O Castelo é da época da fundação de Portugal, pois a fronteira com o Reino de Leão era aqui perto, e havia que defender e povoar o território. Terra produtora de excelentes vinhos de mesa. Apreciei especialmente o almoço no restaurante Tasca, bem português, todo caiado de branco, sem se deixar levar por modas, onde ainda nos dizem ao trazer a comida. se quiser mais diga!

A cidade de Castelo Branco, capital de distrito e um dos maiores concelhos do País, está situada no centro de uma vasta região planáltica entre as bacias dos rios Pônsul e Ocresa. Neste vídeo, passamos um dia conhecendo várias belezas na cidade de Castelo Branco, capital do distrito de Castelo Branco, que é o distrito onde moramos atualmente. Este é o primeiro episódio da nossa série Descobrindo Portugal, onde vamos registrar e mostrar o nosso olhar sobre os descobrimentos que tivermos aqui nesta linda terrinha.

TEXTOS:
O Parque do Barrocal é um lugar muito interessante de se visitar. Inclui diversos mirantes (ou miradouros, como são chamados deste lado do oceano), onde podemos ter lindíssimas vistas da cidade de Castelo Branco e de uma grande área da Beira Baixa. É também um importante sítio arqueológico. Entende-se que a área de Castelo Branco é uma importante rota de circulação desde, pelo menos, a Idade do Bronze e o Barrocal é parte de um conjunto de sítios arqueológicos valiosíssimos da região.
Neste parque também descobrimos que há uma falha geológica coladinha na Beira Baixa capaz de gerar sismos com magnitude superior a 7. Chama-se Falha do Ponsul. Felizmente, apresenta baixíssima atividade sísmica, apresentando apenas uma ocorrência em milhares de anos.

O Jardim do Paço é um lindo jardim, com plantas, flores, tanques, fontes, e esculturas muito curiosas. Temos estátuas dos continentes, dos signos astrológicos, de valores e virtudes, das estações do ano, de Reis de Portugal, além de santos católicos e apóstolos de Cristo.
O jardim foi mandado construir no começo do século 18 pelo bispo da Guarda, D. João de Mendonça e já serviu de residência a vários bispos da Guarda e de Castelo Branco.

Calcula-se que o Castelo de Castelo Branco, também conhecido como Castelo dos Templários, tenha sido construído no século 13 e foi um castelo ibérico estratégico, integrando a linha do Tejo, uma importante linha defensiva do reino de Portugal.
O castelo sofreu com o passar das guerras, dos séculos, com investidas espanholas e napoleônicas, e hoje restam apenas ruínas: pedaços das muralhas e duas torres.
Apesar disso tudo, devido ao posicionamento privilegiado, dá para conferir visuais deslumbrantes da Beira Baixa à partir das torres e muralhas do Castelo.

10 minutes walk from our farm lies the Barragem da Marateca. A 650 hectare lake located on the Ocreza river. We took dog-dog for a swim and flew the Hubsan Zino drone. Hope you enjoy.
