Albergaria Cumeada Portugal
Vacation Travel in 2018 - Part 5
Cumeada (often known as Sant'Ana) is an old Portuguese parish in the municipality of Sertã, with an area of 23.10 km² and 503 inhabitants (2011). Its population density was 21.8 inhab / km².
It was extinct and added to the parish of Marmeleiro, creating the Union of the parishes of Cumeada and Marmeleiro.
Little is known about the settlement of the Cumeada parish. However, it is known that the area that currently corresponds to its territory has always belonged to the end of the Sertã, which was owned by the Templars until 1174, the date when D. Afonso Henriques handed it over to the Order of the Hospital.
The name of this parish comes from its orographic situation - which is rude and at the same time attractive - as it is located on a small plateau, surrounded by peaks of the most varied altitudes
Much of the land in the parish of Cumeada belonged to the Order of Malta and, in 1803, many residents of Cardiga, one of the parish's places, paid fees to the Grand Prior of Crato, as can be concluded from a presentation made in the same year, in which they asked for their forgiveness for being in misery, motivated by a great thunderstorm that destroyed fruits and properties.
The historical notes known about the parish were taken from a Letter by D. João VI, dated 1806, in which the king ordered the demarcation of the parish of Sant'Ana, which according to some historians, when it was established, there was already a chapel in his veneration.

There is a secret place,
- in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
A lush volcanic rock,
- that few people know about.
It's called Madeira,
- but is it really a secret?
Well, as you can see there is an airport here,
- but there are no airplanes!
That's of course not true.
Madeira has been a popular travel destination for many years,
- but it's still widely undiscovered compared to the Canary Islands,
- Crete and Mallorca, Madeira barely exists.
And that's why we made this video.
We think this is Europe's best island,
- and the last secret paradise!

And that's also why we live here.

- that makes Madeira a true bucket list destination.

For getting around Madeira we suggest you rent a car or scooter,
- but since you most certainly will fall in love with the delicious poncha,
- you can also hire a driver.

We made it to the garden of Monte Palace, guys,
- and usually people will come by the cable cars that go from the city center of Funchal.
This place is a magical fairy tale world with so much history that you must visit.
In wintertime you can literally go from snow on the mountain top to tropical ocean life.
On our way to the old town we bumped into the Tobaggan sleds.
This is such a cool experience and definitely worth doing.
It might come as a surprise that Funchal has this authentic pure European charm.

Number one is to go for a Madeira wine tasting at Blandy's.
Go have a poncha at our favorite place.
And also walk the Piornais levada,
As you will fall in love with the old town,
