Goliat the Finnish Lapphund was travelling to Finland this summer! First time that far from home!
My (Tom) girlfriend Anne is from Finland, so we decided to visit her family. This was the first time we had opportunity to do so (because of the pandemi). We made a roadtrip out of it and this is a summary of a week in the country with all the lakes!
We were mainly in Southern Ostrobothnia, and more specific in Alavus and Kuortane.
Our travelling route was Trondheim - Åre - Östersund - Umeå - Vaasa - Lapua - Kuortane - Alavus.

Finland Walks: Lahti City Summer Walk 2022
(4K) Wednesday evening (19.00) walk in Lahti, Finland. The walk starts in Teivaan harbor, goes through the city center and ends at the Railway Station. Lahti is the capital of Päijät-Häme region and it's located on a bay at the southern end of lake Vesijärvi about one hour drive from Helsinki. Päijät-Häme is growing region and currently there are approx. 120 000 inhabitants living in Lahti City.
In English, the Finnish word Lahti literally means bay. Lahti is also dubbed the Chicago of Finland due to the early industries of both cities, when they were known as slaughterhouse cities. Also, the troubled history of both cities in the field of crime has been seen as one of the similarities.
Lahti is a long-time pioneering city in environmental sustainability, dating back to as early as 1990 and before. The European Commission has named Lahti as the European Green Capital of 2021.
