Hotel: We stayed at Hotel Central, beautiful old building on the market square. Good room, friendly people and amazing breakfast!
Sweets:
Tum Tum Old Dutch Candystore - my favorite since I was a little kid
Zammateo - where you get some of the best Italian icecream you ever tasted
Bossche Bol - Jan de Groot. Duh, he is famous! The sweets in his shop seriously sell out, sometimes you have to order them. But they got them on many terraces.
Going for lunch: Korte Putstraat. Cute little street, also great at night!
St. Janskathedraal - amazing by day and beautiful by night.
NOTE 2016 is the year of Jeroen Bosch (Jeroen Boschjaar) since he died 500 years ago. Some special events are happening this period :)

The aim of the dams, sluices, and storm surge barriers was to shorten the Dutch coastline, thus reducing the number of dikes that had to be raised.

The Elfstedentocht is an almost 200 kilometres long skating tour which is held both as a speed skating match and a leisure tour. It is held in the province of Friesland in the north of the Netherlands, leading past all eleven historical cities of the province. The tour is held at most once a year, only when the natural ice along the entire course is at least 15 centimetres thick.

This week we visit Den Bosch, capital of Northern Brabant (Noord-Brabant) in the Netherlands. Timo has been here as a teenager once and Kylian and I have never been, so it was a wonderful family trip to take together.
This old city center of Den Bosch has a rich history and culture, with many famous buildings and cathedrals and a number of extraordinary statues. We weren't able to see everything, because Kylian was so keen on going to the playground, but we had a lovely walk through the city.
On our trip, we saw a protest or demonstration back to the station. I think it was a protest against the coorrrrrooons rules. It was a lot of people at once screaming, Freedom/ Vrijheid

Den Bosch is known for its rich history, beautiful architecture, and lively festivals, making it a popular destination for tourists from all over the world. History:
The history of Den Bosch dates back to the 12th century when it was founded by Duke Henry I of Brabant. Dutch Canal Boat Tour • DEN BOSCH • Netherlands s'Hertogenbosch | with info
If you are traveling around Netherlands and want to experience a diversity of activities and local sceneries than this one is for you!
Just 1h away from Amsterdam (by car or train) you reach the city called s'Hertogenbosch. Walk around this medieval town and you will be very pleased with your choice to come here.
But the best thing you can do here is visit de underground canals. Take a boat ride for about 1h. The boat skipper and guide will be talking in Dutch (maybe in the future they will have English tours too).
But as unfortunate it is that you might not understand much, the trip is worth it!
The city is called s'Hertogenbosch but everyone refers to it as Den Bosch.
And it was built around the 15th century, on a delta area, with many small rivers in and around it.
Also being built as a Fortress, with talk thick walls to protect it, the city run out of space to accommodate the high rising population.
So people did what they do best: come up with solutions!
The houses started being built over the canals, one by one, with no actual city plan.
Soon most of the canals were completely covered, hidden. Which is probably a good thing if you think that they were also the town's sewege...
