Top 10 Villages of SWITZERLAND – Most beautiful Swiss Towns – Best Places [Full Travel Guide]

Switzerland is a small country full of surprises and wonderful villages. Since decades, Switzerland has been attracting numerous tourists from allover the world. It is the Alps that fascinates most of the visitors but also the very well preserved villages. Although Switzerland is quite small, depending on the region, the villages and towns may look very different. In this video, the 10 most beautiful villages from allover the country will be presented in detail. While there may be a few that you might have heard of, there will be quite some surprises. Gruyères is THE place to experience the medieval vibes in Switzerland. The castle, the museums and furthermore the foodie world of Gruyères are really exciting to experience, do not forget to try fondue, Gruyère cheese and double cream! Zermatt is the most popular village on this list. Visit the many panoramas over the Swiss Alps, see the Matterhorn or simply explore the village of Zermatt itself! Discover the many beautiful traditional wooden houses scattered around this Swiss village! Visit what used to be the smallest municipality of Switzerland: Corippo. Corippo is located in the Valle Verzasca in Ticino. It's a wonderful village full of stone houses and very interesting: ONLY 12 people live in there! Surely, it's not crowded there. Saint-Ursanne is another medieval village; the town that could be in a fairytale. Saint-Ursanne is built along the river doubs and charms with its many medieval houses and wonderful abbey. Guarda - the town of Schellenursli - in the lower Engadin is located in the Rumantsch speaking region of Switzerland. It's far away the urban centres and very quiet. Best to visit during Summer or on Chalandamarz! Grimentz is THE stereotypical village of Switzerland. It's located up in the Swiss Alps and charms with its many traditional wooden houses. The houses are all decorated with red flowers; cheesy and alluring! Lauterbrunnen is another touristy favorite. The village is small but it's located in the Valley of 72 Waterfalls! Enjoy the scenery with its many waterfalls and greens! Do not forget to go up to Wengen and the Jungfraujoch! Epesses is located in Switzerland's wine region at lake Geneva! It's a wonderful village in the middle of the vineyards and definitely offers you enough viewpoints over the wine terraces, lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps. Stein am Rhein is also a very medieval and cultural village. The old town is perfectly preserved and charms with its many painted houses. Spectacular is the No e Wili play that is held on a 10-25 years base. Enjoy swimming in the river Rhine or dining at the Castle Hohenklingen. MORCOTE is the most beautiful Swiss village on this Top 10 list! It's located at Lake Lugano and charms with its appearance of being built at the hill. Stunning is the church Maria del Sasso, the wonder garden in the Parco Scherrer and furthermore the many viewpoints on the hill. Morcote is by the way considered not very touristy. Thus perfect to rank 1st among the Top 10 Villages of Switzerland! WATCH the ENTIRE VIDEO in 4K!

Bergamo - City of the Thousands

Explore Bergamo through this hyperlapse and timelapse short film, a personal project to celebrate my home town in Italy.

40km northeast of Milan, is divided into an old walled core known as Citta' Alta (Upper Town) and the modern city below (Citta' Bassa, Lower Town).

The upper town in encircled by massive Venetian defensive systems that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is also nicknamed The City of the Thousand, because of the large support it gave to The Expedition of the Thousand, a corps of volunteers led by Giuseppe Garibaldi and the main event in the Italian unification.

????GET TO KNOW US BETTER?

We are Patricia and Ed. We have been living on a 46 feet Catamaran and exploring the world on the water! We have always loved to travel and explore new places around the world.

Our first extended trip was a road trip in the US were we got to see over 20 states and ride 30.000 kilometers on our ECO Friendly Van. It was simply awesome and raised our awareness to the fact that we did not have to be tight down to a land home to continue to work and travel. Now, we’re on a sailing exploration journey attempting to circumnavigate the world aboard JOY. Patricia did not have any previous sailing experience, but was willing to learn on the fly.

Now neither of us are too technical and know how to fix things too much, super rich or retired, but we always had big dreams. What motivates us is the possibility to explore and learn along the way, share our experiences here on YouTube, be helped and help others along this Journey.

We want to continue to uncover the meaning of Happiness, Joy and Kindness along the way and hopefully bring something to you that will also make you think of alternative possibilities in life. We hope you enjoy been part of this journey along side us !

MAP OF ITALY !

this is a map of Italy. To the north, Italy borders France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia and is roughly delimited by the Alpine watershed, enclosing the Po Valley and the Venetian Plain. To the south, it consists of the entirety of the Italian Peninsula and the two Mediterranean islands of Sicily and Sardinia (the two biggest islands of the Mediterranean), in addition to many smaller islands. The sovereign states of San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves within Italy, while Campione d'Italia is an Italian exclave in Switzerland.
Including the islands, Italy has a coastline and border of 7,600 kilometres.

Over 35% of the Italian territory is mountainous. The Apennine Mountains form the peninsula's backbone, and the Alps form most of its northern boundary, where Italy's highest point is located on Mont Blanc. Other worldwide-known mountains in Italy include the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Gran Paradiso in the West Alps, and Bernina, Stelvio and Dolomites along the eastern side.

The Po, Italy's longest river, flows from the Alps on the western border with France and crosses the Padan plain on its way to the Adriatic Sea. The Po Valley is the largest plain in Italy, with 46,000 km2 , and it represents over 70% of the total plain area in the country.

Many elements of the Italian territory are of volcanic origin. Most of the small islands and archipelagos in the south, like Capraia, Ponza, Ischia, Eolie, Ustica and Pantelleria are volcanic islands. There are also active volcanoes: Mount Etna in Sicily (the largest active volcano in Europe), Vulcano, Stromboli, and Vesuvius.

Places to see in ( Bergamo - Italy ) Piazza Vecchia

Places to see in ( Bergamo - Italy ) Piazza Vecchia

represents the core of the Upper Town: it has been the heart of political power for the ages and it is one of the most popular places for Bergamo. Restaurants and cafes, having a drink, breakfast or even a romantic dinner. You can admire the building called Palazzo della Ragione, the oldest municipal seat in Lombardy, as well as the Civic Tower, a bell tower also called Campanone.

In the middle of the square is located the Contarini Fountain, which was donated to the city by the chief magistrate Alvise Contarini in 1780, while on the opposite side of Piazza Vecchia you can see the Palazzo Nuovo (New Palace), which served as Bergamo's Town Hall until 1873 and is now the seat of the Angelo Mai Library. Its incredible collection includes ancient and precious books: incunabula, books from the 1500s, engravings, manuscripts and other inestimable artfacts making it one of the most outstanding libraries in Italy. The geometrical layout of the buildings around the square is so harmonic that when Le Corbusier visited Bergamo he said you can not move a single stone, it would be a crime

Piazza Vecchia is a lovely and unexpected opening amidst the alleys and narrow streets leading to it, as well as a perfect place to admire the beauty of Città Alta. The square was originally delimited by today's Piazza Duomo and then became the center of the medieval town, where the iron bars were fixed on the side of the Santa Maria Maggiore Church show. These bars are called measures (measures) and date back to the Middle Age, when the fragmented jurisdiction led to different measurement systems. Every city used to create its own units of measures for weights, volumes and lengths, so they were exhibited in public places (usually where the market took place).

The bars on Santa Maria Maggiore Piazza della Ragione, at the end of 1100, separating the present from the Duomo's square behind it. The private houses were demolished starting from the fourteenth century. Once the square reached the size, the most significant change took place during the end of Venice, when the beautiful Contarini fountain was built. It was put in the middle of the square both for aesthetic and practical reasons (you can still quench your thirst drinking from one of its sphinxes' mouths); in the late 19th Century it was replaced with a statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi, but was eventually put back to its original place in 1922.

( Bergamo - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Bergamo . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Bergamo - Italy

Cecina and Marina di Cecina
Cecina is one of the main towns in the province of Livorno. Located in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, the city is located in the terminal part of the Val di Cecina, near the mouth of the river Cecina with the same name. The town of Cecina is located just over two kilometers from the sea, while its hamlet of Cecina Mare, better known as Marina di Cecina, is located directly along the coast. By now they are practically attached between the two locations because over the years a district has developed along the avenue that connects them.

Those who spend their holidays in Cecina do it to take advantage of its long sandy beaches and its beautiful sea. Every year Marina di Cecina obtains the recognition of the Blue Flag as a testimony of the quality of its sea and its beaches.

History
The area where the town of Cecina stands has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The name of the city probably derives from that of a powerful Etruscan family, the Kaikna of Volterra who in Roman times was known as Caecina. During the Roman period, the consul Albino Cecina had a villa built here, the remains of which are located in the locality of San Vincenzino. Unfortunately, during the imperial era Cecina underwent a decline which was accentuated with the barbarian invasions. With the exception of the Lombard period, this area remained essentially abandoned for many centuries.

To find a revival it is necessary to go as far as 1590 when the Grand Duke of Tuscany Ferdinando I had a palace built, the Fitto di Cecina, as the seat for the administration of the Grand Ducal lands. In that period a bridge and a mill were also built but in 1631, the plague decimated the population causing a new depopulation. In 1738 the Marquis Carlo Ginori built a villa here and subsequently the La Cinquantina working lodge was also built, which served as a base for the laborers engaged in the cultivation of wheat.

The real turning point for Cecina came with the nineteenth-century reclamation carried out by the Lorraine Grand Dukes. In that period the large pine forests that separate the coast from the hinterland were also created. In the nineteenth century the inhabited center began to develop and in 1863 the railway also arrived. Cecina became an autonomous municipality in 1906. Initially it was part of the province of Pisa but in 1925 it was merged with that of Livorno. We arrive at 1944, when the city was the scene of the Battle of Cecina, which ended with the victory of the allies over the Nazis and with the consequent liberation of the city.
