Lloret de Mar is a Mediterranean coastal town in Catalonia, Spain. It is 40 kilometres (25 miles) south of Girona and 75 kilometres (47 miles) northeast of Barcelona. With a population of 39,364 in 2009, it is the second largest town in the Selva comarca of Catalonia.
There are historical remains of Iberian and Roman civilisations at various archeological sites. The first written references to Lloret de Mar can be found in documents from 966 as Loredo from the Latin word lauretum (bay laurel). Like many Mediterranean coastal towns, Lloret was frequently invaded by the Saracens in the Middle Ages. It is said that the traditional Ball de Plaça (the Dance in the Town Square) dates from this era.
Lloret de Mar attracts summer visitors on package tours. Its main beach (length: 1,630 m; width: 45 m; small, gravel-like stones) is one of the most popular Costa Brava beaches, and is consistently awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Lloret de Mar is a popular coastal town located on the northeastern coast of Spain, in the province of Girona, Catalonia. It is situated about 75 kilometers (47 miles) northeast of Barcelona, making it a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists seeking sun, sea, and vibrant nightlife.
We set out from Barcelona for a trip to Lloret de Mar, a vibrant coastal town on the Costa Brava. The drive showcased stunning views of the Mediterranean coastline.
Arriving in Lloret de Mar, the lively atmosphere was evident. Playa de Lloret welcomed us with its soft sands and clear waters. We relaxed by the sea, enjoying the Mediterranean charm.
A visit to Santa Clotilde Gardens provided a serene escape. Perched on a cliff, the gardens offered stunning sea views and artistic landscaping.
Lunch at a beachfront restaurant featured delicious Catalan dishes and fresh seafood, accompanied by the rhythmic sound of waves.
Jet skiing added an adventurous touch to the day. We felt the rush of the sea breeze and waves beneath us.
The Castle of Sant Joan offered a historical perspective and panoramic vistas of the town and coast.
At Fenals Beach, we marveled at the sunset, a mesmerizing blend of colors over the horizon.
Dinner at a cozy seafood restaurant was a culinary delight, showcasing local flavors.
A leisurely stroll through the lively streets allowed us to experience the town's nightlife.
Reluctantly leaving, we departed Lloret de Mar with cherished memories of a well-spent day by the Mediterranean.

Tossa de Mar is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain, located on the coastal Costa Brava, about 103 kilometres north of Barcelona and 100 kilometres south of the French border. It is accessible through Girona Airport, some distance north.
There is ample evidence of settlements dating back to the Neolithic period, and it is believed that the area has been continuously populated since that time. Between the 4th-1st century BC the first Iberian settlements appeared, followed shortly after by the Romans in the 1st century. In 966 Tossa was ceded by Count Miró of Barcelona to the Abbey of Ripoll. Some two centuries later, in 1187 Tossa was granted its charter by the Abbot of Ripoll, coinciding with the building of a church atop Mount Guardí, the remnants of which can still be seen today. Sometime in the 12th century the medieval town was walled off and a castle was built on the highest point of Mt. Guardí, this castle was to be subsequently replaced by a wind mill, and this in turn by a lighthouse which is still operational. By the year 1500 the first houses were built extra-muros to accommodate population growth. This process was greatly accelerated during the 17th and 18th centuries, shaping an urban configuration which was to remain practically unchanged until the arrival of mass tourism in the 1950s. In 1989 Tossa de Mar was the first place in the world to declare itself an anti-bullfighting city.
