Świętochłowice is a city with powiat rights in Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice. It is also the central district of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union metropolis, with a population of 2 million, and is located in the Silesian Highlands, on the Rawa River.
It is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship since its formation in 1999, previously in Katowice Voivodeship, and before then, of the Autonomous Silesian Voivodeship. Świętochłowice is one of the cities of the 2.7 million conurbation – Katowice urban area and within a greater Silesian metropolitan area populated by about 5,294,000 people. The population of the city is 49,762 (2019).

Chropaczów is a district in the north-east of Świętochłowice, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. In 2013 it had a population of 12,589 people.
Chropaczów - After Silesian Wars the area became a part of the Kingdom of Prussia. In 1826 it was bought by Carl Lazarus Henckel von Donnersmarck. It was later industrialized. In 1879 the Lipiny Vorwerk became a separate municipality. In 1909 the municipality was renamed to Schlesiengrube, after a local coal mine.
After World War I in the Upper Silesia plebiscite 3,633 (including 1039 in Gutsbezirk) out of 5,423 voters (1480 in Gutsbezirk) in Schlesiengrube (Gemeinde and Gutsbezirk) voted in favour of joining Poland, against 1,784 opting for staying in Germany. Afterwards it became a part of Silesian Voivodeship, Second Polish Republic. It was then annexed by Nazi Germany at the beginning of World War II. After the war it was restored to Poland. The municipality of Chropaczów was amalgamated into Świętochłowice on 17 March 1951.

Do 1951 roku miejscowość była siedzibą gminy Lipiny. W Lipinach działa jeden klub piłkarski – GKS Naprzód Lipiny.

Bytom is one of the oldest cities in the Upper Silesia, and the former seat of the Piast dukes of the Duchy of Bytom. Until 1532, it was in the hands of the Piast dynasty, then it belonged to the Hohenzollern dynasty. After 1623 it was a state country in the hands of the Donnersmarck family. From 1742 to 1945 the town was within the borders of Prussia and Germany, and played an important role as an economic and administrative centre of the local industrial region. Until the outbreak of World War II, it was the main centre of national, social, cultural and publishing organisations fighting to preserve Polish identity in Upper Silesia. In the interbellum and during World War II, local Poles and Jews faced persecution by Germany.

Ulica Wolności w Chorzowie (pot. Wolka) – główna ulica w centrum Chorzowa, usytuowana południkowo prowadząca od Rynku w Chorzowie w kierunku południowym aż do Świętochłowic. Ulica ma długość 1,98 km i w większości jest deptakiem wyłączonym z ruchu kołowego. Kursują po niej tramwaje (tylko jeden tor) w kierunku Świętochłowic i na północnym odcinku również do Chorzowa Batorego.
W zabudowie przeważają kamienice pochodzące z XIX wieku. Ulica od czasu założenia Rynku jest uważana za reprezentacyjną arterię Królewskiej Huty i Chorzowa, pełniącą funkcje handlowe, usługowe, finansowe i kulturalne.
Przy ulicy znajduje się wiele restauracji, kawiarni, pubów, oraz galerie i kilka oddziałów banków; skrzyżowanie z ulicami Hajducką i Strzelców Bytomskich to tzw. „Złoty Róg”.

Świętochłowice. Jak wyglądają Świętochłowice ?
#Świętochłowice. Jak wyglądają Świętochłowice ? Spacerując po Świętochłowicach przeszedłem naprawdę sporo kilometrów. Myśląc o Świonach osobiście mam w głowie najniebezpieczniejszą dzielnicę w Polsce czyli Lipiny. Dlaczego mam takie skojarzenie nie wiem, jednakże spacerując tam między familokami nie miałem ani przez chwilę powodu aby się bać. Jeśli nie szukasz tutaj zaczepki to jej tutaj nie znajdziesz. Idąc głównymi tutaj ulicami Chorzowską czy Katowicką można odnieść wrażenie, że jest tutaj sam beton, cegły, kamienie i kostka. Świętochłowice pomimo tego, iż mają tylko ok. 50tys. mieszkańców są bardzo gęsto zaludnionym miastem. Tutaj aby przejść do innego miasta nie trzeba jechać kilometrów tylko tak po prostu za ulicą jest inne miasto jak np. Chorzów, Ruda Śląska czy Bytom. Świętochłowice wg. mnie niestety zostały trochę zaniedbane, brak poważnych inwestycji sprawia, że ktoś obcy spoza miasta może czuć się tutaj trochę jakby czas się zatrzymał. Miasto posiada potencjał i wiele ciekawych miejsc i zakątków, które może w przyszłości zostaną zagospodarowane. Z terenów zielonych spodobał mi się Lasek Chropaczowski, który jest naturalny, bez udziwnień. Przedstawiłem tutaj Świętochłowice z mojej perspektywy a komu się to nie podoba niech przyjedzie tutaj i sam zobaczy jak jest. Zapewne nie ma tutaj wszystkiego co oferuje to miasto, ponieważ film byłby trzy razy dłuższy, więc nie chciałbym was zanudzać. (niem. Schwientochlowitz)

Były Obóz Pracy Zgoda. Świętochłowice. Śląskie. Polska. Poland.
Zgoda – obóz pracy położony w świętochłowickiej Zgodzie od końca lutego do listopada 1945, podlegający Ministerstwu Bezpieczeństwa Publicznego. Komendantem obozu był m.in. Salomon Morel, funkcjonariusz bezpieczeństwa PRL oskarżony o zbrodnie przeciwko ludzkości.
W początkowym okresie obozem kierowały dwie osoby przybyłe na Górny Śląsk z województwa lubelskiego: Aleksy Krut oraz Salomon Morel. Od czerwca 1945 obozem kierował samodzielnie Salomon Morel.
Na przełomie października i listopada 1945 obóz wizytowała trzyosobowa komisja z prokuratorem Jerzym Rybakiewiczem na czele, która przejrzała akta, przesłuchała wszystkich więźniów, po czym zwolniła prawie wszystkich więźniów do domu. Musieli oni przedtem podpisać zobowiązanie, że pod groźbą kary więzienia nie będą z nikim rozmawiać o tym, co się działo w obozie. Ostatecznie obóz przestał funkcjonować w listopadzie 1945.

Old Town - a district of Częstochowa located in the eastern part of the city center, on the left bank of the Warta river. During World War II, there was a ghetto there. Only a part of the district constitutes the historic Old Town of medieval origin. It includes a part of the Najświętszej Maryi Panny avenue (I alley) and Daszyńskiego square. The most impressive building is the Cathedral of the Holy Family.
