To protect the environment, VMRDA has declared the hill a plastic-free zone. A cable car connects to the top of the hill, the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh. Kailasagiri is located around 10 kms from the Visakhapatnam Railway Station and around 8 kms from Visakhapatnam Dwaraka Bus Station.

INS Kursura (S20)
INS Kursura (S20) was a diesel-electric submarine of the Indian Navy, India's fourth submarine. Kursura was commissioned on 18 December 1969 and was decommissioned on 27 February 2001 after 31 years of service. She participated in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, where she played a key role in patrol missions. She later participated in naval exercises with other nations and made many goodwill visits to other countries.
After decommissioning, she was preserved as a museum for public access on R K Beach in Visakhapatnam. Kursura has the distinction of being one of the very few submarine museums to retain originality and has been called a must-visit destination of Visakhapatnam. Despite being a decommissioned submarine, she still receives the navy's Dressing Ship honor, which is usually awarded only to active ships.
INS Kursura had a glorious record of serving the nation for 3 decades. It has traversed 73500 nautical miles and clocked over 3000 dived hours and participated in all types of Naval Operations. Installing this decommissioned submarine on the RK Beach itself was a daunting task and it took almost 18 months to beach the submarine and convert it into a museum. The Kursura Museum was thrown open to the public on 24 Aug 2002. The submarine displays its complete weapon package, including the torpedoes.
