In this episode of sloast takes south america, I travel to rio, all on my own ! I end up making friends at my hostel but first I solo hiked a mountain and walked alone through a favela, making street art for the locals.
Rio was amazing and I had no idea how huge it was ! I definitely need to go back soon.

Recently my wife and I spent four months in Brazil as a guest of our relatives without major incidents. There were no criminal incidents at all, probably because we followed the advices of our relatives who have been living in Brazil more than ten years. In this video I describe what we did to stay safe I hope it will help you to have a good safe time in Brazil. This is the second video from the Brazil Travel Guide serial.

The Perfect Day in RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil
I had the PERFECT day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! Rio is exactly as you always imagined it to be, except better and more picturesque :)
While I spent a few days in Rio, I hit all of my bucket list items in a short period of time, which is what made my time there so special!
Highlights included a deliciously unhealthy breakfast at Victoria bakery, walking up the entirety of Copacabana beach, exploring the eclectic and artsy Santa Teresa neighborhood (which has the only remaining street car line in Rio), seeing the stunning Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian (or São Sebastião) which can hold 20,000 people! Climbing the Spanish Steps/Escadaria Selarón, a visit to hang with JC @ Christ the Redeemer, sunbathing and checking out the surfers at Ipanema beach, and finally catching an iNCREDIBLE sunset on top of Sugarloaf mountain.
Overall, my trip to Rio de Janeiro was one I will never forget, and I can't wait to go back again one day.

Backpacking Brazil - A Couple of Travellers Episode 7
Andy and Steph's trip of South America continues as they head into Brazil.
Episode 7 begins on the Brazilian side of the immense Iguazu Falls. They then take a 20 hour bus to reach Florianopolis, where surfing becomes Andy's daily challenge.
The colonial town of Paraty with is cobblestone streets is the next destination. Here they take a boat to see all the Islands and Steph gets a little too close for comfort with the marine life.
In Ilha Grande 'A Couple of Travellers' become a couple more as they meet up with friends from Australia. First stop on the adventure is unfortunately the doctors for Andy before they go in search for the remote beach of Lopes Mendes.
The groups Brazilian adventure concludes in Rio de Janerio where they battle the crowds to get a view of Christ the Redeemer. They are then mesmerised by the incredible views at the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. This leg of the journey ends with a football match at the enormous Maracana Stadium.

South America Vlog #4 - Arraial do Cabo "The Caribbean of Brazil"
After two weeks in Rio de Janeiro we took the 4 hour bus ride up to Arraial do Cabo for some relaxation and beach time. Made some new friends with an older couple who told us they were our Brazilian parents, had some failed sunrise shoots (again), visited some INSANE beaches, and even made friends with the two Brazilians who picked us up while we were walking 5 km to a beach in the morning for sunrise, by the way they didn't speak any english (communication via mixed Spanish and Portuguese.
