Huacachina may looks like a beautiful desert oasis tucked between sand dunes, but don't be fooled - this small town can pack a punch! Thankfully, after the nail-biting experiences in Huacachina, you can head to Cusco to sightsee for a couple of days and learn about Incan history and culture before you visit the iconic wonder of the world: Machu Picchu. In our opinion, the BEST way to get to Machu Picchu is to hike the Salkantay Trail which will take you to Humantay Lake and through the Salkantay Pass. This trek was the absolute highlight of our trip and we highly recommend you take this route if you are able!
