Phi Phi Leh island is famous as location of the movie The Beach (Leonardo DiCaprio). Phra Nang and Railey West are located on the Railey peninsula and are accessible only by boat.

We visited the top 4 beaches of Phuket Thailand in a single day to see the differences and similarities between each one. Specifically, we went to Patong Beach, which we think is the best beach in Phuket, Kata Beach, Kamala Beach, and Karon Beach.
The video explains it all, but here's the bottom line - Patong Beach has the most to offer to all sorts of people. It's ideal for singles, couples, or families. It's a beautiful location, plenty of room, affordable lodging and hotels, a good amount of entertainment and nightlife, but it's also very clean and has many family oriented activities.
The other beaches each have their own vibes, like some are specifically great for surfing, others are really good for just hanging out without being harassed, etc. Hopefully the video helps you make a decision on which beach in Phuket is best for you!

List of top 5 beaches one should visit in Phuket-Thailand.
Most of the beaches in Phuket are on the west coast, stretching around 45km from Rawai Beach in the south to Mai Khao in the North. The 3 main tourist beaches of Phuket - Patong, Karon and Kata are on the south side of the Phuket. Far away from these beaches, some very reclusive spots are mostly secluded. Some have just a few motels or inns, most have long stretches of light sand. Some are a little bit rocky at low tide.
Patong beach
Exciting, wild, uncertain and sexy: Just a few words that depict the maelstrom that is Patong. With a fiesta-like atmosphere by night, The focal drag of Bangla Road and its many clubs and bars is an explosion of colours, sounds and movement as touts and hawkers work for the passing crowds. Bar girls, sexily dressed, lure single males into their hideouts, while brassy androgynous ‘katoeys’ display their assets for a fair price- everything just for fun.
Kata beach
The principal part of the kata is it's exuberant crescent white-sand beach. Balmy tropical breezes, crystal clear seas and nodding palms all conspire to make the welcome cliché that is Kata Beach. Kata is more family orientated than its smutty neighbour Patong, Kata at nighttime is a quieter affair with shopping and dining figuring largely on visitors’ agendas and the beer bars and their girls nowadays marginalised to a small area near the Club Med.
Karon Beach
Karon is a three-kilometre-long beach much longer than the short kata. Kata is free from hotels on its beachfront and is divided into its south and north part. The Southern part lies next to Kata Beach and its northern part where most of the diners and bars are. In between stand several large motels and inns. As the beach is widely stretched, it is usually uncrowded, and if you’re looking for a peaceful holiday spot to relax and take life easy, it’s Karon Beach.
Kamala beach
If you love to do surfing, then the northernmost beach is an excellent surfing spot. Kamala hosts the extravaganza Phuket Fantasea which occupies a place in to do list. Fantasea showcases the charm and beauty of the Thailand which inspired by the rich thai culture and heritage If you want to relax on the shore, lunch will come to you in the form of food hawkers selling fruits, soft drinks and thai food.
Bangtao beach
Abode several five-star hotels and award-winning restaurants, if you are a shopaholic, then you are in the right place. In this area, you can look for antiques, works of art, beautiful textiles and fashionable clothes in a one-off, trendsetting boutiques as well as choose from an extensive array of hotels ranging from five-star hotels to simple beach hotels serving spanking fresh seafood and classic Thai specials. The beach itself is excellent with rolling waves, shady casuarina trees and sun beds.
Secret Escape: All beautiful beaches of Ko Samet in Thailand
Ko Samet or Koh Samet ... I am not really sure what is correct, but the beauty of the beaches should not be missed. It is a small Island and not many people go here. You still find those hidden resorts on awesome beaches. There is also a luxurious resort with a privat beach but what is the fun of that?
I visited all beaches I could find and took out my iphone. That was really fun and it took me only a day by scooter. Sometimes the access points are hard to find and the roads down to the beaches are a little adventures but that is vacation I like. I did hardly any colorcorrection. Therefore you can experience the beaches how they really are with their natural sounds:

DAY 41 - EXPLORING PHUKET BEACHES (THAILAND)
Hello there travel lovers !
After a crazy night at Patong, we took it steady; exploring what Phuket Island had to offer in terms of beaches.
We started of at Patong, not spending more than 5 minutes there as we knew that we could find more tranquility merely 15 minutes up the road by moped.
Karon beach was our next stop, tucked away in a small bay, golden sands and nicer atmosphere. Just watch out for the waves.
Kata beach was another 10 minutes from here, another gorgeous backdrop, with loads of luxury resorts, where you could spend days walking from your hotel straight onto the beach.
Unfortunately our budget does not allow for this luxury, but we did have a great day exploring the coastal areas of Phuket.
It was also great to get some fresh air. Anything to shake that hangover...never again... :P

Best beach in Phuket? | Freedom Beach | Phuket, Thailand
There are 2 ways to get to Freedom Beach:
1. On foot (how we did) Here's the location of the trailhead
It doesn't take very long to get down but it is a pretty steep hike. If you go before 3 PM, It's likely you'll have to pay 150-200 baht to get in.
2. By longtail boat from the southern end of Patong Beach. This, I heard is pricey at around 1500 baht Round-trip. But it only takes 10 minutes and no stairs.
Our hotel was right next to the trailhead so we opted for the hike. Is Freedom beach worth the hike down several 100 steps or a 1500 baht boat ride? You can decide for yourself after watching! :)
