There are many destinations in and around Kabiguru's monumental Bolpur that are very significant for Birbhum tour. Bolpur is a very popular destination for travel enthusiasts, so I went on a two-day vacation to Ahmedpur to avoid the crowded affair.

Ahmedpur is situated about 20 km away from Bolpur. There was a sugar mill at this place post-independence. Now it is in ruins like other factories. Several lesser-known destinations can be visited around Ahmedpur. The best address to stay in Ahmedpur is Bhagwatipur Container Farm. A beautiful weekend can be spent eating farm fresh vegetables in a container. After lunch we went to see places nearby. Our first destination was Labpur.

Labpur is an old town very close to Ahmedpur. This Labpur has the house of eminent writer Tarashankar Banerjee. Which is now converted into a museum. There is also a Peetha Fullara of 51 Satipeethas. Goddess Sati's lower lip falls here. We then went to Kankalitala.

Another Satipeeth Kankalitala can be visited nearby from Fullara. Goddess Sati's skeleton falls here. Also worth visiting are the Kopai River and the ancient Kopai Station. You can see my journey in this video.

কবিগুরুর স্মৃতিবিজড়িত বোলপুর এবং তার আশেপাশে এমন অনেক গন্তব্য আছে যা বীরভূম জেলার পর্যটনের জন্য খুব তাৎপর্য্যপূর্ণ। বোলপুর ভ্রমণ পিপাসুদের কাছে অনেকটাই জনপ্রিয় গন্তব্য , তাই দুদিনের ছুটিতে গিয়েছিলাম বোলপুর থেকে প্রায় ২০ কিমি দূরের গন্তব্য আহমেদপুর। স্বাধীনতা পরবর্তী সময়ে এই জায়গায় একটি সুগার মিল ছিল। এখন সেটি অন্যান্য কারখানার মতো ভগ্নাবশেষ। আহমেদপুর কে কেন্দ্র করে ঘুরে নেয়া যায় বেশ কয়েকটি স্বল্পচেনা গন্তব্য। আহমেদপুরে থাকার সেরা ঠিকানা ভগবতীপুর কন্টেইনার ফার্ম। কন্টেইনার এর মধ্যে সুন্দর থাকার ব্যবস্থা, ফার্মের তাজা সবজি খেয়ে একটা সুন্দর উইকেন্ড কাটিয়ে দেয়া যায়।

আহমেদপুর থেকে খুব কাছের এক বর্ধিষ্ণু জনপদ লাভপুর। এই লাভপুরে রয়েছে সাহিত্যিক তারাশঙ্কর বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এর বাড়ি। যা এখন মিউজিয়ামে রূপান্তরিত। এছাড়াও রয়েছে ৫১ সতীপীঠের একটি পীঠ ফুল্লরা। দেবী সতীর নিচের ঠোঁটের অংশ এখানে পতিত হয়। দিনের দিনে ঘুরে আসা যায় ফুল্লরা মায়ের মন্দির।

ফুল্লরা থেকে কাছেই ঘুরে নেয়া যায় আরেকটি সতীপীঠ কঙ্কালীতলা। দেবী সতীর কঙ্কাল এখানে পতিত হয়। এছাড়াও ঘুরে নেয়া যায় কোপাই নদী এবং প্রাচীন কোপাই স্টেশন। এই ভিডিওতে আমার ভ্রমণটি আপনারা দেখতে পাবেন।

Dholavira (Gujarati: ધોળાવીરા) is an archaeological site at Khadirbet in Bhachau Taluka of Kutch District, in the state of Gujarat in western India, which has taken its name from a modern-day village 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) south of it. This village is 165 km (103 mi) from Radhanpur. Also known locally as Kotada timba, the site contains ruins of a city of the ancient Indus Valley civilization.[1] Earthquakes have repeatedly affected Dholavira, including a particularly severe one around 2600 BC.[2]

Dholavira's location is on the Tropic of Cancer. It is one of the five largest Harappan sites[3] and the most prominent of archaeological sites in India belonging to the Indus Valley Civilization.[4] It is located on Khadir bet island in the Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary in the Great Rann of Kutch. The 47 ha (120 acres) quadrangular city lay between two seasonal streams, the Mansar in the north and Manhar in the south.[5] The site was thought to be occupied from c.2650 BCE, declining slowly after about 2100 BCE, and to have been briefly abandoned then reoccupied until c.1450 BCE;[6] however, recent research suggests the beginning of occupation around 3500 BCE (pre-Harappan) and continuity until around 1800 BCE (early part of Late Harappan period).[7]

The site was initially discovered by a resident of Dholavira village, Shambhudan Gadhvi, in early 1960s who made efforts to bring government attention to the location.[8][9][10] The site was officially discovered in 1967-68 by J. P. Joshi, of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and is the fifth largest of eight major Harappan sites. It has been under excavation since 1990 by the ASI, which opined that Dholavira has indeed added new dimensions to personality of Indus Valley Civilisation.[11] The other major Harappan sites discovered so far are Harappa, Mohenjo-daro, Ganeriwala, Rakhigarhi, Kalibangan, Rupnagar and Lothal.

It was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name Dholavira: a Harappan City on 27 July 2021

Heaven Road is the newest scenic road in India. This road is about 30 kilometers long and connects Khavda to Dholavira. We traveled on this road to visit Dholavira, which is known as the largest Harappan site of the Indus Valley Civilization site in India and the second largest after Harappa in Pakistan. In 2021, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This road is not fully paved yet, but it is already on the bucket list of many travel enthusiasts like myself. The road passes through the Lake of Kutch and offers beautiful vistas, blue water, white crystal beds, blue skies, and more. You can find plenty of bird sightings which include pink flamingos.

Dholavira is an ancient city located on the island of Khadir in the state of Gujarat, India. It was occupied between around 3000-1500 BCE and was a part of the Harappan Civilization. The city is known for its well-preserved remains, including a fortified castle, ceremonial grounds, and a cemetery. It also had a sophisticated water management system and was a center of trade, with evidence of trade with other cities in the Harappan Civilization as well as with cities in Mesopotamia and the Oman peninsula. Artifacts such as beads, copper, shell, stone, and gold have been found at the site, demonstrating the culture’s technological and artistic achievements. The city is considered an important example of the culture’s ingenuity in adapting to a harsh environment.

Ahmedpur Mandvi Beach is located on the coastline of the state of Gujarat, India. It is located in Ahmedpur Mandvi, near Diu (Union Territory of Daman and Diu) in Gir Somnath District. This is 370 km away from Ahmedabad and is one of the 14 beaches chosen by the state to promote beach tourism

It was a bright sunny day apt for the beach visit. Shanaya was happy to see the beach and play with her sand toys.
There was not many people and the watersports ativities were also not available due to the pandemic.
We enjoyed the visit to this secluded beach post lockdown.

History of this Route-

The Ahmadpur Katwa line is a railway branch line connecting of the Indian state of West Bengal covering districts of Birbhum and Purba Bardhaman.

This route was opened on 29th September of 1917 by the McLeod's Light Railways.Narrow gauge line was installed and a Steam engine was put in service which chugged with having 30 kilometres per hour maximum speed.

This 52 km-long railway section was converted to (5 ft 6 in) broad gauge, work for which began on 14 January 2013. The line was opened to the public on 24 May 2018.

Nabadwip Dham railway station is a railway station on Bandel–Katwa line connecting from Bandel to Katwa, and under the jurisdiction of Howrah railway division of Eastern Railway zone.[2] This is the main railway station of Nabadwip town of Nadia district in the state of West Bengal. It is situated beside State Highway 8, connecting Nabadwip and Krishnanager through Gouranga Bridge. It serves Nabadwip and the surrounding areas. Almost all EMU and Passenger trains stop at Nabadwip railway station.[3] The distance between Howrah and Nabadwip railway station is approximately 105 km.[4]It has 16th longest railway platform in world 720 m (2,362 ft).

The birth of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is an important chapter of the fifteenth century. With the advent of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Vaishnava culture was well established in Nabadwip. However, even before the birth of Mahaprabhu, during the reign of Jalaluddin Fateh Shah (1481–87), royal fear appeared in Nabadwip. The ruling society and the Brahmin society obstructed the spread of Vaishnava culture in Nabadwip at that time.[13] Many Brahmin scholars and common people had to leave Nabadwip at that time due to the oppression of the king. However, when Chand Kazi, the then ruler of Nabadwip, issued an order to the Vaishnava community to stop chanting, Mahaprabhu went to Kazi's house with his companions and convinced the Kazi to allow the chanting, which is the first instance of civil disobedience movement in the history of India.[14] During Chaitanya and later, various Pandits-Sadhaks-Vidyalankars and Sanskrit Pandits were born in Nabadwip. During the period of Chaitanya, Basudev Sarvabhauma, Raghunath Shiromani, Raghunandan etc. and later Krishnananda Agamavagisha, Buno Ramnath etc., Nabadwip became the main center of Sanskrit practice and learning.[15] At the time of Raja Rudra Roy, there were four thousand students and six hundred professors teaching in Nabadwip, leading to its nickname as the Oxford of Bengal.[16]
