I visited a paradise-like island surrounded by beautiful blue sea and flowers blooming in profusion.
The contrast between cherry blossoms and rape blossoms is the best season!
I also felt the atmosphere of good old Japan and enjoyed delicious seafood.

Elvis Presley 1960 - Elvis home from army, recording at RCA Studio B reording studio and off to Hollywood! The next installment of our potted Elvis Presley biograpy compiled from videos of related places we've been lucky enough to visit in 2017 and 2019. This is 1960 and in March Elvis was home from the army and in the US for the first time since September of 1958 when Elvis sailed for Germany on USS Randall. Elvis arrived home in Memphis by train at Union Station before arriving home at Graceland. An Elvis press conference was held in his father Vernon's office out behind Graceland. 2 weeks of downtime followed before he returned to work.....first up was a Elvis recording session at RCA Studio B recording studio in Nashville. Elvis 2 sessions in March and April produced the classic Elvis Is Back! album, along with classic Elvis hits Stuck On You, Fame And Fortune, It's Now Or Never, Are You Lonesome Tonight and A Mess Of Blues. Sandwiched in between the recording dates was recording of the TV show with Frank Sinatra down in Miami. The Frank Sinatra Timex Welcome Home Elvis special. The rest of the year was taken up with 3 Elvis movies - GI Blues, Flaming Star and Wild In The Country and another RCA Studio B session toward the end of the year which produced the Elvis His Hand In Mine gospel album and the Elvis hit Surrender single. Elvis went boating on McKellar Lake, the Rainbow Rollerdrome and visits to Elvis favourite theatre - Memphian Theatre.
Sources of information have been gathered since I was 12 years old!! Some (but not all) sources include books by Peter Guralnick, Ernst Jorgensen, Pal Granlund, David English, Erik Lorentzen, Alan Hanson, Paul Richardson and Keith Flynn. Websites include elvisinfonet.com, elvis.com/au, historic-memphis.com, and the fascinating stories and information contributed by so many to the sites, and magazines Elvis The Man and His Music and Essential Elvis. Also the Memphis locations books Elvis - Memphis Style by Mike Freeman and Follow Me To Memphis by Andrew Hearn.
So many more over the years on TV documentaries (although many need better researchers), and VHS (!!), and DVD releases.
3 March 1960 - Elvis at McGuire Air Force Base on his return from Germany.
Elvis travels to Fort Dix for a press conference where he is greeted by Nancy Sinatra
5 March 1960 - Elvis discharged from the US Army at Fort Dix.
6 March 1960 - Elvis and his party board a private rail lounge car on the 'Tennessean' headed for Memphis.
The former site of Union Station. March 7 1960 Elvis home in Memphis on discharge from the Army.
the train had stopped outside of Memphis in Grand Junction. Gary Pepper of the Tankers Fan Club was there to greet Elvis on his return.
7 March 1960 - Elvis press conference in Vernon's office at the back of Graceland.
He confirms his upcoming appearance on TV with Frank Sinatra.
8 March 1960 - Elvis visits his mother's Gladys grave at Forest Hill Cemetery.
10 March 1960 - Elvis attends the 'Holiday On Ice' show at Ellis Auditorium.
19 March 1960 - Elvis rents out the Rainbow Rollerdrome Skating Rink on Lamar Avenue for him and his friends.
20 March 1960 - Elvis leaves Graceland along with Scotty Moore, DJ Fontana, bound for Nashville for his first post-army recording session.
Elvis was here at Studio B was on Sunday 20 March,
The first song was an Otis Blackwell song Make Me Know It. And Stuck On You and Fame And Fortune.
21 March 1960, Elvis headed for Miami to record his appearance on the Welcome Home Elvis Frank Sinatra Timex Special down in Miami at the Fontainebleau Hotel.
3 April 1960 for another overnight session for more tracks for Elvis Is Back LP Are You Lonesome Tonight and It's Now Or Never
18 April 1960 - Elvis leaves for California to record the soundtrack, and then commence filming of his first post-army movie, GI Blues.
So here we are in Riverside Park And this is McKellar Lake. The park is now called Martin Luther King Park. Elvis came waterskiing here on the 3 July 1960, when his father married Dee Stanley.
7 July 1960, Elvis bought a new motor boat,
1 August 1960 - After a short break in Las Vegas, Elvis reports for pre-production work on his 6th movie Flaming Star.
Crying In The Chapel was also recorded that day, that would be 1965 Surrender.
6 November 1960 - Elvis leaves for Hollywood Wild In The Country.
