Exploring Hernani Eastern Samar // We found this AMAZING COVE

Hernani is a fifth class municipality in the province of Eastern Samar, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 8,573 people.

It was formerly called Nag-as, after the name of the river flowing southeast of the town center.

---- CANHUGAS NATURE PARK -----

If you’ve been to several white sand beaches and you find the unruffled waters tedious and boring, perhaps the big waves at Canhugas Nature Park will fascinate you with its perfect locale!
Now, let’s take a peek of this incredible local spot!

Location: Hernani, Eastern Samar (More or less 3 hours from Tacloban City)

An impressive spectacle! Gigantic waves crushing onto large rock formations mark this place as an extraordinary tourist destination.

Climbing up the walls of these hefty rocks will give you a phenomenal setting, a beautiful backdrop.

Don’t forget to bring your HD cameras as photography could be one of great deals here!

Fresh from the sea! Just in every rock formation is a natural-made pool. Water comes from the strong ocean waves hammering the rocks, flowing to the pool terraces.

Salty blue falls! Sturdy waves create waterfalls which flow into a deep hole where waves also came crushing through, crafting a view of natural features that is ‘bluish-ly exquisite.’

---- GUINDUYANAN COVE ----
Ginduyanan Cove is a newly discovered paradise right after Canhugas Nature Park which is both located in Hernani, Eastern Samar.

Visited The Farm at Guinciaman, San Miguel, Leyte last June 9-10, 2023. The place is a 1-hour drive away from Tacloban and it did not disappoint.

It is a nice and quiet place for a retreat from the busy life if you are based in Tacloban City and also a great venue for weddings or other events. They serve good food and drinks. The rooms were also nice and clean, the room rates was a bit high as the normal room rates in Leyte but still worth it. The ATV adventures was also a positive addition to the things to do in The Farm.

I suggest to visit on a weekday to steer away from crowds on a weekend.

Overall rating: 4.5/5

Welcome to Burauen, Leyte 2023 | Ground and Aerial Views???? | Town Proper Tour

The name Burauen evolved from the word “burabod” which is means spring. The name attributed to the town which can
be explained naturally because of the abundance of springs and several rivers. Burauen is the fountainhead of two big rivers – the Daguitan and Marabong Rivers and other smaller ones, the Guinarona, Malitobg and Hibuga Rivers that pass through several neighbouring towns. There was a time that a drought dried up several water tributaries and forced the community to flock to a place called “Buraburon,” wherein a large and sustainable spring was located and the town people got their needs. During the course of the years, the name “Buraburon” (means abundance of springs) underwent transmutation of the word “Burawon” and finally to “Burauen.”

Here's why SAMBAWAN is the best island to visit in the PHILIPPINES

The reopening of the famous Sambawan Island to tourists will revitalize this town’s local economy disrupted by the current health crisis, the local government here said.

Mayor Joseph Caingcoy said their desire to help local businesses compelled them to reopen the uninhabited island to visitors from the Eastern Visayas region starting April 24.

“Maripipi is a 5th class municipality and the poorest among the eight towns in Biliran province. Revitalizing the local economic enterprise will help us create more revenue-generating businesses and jobs,” Caingcoy said in an interview Sunday.

The local government unit is now managing Sambawan Island after it terminated the contract with a private developer, citing management issues.

The town only received 12 percent of the income generated by the developer from tourism activities.

“We are planning to invest in more development by building cottages, benches, and canteen(s). We have a budget, but it is not enough for now,” he added.

Providing a 24-hour power supply on the island and constructing a water reservoir are among the immediate plans for more convenience for tourists.

Currently, the local government only allows day tours on the island since there is now power and water supply on the island.

“We're hoping that the provincial government and the Department of Tourism can help us to have access to funds for this project,” Caingcoy said.

Earlier, the local government created the Sambawan Management Tourism Committee tasked to oversee and monitor the island’s operation.

The local government only allows 175 daily visitors, giving priority to those who make reservations.

Tourists may visit the Maripipi Tourism, Culture, and Arts Facebook page or contact 0917-115-7949 for reservations.

Part of the requirement is to apply for the Biliran quick response (QR) code, which takes about three days to process after submitting the online registration form.

Tourists from Samar who are even closer to Sambawan Island will have to go to the Biliran border checkpoint located after the Biliran bridge for the QR code check and fill up a form at the tourist assistance booth.

After filling up the form, tourists will be asked to proceed to the port in Kawayan town where motorboats bound for Maripipi await them for a 45-minute sea trip.

At the Maripipi municipal tourism office, visitors will register and pay the PHP100 fee before heading to the picturesque island through a 20-minute boat ride.

Sambawan, an island with a semi-curved beach and declared a marine sanctuary, is known for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, camping, and trekking.

At the island’s highest peak, there is a watchtower to give the tourists a view of the entire island.

The island is located five kilometers from the west coast of Maripipi town and south of the Samar Sea. It has soaring rock formations covered with green grass as a backdrop.
