【広島旅３・尾道】昭和レトロな街は名作のロケ地だった Onomichi,Japan. The town of “Tokyo story”
３日間の広島旅行の最終日は尾道へ。瀬戸内海と山に挟まれた風光明媚な尾道の街は数々の映画のロケ地や文人が愛した地として知られます。尾道は僕が高校生の時に見た原田知世主演の「時をかける少女」の舞台であり、その雰囲気を味わおうと行ってみましたが、米国の雑誌TIMEの歴代名画100選とかに選ばれる名作のロケ地でもあることを知り驚きました。渡し船に乗って向島に行ったり、ロープウェイで千光寺に行ったりし、有名な尾道ラーメンも食べてきました。

Onomichi, Hiroshima,Japan: A City of Literature and Movies
On the last day of my three-day trip to Hiroshima, I went to Onomichi. Onomichi, a picturesque town nestled between the Seto Inland Sea and the mountains, is known as a filming location for many movies and a favorite place of literary figures, and I enjoyed its emotional atmosphere. Onomichi is not only the setting of “Toki wo kakeru shojo” or ”The Girl Who Leapt Through Time starring Tomoyo Harada, which I saw when I was in high school. I was surprised to learn that it is also the location of Tokyo Story, directed by Yasujiro Ozu, that was selected as one of the 100 greatest movies of all time by TIME magazine. I took a ferry to Mukaishima Island, took a ropeway to Senkoji Temple, and had the famous Onomichi ramen noodles.

Exploring ONOMICHI 尾道 | JAPAN CINEMATIC TRAVEL VIDEO
This hilly port town is “Onomichi”, which is one hour and a half away from Hiroshima city by train.
This town is kind of small but there are a bunch of ways to hang out here.
1. Looking around Japanese traditional temples
You can enjoy more than 50 temples here and the atmospheres are more local than Kyoto.
2. Interacting with thousands of adorable cats
According to someone’s estimate, the reason why there are many cats here is that this town has a port and they have come up to the fishes lol
3. Eating local foods
I think “Onomichi ramen” is the best soy source soup ramen in the world.
Other than these, you can enjoy cycling in the location where have been chosen as one of the most beautiful cycling roads in the world by CNN.
