood, Miami Design District, and Midtown.
But of course, like with any Miami-Dade County community, it is STILL a sight to behold, especially for its range of popular restaurants, vibrant arts and crafts scene, and thriving nightlife-- yes, Allapattah's nightlife is on the rise, and we see no signs of stopping!
So, what is there to see in this seemingly serene and culture-rich area?
Aside from an interesting mix of delicious restaurants and its famous contemporary art museum, Rubelle Museum-- home to one of North America's largest world-renowned private collections of contemporary art-- the neighborhood opened a new, walk-through art experience (just last Spring 2021, to be exact), Superblue.
The hip museum immerses visitors in the exhibition through music and visuals in a way you'll have to force yourself not to Instagram or Tik-Tok at every turn.
Allapattah also offers locals and tourists a space to take advantage of Miami's gorgeous weather, the Juan Pablo Duarte Park.
The famous park is one of Allapattah's favorite hangout spots, where large trees and generous swaths of grass offer a peaceful retreat from the city, and a small outdoor gym area and jogging trails provide a scenic place to get in a quick workout.
Juan Pablo Duarte Park also offers a children's playground and splash pad, making the park perfect for families and kid-friendly events, while the fields often host good-natured baseball games that sports fans are sure to enjoy.
Then, there's a delightful mix of thrift shops, quick eats, botanicas, and hipster bars on Northwest 7th Avenue, which are all locally owned and ready to be explored.
It's just impossible to miss!
Allapattah is also a few blocks away from Wynwood, so locals and tourists who can't get enough of the Miami lifestyle can simply go on a leisurely walk to the poppin' neighborhood and continue the sightseeing and partying from there.
Not to mention, Allapattah boasts access to the Metrorail and Metrobus transit systems, so it's easy to move around and even travel around the country or abroad, since it's near Miami International Airport, too!
Is there even a slight possibility to run out of things to do in Allapattah?
With its convenient location and rich culture, many believe that Allapattah is slowly emerging as Miami's next trendy neighborhood, comparable to its neighboring community, Wynwood.
In fact, it is said that investors are buying up Allapattah warehouses to use and renovate as creative spaces, making the neighborhood a hotspot for realtors and investors, a trend expected to continue for the next 10 to 15 years!
So, for all those who bagged a spot in the area before it blew up, there's no way to go but up, ladies and gents!
Its close connections to highways and roads, accessible public transport, affordable housing (for now!), pedestrian-friendly places, and its list of schools to choose from.
It's no wonder Allapattah is a sought-after community, not only by families but also by budding artists and young professionals looking to build their careers!
And the deep sense of community this neighborhood holds?
Well, I don't know if you've ever been to a Latin country and have seen how tight-knit their community can be, but if you haven't, well, Allapattah is all that and a whole lot more!
It's one of the most family-friendly areas in Miami, no doubt!
Indeed, there's plenty to explore and discover in this friendly community.
From food to art and culture to family-friendly activities, Allapattah has something for all its residents and visitors.

A couple of vibrant little towns in the Miami Metropolitan area, Flagami and Coral Terrace, are relatively small residential neighborhoods nestled west of Little Havana and east of Fontainebleau.
Flagami is roughly defined as south and east of Tamiami Canal, north of Tamiami Trail (US 41/South Eighth Street), and west of Red Road (SR 959/SW 57th Avenue), bisected by Flagler Street.
It is also just south of Miami International Airport and Blue Lagoon, a famous water park in Doral Golf Resort. On a map of Miami proper, Flagami is the distinct tail that juts out of the west border of the city. Flagami is home to 44,533 as of the latest US Census.
Coral Terrace is roughly defined as west of Red Road (SR 959/SW 57th Avenue), east of (SR 959/SW 67th Avenue), south of Tamiami Trail (US 41/South Eighth Street), and north of Bird Road (SR 979/SW 40th Street).
Tropical Park is within minutes of Coral Terrace. Many locals love the park because of the tennis, racquetball, and basketball courts, the picnic facilities, the boxing center, and the long winding trails for cyclists, walkers, and runners. Approximately 1,500,000 people visit Tropical Park every year. Coral Terrace is home to 24,376 as of the latest US Census.
The word diverse will probably be the first thing that comes to mind when locals speak about Flagami. For one, the festive town is home to a large percentage of Hispanics, and it's known to have more Cuban ancestry residents than any other neighborhood in Florida, with 71.3% of residents being of Cuban descent.
Its residential market is also a vast mix of moderately priced apartments, duplexes, and single-family homes. But aside from the community's eclectic vibe, there are a couple more things that tourists look forward to whenever they visit Flagami, and shopping, dining, and entertainment are three of its top draws.
For one, the cosmopolitan neighborhood boasts an array of shopping destinations, including the Mall of the Americas (Midway Crossings), Flagler Plaza, and Granada Plaza, among others. The extensive lineup of neighborhood shopping centers allows visitors and locals to shop a storm without needing to travel outside the area.
Flagami is also famous for its rich culinary scene. It offers folks a smorgasbord of eats, from Latin American cuisines and other world-class dining establishments to the neighborhood's hidden gems and quaint takeout spots. But that's not all!
Flagami residents and tourists can easily find jampacked recreational options throughout the neighborhood, including a golf course, a casino, and a fun water park! Magic City Casino is first on the list.
It's a famous Miami entertainment hub that offers exciting, state-of-the-art interactive slots, a smoking hot Poker Room, unparalleled concerts, multiple dining options, pari-mutuels simulcasting, and LIVE Summer Jai-Alai. It was the first Miami casino to bring Las Vegas-style games to the city and is still considered the best casino in town years after its opening!
Another hot tourist attraction in Flagami is the Grapeland Water Park, a perfect oasis for a family outing in Miami. Designed by Miami's famous pop artist Romero Britto, the recreational center offers 13 acres of water slides, lazy rivers, and pools to have fun in the sun.
The water park also features colorful monuments, fountains, an enormous octopus structure, shipwreck-themed water slides, and more!
Meanwhile, golf lovers and enthusiasts can also play rounds of golf at the nearby International Links Melreese Country Club, a 135-acre golf course adjacent to the Miami International Airport.
The famous golfing destination is a few miles inland of Biscayne Bay and is a cornerstone of golf education and training for student-athletes and the community.
Its golf course underwent a $3.9 million renovation in 1997 to include a 12-acre driving range and a golf media center that's large enough to accommodate up to 100 people.
Some notable features of International Links Melreese Country Club include five lakes, nine waste bunkers, 97 sand bunkers, and a Cypress wetland area, landscaped beautifully and designed strategically around the course.
The rolling Northern-style fairway allows for dynamic elevation changes and is also a practical function of the irrigation system, allowing for play in conditions when many other courses are unplayable.
For outdoor leisure, visitors can also have a picnic, take a walk, venture out in a boat on Blue Lagoon at Antonio Maceo Park, or visit other small neighborhood parks within the vicinity.
Flagami is also a centric location within a few miles of Brickell, Wynwood, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and Downtown Miami (30-minute drive tops), so exploring more of Miami will be possible from this point.

Miami is a seaport city on the Atlantic Ocean in south Florida. Miami Lakes in 4K | Miami | Florida | Neighborhood Tour
A community that may seem like something out of a pipe dream exists in Miami Lakes, one of Florida's best-kept secrets.
A famous suburban oasis that lies 16 miles north of Downtown Miami and ten miles from the Miami International Airport, the neighborhood is an incorporated town and former census-designated place in Miami-Dade County.
Miami Lakes encompasses approximately 6.8 square miles.
Its official boundaries are NW 170th Street and the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) to the North; NW 138th Street to the South; NW 57th Avenue (Red Road) to the East; and Interstate 75 to the West.
It is the 31st municipality in the county and one of the youngest, being incorporated only last December 2000.
The neighborhood is home to 32,219 residents as of the latest US Census.
A well-planned Main Street that anchors curvy residential streets, tasteful corporate parks, and green spaces, Miami Lakes is, as the name suggests, an area full of lakes-- 23 to be exact-- giving many homes lakefront views.
But despite its seemingly traditional and serene facade, it is a well-flourished city of its own.
In fact, at least 1,200 additional people are working in approximately 1,700 local businesses located throughout the town, and it is in its own right, a highly sought-after progressive business district.
That said, careful planning, numerous career opportunities, and well-managed growth aren't Miami Lakes' only draw!
Bearing the tagline Growing Beautifully, the town not only boasts natural beauty, a familiar country-like ambiance, and attractive accessibility to major roads, seas, and airports.
It also offers locals and tourists a chance to enjoy the outdoors with parks and tot-lots situated within walking distance of every neighborhood.
Oh, and several choice tourists spots, too!
For one, park-hopping is a big thing around Miami Lakes. Its picturesque parks, 99 to be exact, are enough to keep you busy throughout your weekends, its top ringer, Miami Lakes Optimist Park, leading the list.
The park is considered one of the area's crown jewels, and many previous guests noted that no matter when they visited, it seemed like something was ALWAYS going on in this park!
Well, with four baseball fields and one softball field, two soccer fields, two flag football fields, four outdoor basketball courts, four outdoor tennis courts, 1/4 mile lighted walking path, three picnic pavilions, and three batting cages with lighting, plus a marina for fishing and the Boundless Playground, it's isn't surprising!
It's indeed a perfect destination for family recreation and outdoor fun!
Another epic outdoor sport you can enjoy in Miami Lakes is golf, as the neighborhood boasts THE Shula's Golf Course by the most famous Miami Dolphins coach in history, Don Shula!
Shula's Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship-caliber course located on Miami Lakes Drive in Miami Lakes.
The golf course is part of an upscale resort and is home to the original Shula's Steak House, considered by many food lovers to be the country's best.
Just be sure to reserve your tee time well in advance of your visit, especially if you plan on playing during peak times.
The town is also known to have unique geography, hence its numerous cycling trails.
Outdoor lovers looking to be part of the community while staying fit should give any of these greenways & trails whenever they're here.
Now, if you're more of the shopping type, Miami Lakes offers a perfect social hub for you!
Main Street, a famous destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, is comprised of restaurants, retail shops, apartments, offices, Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, 17 screen Cobb Theater, Main Street Playhouse, and civic facilities, including the Town of Miami Lakes' Government Center.
At this famous spot, you can shop all day, grab a bite to eat, and then catch a movie at CMX Cinemas Miami Lakes 17.
The area is also known to host many cultural events throughout the year.
Miami Lakes is also home to a few water parks and water sports complexes, and holds proximity to several beaches and Miami tourists spots, so boredom shouldn't be a problem whenever you're visiting this neighborhood!

Miami Design District, Bayside Marketplace, Crandon Park | Miami Series
On our first full day in Miami, we decided to take a quick morning stroll around Crandon Park located on Key Biscayne, hit up a tourist favorite, Bayside Marketplace, and then finally end the day exploring Miami Design District.
Crandon Park is a park and a beach located on Key Biscayne right across the Rickenbacker Causeway. It offers a lot of great spots to relax and soak up the sun. Plenty of parking is available.
Bayside Marketplace is an open-air mall located in Downtown Miami. It's a tourist favorite as people could do their shopping here. A Ferris wheel can be found overlooking the pier which offers some great views. If you love to shop, this is a fantastic option.
The Miami Design District houses many high-end luxury brands along with some awesome art galleries, and a farmers market. It's a great place to explore as you'll find many things hidden around the area. Be ready to spend money when you come here!
