???????? LOS MOCHIS, Sinaloa | NOT What You'd EXPECT from MEXICO! | Northern Mexico TRAVEL 2022

???????? LOS MOCHIS, Sinaloa - Welcome to Part 11 of my 2022 Northern Mexico Travel series! After jumping on the Chepe Express train from Creel, Chihuahua, after spending four weeks in the state in cities like Ciudad Juárez and Parral, I’m now BACK in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, after visiting here briefly in 2021 (but I was sick so couldn’t film!). It’s NOT what you’d expect from Mexico, that’s for sure!

I’m not going to lie, Los Mochis probably isn’t a city you would purposely visit on a vacation (or maybe it is), but, along with Mazatlán and Culiacán, it really does offer a lot, particularly if you are looking to experience a more modern side of Mexico, with fewer colonial buildings. Go against the toxic obligation to ONLY visit historical and pretty places in Mexico! Everywhere has history!

We visit the amazing botanical garden, centro, the old sugar refinery and have some classic fast food (not home-cooked by an abuelita and not particularly special comida mexicana at Los Nachos (mexican food) - really going against the grain here!). We also discuss safety in Mexico, particularly for women - is Sinaloa safe? Is Mexico dangerous? I’ve never had an issue in Sinaloa or felt unsafe - but I’m a single male.

If you’re hoping to be an expat or thinking about moving to Mexico, there’s more to the country than Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende! Consider northern states! They are brilliant!

Copper Canyon - Day 1 - Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. Jumping Off Point of Train Journey

Copper Canyon (Spanish: Barrancas del Cobre) is a group of six distinct canyons in the Sierra Madre Occidental in the southwestern part of the state of Chihuahua in northwestern Mexico. The canyons were formed by six rivers that drain the western side of the Sierra Tarahumara (a part of the Sierra Madre Occidental). All six rivers merge into the Rio Fuerte and empty into the Gulf of California. The walls of the canyon are a copper/green color, which is the origin of the name.

Los Mochis is a coastal city in northern Sinaloa, Mexico. It serves as the municipal seat of the municipality of Ahome. As of the 2010 census, the population was 362,613, which was 61 percent of the municipality's population.

LOS MOCHIS SINALOA - IS IT WORTH VISITING? Full Travel Guide to Sinaloa's famous city LOS MOCHIS!

Los Mochis, Sinaloa - This is a city that is not often on the tourist trail. Most people only come here to board El Chepe and enter the Copper Canyon, but to my surprise, although there isn't too much to do here in the city, there are still some things worth seeing and visiting in the city. From the local cathedral to insane sunsets, Los Mochis may not be on the Mexico bucket list but it is not a bad place to visit!

Thank you so much for watching!

235 | STRANDED IN LOS MOCHIS?! (Mexico Travel Vlog)

26 December 2018 - Los Mochis

Day 13 - VLOG 235

An early start to the day as we arrive at Los Mochis train station to catch the 6am El Chepe train! ???????? BUT ALAS!! No trains come by Wednesday mornings and only leave Los Mochis at 3pm!!

With an 9hr journey to Chihuahua I would miss out on all the spectacular views. This is what happens when I don’t read the details!! Looks like I’m stuck here until the next 6am train on Friday!!????????

Days like these happen when you’re traveling, and the only thing you can do is make the most of the situation, so it’s time to explore the town of Los Mochis! ????⛪️

Being a relatively little town out in the sticks, approx 6km x 6km in area with a population of 264,000 we head into town for the afternoon and to try out some of the street food. ????????????????

Churros are certainly one of my favourites and they don’t come any more cheaper and fresher than in Mexico! 10 pesos ($1AUD) for a churro with your choice of Nutella or leche condensala (condensed milk) filling. I also found champorado!! Which was equally as cheap and tasted just like the Filipino version. YUUUMMM!!! Gotta love street food!! ????????????

Sinaloa México

Video: Sinaloa, México
Director: WIlly Sousa

Copper Canyon - Day 2 & 3 - Divisadero Sightseeing - the best viewpoints of Copper Canyon

The Copper Canyon is the world’s largest canyon. If you’re visiting here, the likelihood is that you’re planning to make at least some of the journey on the passenger train in Mexico, El Chepe. The train makes a number of stops as it travels through the Copper Canyon, but only a few of them are expected to be of interest to visitors: Creel and Divisadero/Posada Barrancas being the most popular. Divisadero and Posada Barrancas are two separate train stations about fifteen minutes apart – make sure you know which one is closer to your hotel if you’re stopping here. The Adventure Park (Parque Aventura) can be easily visited from either Divisadero or Posada Barrancas, or even from Creel if time is tight. The Adventure Park is situated in one of the most picturesque areas of the Copper Canyon.

Divisadero is really just a train stop along the train line that offers delightful views of the tops of 3 canyons; Urique, Tararecua and Copper way in the distance. The Adventure Park was built in between the Divisadero and Posada Barrancas train stops in order to showcase the views and allow people who don't have much time to at least see something quickly while passing through on the train. One can ride the seated ZipRider, run the course of the 7 traditional zip lines, ride the cable car to the mesa in Urique Canyon, or if adventurous, one can enjoy the vertical assault course on the side of the canyon wall, called the Via Ferrata. FYI: One must get off the train line to see the best parts of the Copper Canyon as the train line runs through a very small portion of it overall and though Divisadero is fun with nice views, getting out by vehicle into the actual canyons themselves is what is really most important on any Copper Canyon trip.

Most trips include at least a tour in Divisadero, and the longer ones will include a night on the rim in the region, but trips tend to focus on Big Canyon Country, far away from the train line and deeper into the canyon region, off the beaten tourist path. Immersion is the best way to get to know the Copper Canyon system and to do that, you must get into the deeper canyons.

It’s true that Divisadero is basically just a train stop. You get off the train and there are some little food and souvenir stalls. Walk through them (it takes about a minute) and you get to a viewpoint overlooking the canyon. The views are incredible.

The Adventure Park (Parque De Aventura) is home to a cable car, the world’s second longest zipline, a seven-zipline adventure course, a via ferrata and much, much more. I’ll go through the activities one by one and explain how they work.
