Ep - 15 Sawantwadi to Amboli | Sindhudurg District | Amboli Waterfalls | Maharashtra Tourism
This is the 2nd last episode of our Konkan, Coastal Maharashtra series. Sawantwadi is popular for wooden toys and Moti lake, which is in heart of the city.
We started Konkan tour on 17th Sept and reached Goa on 2nd October, This particular episode was shot on 1st October.
Though Sawantwad is not part of Coastal Maharashtra but we still went there because we wanted to explore Sawantwadi in Sindhudurg district.
In this episode you will also see that we went to Amboli, which is part of Western Ghat, many people visit Amboli waterfall, we also visited that fall.
Following are the activities we did during this day as part of our journey of 1st October 2021.
Hotel - We stayed at Hotel Mango in Sawantwadi.
Chandu Bhawan -Breakfast Rs 50 for Poori Bhaji & Malpua - Rs 20 per pc.
Rajwada/Sawantwadi Palace - 5 min walking distance from Sawantwadi market.
Moti lake - Just Opposite to Rajwada.
Mango cocktail at a shop opp. Crawford market - Rs 90 per glass.
There are 10 to 15 Wooden toy shops, which are in Sawantwadi market.
Lunch at Malwani days - Fish Thali - Rs 380
Sweet Chanak fry - Rs 320 per piece.
Banana slice - Rs 120,
Dhondus - Rs 30
Amboli Waterfall - Quite popular waterfall.
Aranaya amboli - Rs 2000 double occupancy, only bsnl sim works here. 5 km from Amboli waterfall.

RAMTIRTH - CHITRI:
After completing Goa, we decided to go to Kolhapur for a day. There we explored Ajara's Ramtirth Waterfall (रामतीर्थ धबधबा) and temple in Kolhapur. The Ramtirth is the holy temple of Lord Rama & Shiva. It is said that during the Vanvaas (exile in the forest.), Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman stayed at this particular place. In other words, this is one of the places visited by Lord Rama during the exile or Vanvaas.
How interesting this is? ????
The beauty of this place is totally unmatched. The location looks amazing from the drone. We took drone shots stayed while and enjoyed the beauty of Ramtirth waterfall.
The Ramtirth waterfall is situated on the banks of the Hiranyakeshi river nearly 10 km from Ajara. The best time to visit this place is after the monsoon that is from Aug to Nov. This is the time when you can witness the waterfall. After this, there is little or still water only.
We stayed in Gadhinglaj for a day and explored Ajara market and nearby places. The vibe of the location was just beautiful. We were almost in the middle of the crop fields and felt like we are living a village life, which I miss a lot.

Nangar Tas Waterfall - Monsoon seasonal Waterfall near Amboli Ghat, Maharashtra
Nangar Tas Waterfall near Amboli Ghat in Maharashtra - part of the UNESCO World Heritage Western Ghats. It is about 10 km from Amboli Ghat. During & post monsoon this ghat section has several beautiful seasonal waterfalls including the more famous Amboli Ghat waterfalls. Nangar Tas waterfall is also nearby and several tourists head for this roaring waterfall. Here the waterfalls into a deep rocky mountain and is the place to visit in Maharashtra.
But what is worth noting here is the sharp narrow gauge that the water falls into. You can see how the water has made its way through the giant laterite rock. There is a small temple before the entrance that leads to the platform to view the waterfall. With a huge bunch of bells hanging in front of an idol. I am sure there is a story out there but today was the day for the waterfall. We went on the platform to have a look at the river that becomes a fall. We went to another bridge-like structure that stands on the narrow valley created by the strength of the water. I am sure I have never seen anything like this anywhere.
