The ancient Greeks knew Jordan’s capital, Amman, as Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. Overlooking Amman is the Citadel, the city’s ancient core. Rising over the Citadel are the remaining pillars of the Temple of Hercules, a Roman temple that in its day dwarfed many in Ancient Rome.
From Amman, #journey north to Jerash, home to one of the largest concentrations of Roman ruins outside Italy. Then, continue north to Ajloun Castle, built to halt the Crusader armies as they rode down Jordan’s northern valley, hell-bent on Jerusalem.
Enter the gravel plains of the Eastern Desert and follow the Desert Castle Loop. For many, the highlight here is Qasr al-Azraq, where Lawrence of Arabia made his winter headquarters.
Travel south to Madaba, famed for the Madaba Map, one of the earliest depictions of the Holy Lands. Continue south along the Kings Highway, which once took Arabs to Mecca, and Israelites to the Promised Land.
Follow the hairpin road 1300 feet below sea level to the Dead Sea. Float in the saline waters and cover yourself in the same mineral-rich muds Cleopatra once enjoyed.
No visit to Jordan is complete without a visit to Petra. Emerge from the shadows of the Siq and gaze up at the Treasury, the greatest of all of Petra’s 500 tombs. Then continue south to explore the emptiness of Wadi Rum.

On Egypt’s African coast is the El Quseir el Qadim Marine Reserve. The former harbour of an ancient city, it contains one of the richest coral reefs in the Red Sea.Since 1995 it has provided eco tourists with the possibility to dive on a natural coral reef. Unlike other regions in the Red Sea, the reef has so far escaped the damage that diving tourism usually brings and today provides a habitat for a large variety of rare species. Particularly in the evening, large shoals of coral fish leave their hiding places and take advantage of the last rays of sunlight to forage for food as the twilight offers them protection. Just before sunset, the light in the caves and crevices of the reef is ideal for taking photographs. Diving in this underwater maze is permitted only with a local guide. Yellow Fin Tuna hunt in the deep water off the outer edge of the reef and as quickly as they appear, they disappear again into the blue. For the study of fluorescence as well as ecological tourism, this is the ideal place to be. As a strictly-controlled conservation area, El Quseir el Qadim Bay should have a secure future.

Scuba Dive through wonderful coral reef at Bet Goha & Shaab Rahma | Trip to El Quseir, Egypt 2020
Beit Goha is a dive site 20 kilometers north of El Qusier on the red sea in Egypt. The Depth is 10-30 meters. Beit Goha offers exquisite coral patches, elaborate canyons and tunnels, spectacular hard and soft coral growth, Pinnacles liked melted candle wax and a great variety of reef fish. The Aquatic Panorama includes Acropora, Table coral, Guitar shark, Crocodilefish, Two-barred goatfish, Dusky surgeonfish, Largescale triggerfish.

Location: 20km (12.5 miles) north of El Quseir, just beyond the coast guard station and abandoned village
Access: By jeep or mini bus from El Quseir, then shore entry from reeftop
Average Depth: 10m (33ft)
Maximum Depth: 30m (100ft)
Average Visibility: 15m (50ft)
This labyrinthine coral garden is named after an Egyptian cartoon character renowned for complete confusion. Even the guides get lost here! To both the north and south of the entrance, exquisite coral patches alternate with sand and elaborate canyons and tunnels. The site is generally very shallow, averaging 10m (33ft) but depths of over 30m (100ft) can be reached on the outer side of the reef.
This site is truly phenomenal for growth and diversity of coral. The mixture, distribution and condition of both hard and soft species is excellent, with big bommies, beautiful tables, huge massive forms like melted candle wax, extensive soft coral patches, and branching Acropora. Thousands of small carpet anemones litter the bottom.
The extensive coral habitat hosts the expected bounty of reef fish and schooling species, such as unicorns and snappers, while the sand patches are home to bottom-dwellers such as guitar sharks, reef whitetip sharks, bluespotted stingrays and crocodilefish. There are a great many varieties of surgeonfish here, plus grouper, trumpetfish, goatfish and triggers.
The entry/exit canyon at least is clearly marked by a line of makeshift buoys made form baraka mineral water bottles filled with air and tied to the reef.
