AMAZING Al Bahah, Saudi Arabia: Ancient Mountain Village, Mega Zipline & Fireworks
In this video of Living the Jo life, we visit the Al Bahah region of Saudi Arabia on the 92nd Saudi National Day. It is a mountainous region with its capital, Al Bahah, located at approximately 2300 m above sea level. Al Bahah is 4.5 hrs drive from Jeddah. Our first stop was Raghdan Forest Park, which is located a few kilometers from the town center. The park is full of activities, including a 1 km long zipline, which we had to try out. After a quick check-in at our hotel, we went for a drive along the scenic King Fahd Road down to Thee Al Ain Historic Village. The historic village consists of 49 buildings dating back around 400 years. The picture-perfect setting of the village includes a lush green oasis at the bottom of the hill and a beautiful mountain backdrop. It is possible to walk into many of the historic buildings to explore their up to four storeys. After dinner, we walked up to Prince Hassam Park, which was full of people, food stalls and entertainment such singing, dancing and music. Prince Hassam Park provided a great vantage point for viewing the amazing display of fireworks in celebration of the Saudi National Day. We had a fantastic time in Al Bahah, and we can highly recommend a visit to this beautiful part of Saudi Arabia.

Jabal Shada:
Dates beyond the Cambrian Period, Jabal Shada or the Shada Mountain formation, are some of the highest peaks in the Kingdom at 2,300 meters.
“Shada” means to “rise” or “soar”, so it is a meaning that fits the dense green mountains perfectly.
The giant granite rocks resting on the very top are what makes this place different from others. In Arabic they are given the name “Nadba,” almost appearing to touch the sky at an altitude of 200 meters.
Visitors may come across peculiar grottos and caves that are the result of erosion that has taken place over the course of centuries.
These caves were created by gases exiting igneous rocks and leaving apertures that coincidentally suited human civilizations and were used as dwellings.
Engravings and traces of early civilizations have been found in the caves, giving archaeologists and researchers important and priceless information about the past.
Houses of Jabal Shada Al-Asfal are found at astounding altitudes. They are made of rocks that are extremely difficult to reach due to their location, and are a true piece of Saudi heritage and give valuable insight into the history of the land.
Shada Mountain has been given the status of Natural Reserve by the Saudi Wildlife Authority. The reserve is known for the largest variety of flora in the region. There are approximately 500 plant species reported in this reserve. The Arabian leopard, one of the endangered species, is inhabiting this reserve. There are other species in this reserve including Arabian wolf, caracal, rock fox, striped hyaena and genet.

We went spent the day exploring some of the BEAUTIFUL outdoor spots around Al Baha. From forest parks to ancient villages, we soaked in all the amazing views we could. You might think that Saudi Arabia is all deserts, but Al Baha proves that's anything but true.
In Al Baha we visited, Raghadan Forest Park, hiked in Al Khulb Park, and explored the Al Atawilah/Algehad and Bani Mouhamad Villages.
On our way to Al Baha, we kicked off our Road Trip with a visit to Thee Ain Village and Jabal Shada.

Abha is the capital city of Aseer Province near the Red Sea in southwest Saudi Arabia. It’s known for the craggy mountains of Aseer National Park, which is home to birds, dense juniper forests, and the towering Jabal Soodah peak. Raghdan park is a natural wild forest that was developed by the municipality of Al Baha region for the summer visitors. On arrival at Raghadan Forest Park in Al-Baha region visitors are often taken aback by its breathtaking green landscape. The forest is located on a rocky slope 1,700 meters above sea level overlooking Tihamah and is known for its tranquility and natural beauty.
The Zip Line ride, or the free-sliding-down ride, using stainless steel cable in the Raghdan park is one of the most challenging and entertaining adventures in Al-Baha region.The riders wear special clothes to enjoy the thrilling ride and adhere to secure fitting and the highest international safety standards. Ragadhan forest park, one of the largest parks in Al baha, is a must visit place in Al baha. Spanning over an area of 6,00000 sq mtrs, Raghadan forest park is filled with juniper trees, adventure sports, children play area and even the site for the famous Sunday market of Al baha. This forest park was blanketed by snow on our visit during winter and it was an amazing experience.
